Love / What are Polish Women like? Just started to date one. [256]

Cos in England, English people are always cheating, getting divorced, moving from one person to the next...this is most people in their 20's and 30's is this the same as Poland?

Do you really stand by this comment ? It seems like an over the top stereotype to me.

Some people here cheat, get divorced and move on to the next person without saying goodbye to the last.

Life / Child Adoption in Poland? [138]

My husband and I are very interested in adopting a child from Poland.

The first thing you should do is check the age requirement for parents. I think you could be on the limit.

The process involves: mental health checks, suitability of housing, and they will ask how important adoption is to you. For example, will you take an older child or a child with problems. You have to give the right answers to these questions.

Good luck

Love / DO POLISH MEN DATE OLDER WOMEN? [169]

He told me about his family and he said he was going to Poland for Christmas and he is leaving on Sunday.

You might be lucky and get the call. But if he is interested he is more likely to phone after Christmas in my opinion. That's when he can make a date.

Whatever he chooses I wish you luck.

Love / My Polish wife doesn't want to move to the UK with me - what to do? [96]

problem with language,

Give it time and you'll learn. You could take lessons. But not with a family member.

freezing weather

Last winter it was colder in the UK than it was here.

You seem fed up and I feel that your job is probably not going the way you would like it.

You have to spend more time speaking to your wife. Maybe secure work for you and your wife in the UK and then move. Maybe agree to go back for a limited period.

Travel / Just back from Krakow [120]

No, I was in Krakow very recently and do know what is like. I even visited Bochnia by train at the same time. It was 1985 or 1986.

"Recently" Some members of this forum weren't even born then.
As you have been told before, many times, the Poland of today is very different.

Off-Topic / PF - The Omnibus Edition [1502]

It's a bit like my dinner in that it's fast approaching its sell by date.

I really don't know if you're being serious about 'resting' the update. I'd like you to continue writing.
However, if you are serious, please nominate a successor, to be called 'Edd'.

News / 10,000 ISRAELIS READY TO CLAIM FOR POLISH CITIZENSHIP AND POLISH LAND! [628]

GUYS CHECK THIS OUT....10,000 Israeli Jews sitting in Israel are going to start claming Polish Citizenship and more importantly Polish land.....

They have as much right to claim citizenship as the next man.

I'm not sure if these people are all going to claim land. I understood that they wouldn't get it anyway.

Life / Reliable Weather Service In Poland? [25]

I don't rely on any of them. For instance- on Sunday night,

Did you check Poland or did you do a city check ?

Yahoo.com said light snow shower, -1

This was correct for Wroclaw.

Do they choose to hire Brits or Poles ? Or is it still in the hands of the Site Foreman /Site Agent ?

I realize your answer could start a troll war, but I would like to know.

DO POLISH MEN DATE OLDER WOMEN?

At my age, if I dated an older woman it could work out quite cheap. Especially if she has her bus pass.

His Dad was looking out for his sons prospects by giving him an opportunity to add an invaluable skill to his bow... and less likely to be laid off if another round of cuts come.

This reminds me of a time, twenty years ago, when I sacked the son of one of the directors. I was doing what I was paid to do and management had to back me up.

Oh, how I loved the job of Gaffer.

UK, Ireland / Polish opinion of England as a country and the English nation [64]

From my perspective, as an employer, I got more work from the Polish I hired. Or to use an American term "I got more bang for my buck."

I think you will find that Polish immgrants work harder because they feel that they have a greater need to keep their job. It's not some great Polish work ethic. They don't all work so hard back here. In fact, like any other country, we have our fair share of the bone idle. There are many workers here, in manual labour, who think they are indispensable because they can't be replaced. Some find to their cost that they can be.

White collar workers in government and local council institutions are known for their awkwardness and inadequacy... as reported on these boards. I hear plenty stories of employees who are not up to the task here in Poland.

So please don't pretend to me that Polish workers are any better than Brits. It's all a question of need and what you think you can get away with.

northern rock scenario has nothing to do with poles in UK.

As you mentioned in ..... Which post ? What is the relevance of this comment ?

As for the English language, I'm still learning. But these days it's from the nonsensical Polish/English encountered in posts like yours.

If they are buying houses they must be earning bloody good money. Time to move back I think.

I said on this forum, a year ago, that immigrants would be blamed for the country's woes. And I still believe that some of this venom will be expressed in violence as time time goes on.

and this point appears to be approaching fast

I thought that the government recently admitted to mistakes on this issue. Weren't the immigration figures doctored or misinterpreted.
