News / Poland's Economy Is Booming! The EU's Success Story? [711]

So you feel British when talking of the industrial revolution which took place 200 years ago, but you're not British anymore when it comes to Yalta and South African genocide, which happened 150 years later? That's a very convenient stance.

It's not a fair comparison, to be honest.

Most of the advancements made during the Industrial Revolution were made by fairly ordinary people (e.g. James Hargreaves) many of whom didn't even make much money out of their work, even if some obtained funding from the rich and powerful.

On the other hand, the rich and powerful are solely responsible for all colonisations, enslavements, invasions and wars since time immemorial.

So most ordinary Britons have plenty to be proud of when it comes to things like the Industrial Revolution, but have no reason to feel guilty about the things you mentioned.

A modern comparison would go something like this: "So you feel British when speaking of Sir Tim Berners-Lee, but you're not British when someone mentions the war criminal who ordered the invasion of Iraq?". ;)

UK, Ireland / Need Polish Dentist, Polish Cakemaker, Polish Hair Saloon (UK, Manchester area) [49]

Welcome back, troll. :p

Polish Dentist
Polish GP
Polish Gynecologist
Polish Dietician
Polish Mechanic

These make sense, as there may be a language barrier. It's not easy to translate technical terms, even if you can speak a language reasonably well. Even my mum (born in Poland) didn't know what wały napędowe are (in Polish) but I did (in both languages). But I'm a bloke :) lol

And, here in the UK, the word is gynaecologist. Funny how you criticise foreigners for their lack of language skills, yet you use "U.S. English" yourself.

Polish Cake maker

OK then, genius... show us the English bakery which knows how to make Polish-style cakes. Do we see you criticising Halal meat stores and Indian sweet centres? NO!

I can just imagine myself, living in Austrlaia or France and begging for a British doctor to see me

You really are a bit thick, aren't you? No-one British would demand a "British doctor" in Australia, as there is no language barrier.

However, we all know that you would expect your French doctor to speak English.

xenophobic

Pot... kettle... black!

UK, Ireland / Sooo many Polski Sklep in the UK, LOL [64]

We have sizable minorities living in most large towns and cities in the UK, however I've never seen a Turkish shop

There aren't really that many Turks in the UK, to be honest - not outside north or south-east London, anyway. Go to Lewisham or Haringey and it's like Little Istanbul.

or an exclusively Chinese food shop in such Prevalence.

Well, we all know you live in a small town, so that's hardly surprising.

There's nothing particularity exotic in these Polish shops

It's called "things which remind you of home". It's natural. Moving abroad isn't easy, unless you're an "expat" with all the corporate benefits. Most English people won't move 100 miles for work, never mind 1000, so stop moaning about people who are actually willing to do something with their lives, other than troll online.

I'd happily live on Polish food in Poland, but I'd miss a lot of things you can buy here, but not easily over there. Like Chorley Cakes and Worcester Sauce lol.

picked cabbage and cucumber

Well, how did you think they are harvested? They don't hatch out of eggs!

Sad Brits spend hours driving up and down the costas weeping for heinz baked beans and marmite.

You know those guys who sit on the beach in Torremolinos, while eating fish and chips instead of "foreign muck", while wearing Union Flag shorts? That's hudsonhicks, that is :D

No doubt you associate with Poland because one or both of your parents are from there????

Funny how you such a problem with Poles, yet not certain people who are a far bigger threat to the UK - or do you troll "their" forums as well?

What happened? Did some Polish girl tell you to **** off or something? lol

Pickled Cabbage with Dumplings

I can't say that I recognise this dish, is it like fish pie with treacle? haha

Love / Advice on how to make this Polish girl see me as more than a friend [23]

And yet they still have the nerve to suggest that we are wrong! lol :)

Tell her how you're "not usually into black girls". She'll be so overwhelmed with flattery she'll be sure to jump you, right there.

heehee, exactly.

" I don't usually do black girls, but you're buff and ting so I'll make an exception innit" should do the job VERY nicely if he's English hahaha :D

Actually, come to think of it, maybe he should try a similar line on fat/ugly etc girls as well - what a Lothario :)

Love / Advice on how to make this Polish girl see me as more than a friend [23]

on the contrary, i dont understand either. i like to think i am not completely dim, but to me , it is blatantly obvious this girl is BLACK.

Yeah.

If their example is correct, and I'm wrong, then it's simply an example of some kind of bizarre twisted logic.

It's like me going to Prague and telling someone "I love Czech women, but I don't date black women, so do you think Czech women won't date Poles"?

Who on earth thinks like that??? Only a weirdo! lol

Love / Can Polish men date with Chinese women? [23]

I couldn't believe how many hot women there were in Hong Kong (if a bit on the small side for me lol), so yeah, some Polish men do like Chinese women, but we do tend to put Polki first lol

Love / Advice on how to make this Polish girl see me as more than a friend [23]

Of course not, still too much of a task for your intelect (for the lack of better word) as It is obvious that you simply can't comprehend what you are reading.Try again! Here's a hint-The girl is not,I repeat NOT black.

Get a proper member account, then we can talk. I don't debate with guests.

Until then, genius, you have plenty of time to work out just who the girl is in the sentence below.

A clue: he's NOT talking about more than one girl. And the girl he IS talking about is BLACK.

I've known this girl for a couple of weeks now, I want to make her see me as more than a friend but, don't think I'm racist but I'm not into black girls

You can shove your guest account up your smug, patronising ***, troll.

I'll explain, shall I?

a. He doesn't like black girls.

b. This girl appears to be black.

c. Yet he wants her to see him as more a friend.

It hardly needs a Masters in logic to work out that it's a bit strange to want (c), if (a) and (b) are true...

... unless he's not telling us something, or you come some backward village (highly likely) where "more than a friend" means something else to round here.

Capisce?

eh??

1/2 Polish at best ;)

if you don't like black girls, why would you want to be "more than a friend" anyway? Unless I'm missing something here.

I dont think it matters whether she is polish or not! All us women are the same deep down.

This makes sense.

Don't waste time, just get on with it. Wait weeks, and "just a fiend" is all you will ever be.

No point wasting days or weeks on it - it's far better to get the rejection out of the way early lol.

USA, Canada / Living in Poland - prospects for Alabama guy ... need some advice! [146]

now what does that mean? have i missed something? sounds like a rather bold non-sequitur to me ... but pls enlighten me.

It was on another thread. He has a big problem with the fact that I object to Turk trolls and prefer dating light-skinned women ;)

so very little chance of you making the switch ... what switch? from men to women? women to men? dogs to horses??

The switch is from Celtic to Slavic, I believe :D

Fantastic. Now, you all get back to the topic.

????? Nobody called him a loser because he didn't want to teach English. It wasn't me, anyhow. NMPolak said that we all know what happens when Polki go back to Poland with a loser who is only capable of being a TEFL teacher. You've got that a bit mixed up (loser BECAUSE TEFL teacher, not because not ...).

You got it. ;)

I've got a personal beef with him, because he insulted the fact that I dared to have opinions/preferences he doesn't agree with (we're not exactly PC round here - he would probably have a heart attack if I took him to the Embassy Club lmao), but is he is a loser or not? Well, I don't know.

In fact, I have no idea what he does for a living anyway (I'd guess "IT support", judging by his photos :p lol), but that's beside the point. :)

As you have already recognised, an educated and ambitious Polish woman (which his wife appears to be) isn't exactly going to tolerate a partner who may struggle to find work in Poland other than TEFL. Back in the USA, he has the power. Moving to Poland with a Polish wife, who not only has the family, contacts, and most importantly of all, the language - is going to be a very different kettle of fish altogether. He will be on her turf, and she will have the power - and we all know that Polish women love to be in charge.

I've spoken Polish all my life, but even I would need to learn a lot of technical terms in order to be able to work in my profession in Poland; I don't do an "expat" job, unfortunately, so I would have to compete against Polish workers for Polish wages (which aren't great). I've spent a lot of time in Poland, so it doesn't feel "foreign" to me, but for someone who hasn't got a Polish background, and doesn't know the language, it's going to be very difficult. Respect to anyone who manages to make it over there, though - even if they dare to disrespect my (ahem) "sexual preferences" ;)

UK, Ireland / Websites for Poles to benefit from Britain! [210]

They shop exclusively at their Poland-Import shops, they pay for POLSAT in their homes, and they house share with about 10 other people, to save on rental costs.

oh ffs, not all this bs again. Are you sure you're not noimmi?

Poland became the most common country of origin for non-UK born mothers

Pakistan remains the most common country of origin for non-UK born fathers

A Polish woman can realistically only produce around one child per year.

How many children do you think the aforementioned South Asian gentlemen can create annually, especially if they have several wives and a few mistresses on the side? Yet all you do is go on about Poles! I'm surprised that you haven't started talking about "the Polish question" tbh. (rolleyes).

News / Poland's Economy Is Booming! The EU's Success Story? [711]

What else can they do? The Brits are somewhat isolated and the rest of Europe believes that their politicians are simply a nuisance like a feckin horsefly.

Until they want another loan to help bail out certain tax-avoiding Mediterraneans, that is; or when they want a dumping ground for the world's unemployable criminals, of course.

Poor old NMP - what did he do?! I was the one who suggested England. It was only a thought.

He's just p*ssed because your posts are worth replying to, and his aren't :D

Let's face it, he started this thread because, deep down, he knows that his wife is way out of his league - and we all know what Polki do when they move back home with some loser in tow, who is unlikely to ever amount to much more than becoming a TEFL teacher :)

Food / Is Polish food still more natural than in the West? [142]

People are shocked when I tell them my age- I easily look 10 years younger than I am, of course I eat healthy and haven't sun tanned since I was 22 and I don't have one wrinkle.

Heh :) That's probably my reason as well - no tobacco, minimal alcohol, and absolutely NO sunbathing. I saw a recent photo of a well-known footballer yesterday (someone who is generally considered very attractive), and I'd forgotten that he is actually seven years younger than me - I have no wrinkles, but he looks quite wrinkly now - and that's someone who has made a living out of keeping healthy/fit! Whereas I grew up on Polish food and don't exactly have a healthy job lol :D

As for the meat production. You get what you pay for. If you buy your meat at Biedronka and Lidl- they are going to be crap quality. If you go to a proper butcher you will get good quality. You can buy sausages here with 97% meat or 43% meat. The choice is yours.
Read labels and do yourself a favour.

Spot on. What Poland does particularly badly, imo, comes in packets. Not that it's much better anywhere else (mind you... Telma Hebrew Alef-Bet pareve chicken-flavour soup is very nice, lol) but...

I mean stuff like this: which I was given a few years ago, but never got around to using until tonight.

Not only is it full of chemicals, but it's hilarious that anyone would think this tastes "Chinese". Even the Uncle Bens sauce over here is more "Chinese" than all this Polish "przyprawa do... " stuff. It tastes of salt, and little else. Why does that "wyjątkowy Polski smak" always have to get in the way? haha

But there is no such thing as waste food in my house (Polish upbringing lol) so it had to be used ;)

Life / Why do you choose to stay in Poland, why not other country? [152]

It's not only the most beautiful piece of land in the world

Pull the other one! You haven't travelled much, have you?

and the women- as you stated! Why do you think everyone around us wants this land?

Considering that the women of several neighbouring countries are even better looking, it's more likely to be the coal reserves and pork meat products :D

English is my native language. I have had 2 years living in Poland in my early 20s, my first husband was Polish, but we spoke English, and I had a break of 6 years, and now have had 5 years speaking Polish with second husband, who hardly speaks English.

Wow, this is what I need - a native English speaker of Polish, who is by default unlikely to threaten to "go back home" whenever I allegedly have "pretensję" towards her (which usually just means I wouldn't take her to TK MAXX lol) :D

It's so true, all the good ones are married <sniff> lmao :)

t is natural that the big city is more expensive than the countryside.

Depends on how you look at it, really. City life should be much cheaper, if you think about it - all the infrastructure serves a high density population, living in smaller spaces. If you think about it that way, city living is actually the biggest rip-off ever. If the country bumpkins want all that space in the middle of nowhere, then let them pay the full price of supplying them with gas/electric/internet/phone, etc. They would soon move into town if they had to ;)

Because, even if you have just spent a mammoth 575,12 PLN on your weekly shopping, you know that you simply cannot answer "No, I don't, sorry" to questions like "do you have two groszę?" - as the trouble this reply will cause simply isn't worth it :)
