News / 1.3% birth rate = Poland's slow death [221]

that doesn't make sense....
how can a birth rate 'uniquely' come from the immigrant population?
how do you know? Is there a link?
God i hate sloppy arguments.
why should we care anyway?
tbh those immigrants are doing France a favour...;)

Language / GCSE Polish experience. [51]

French must be easy for the English. English is French spoken badly. By learning French the English get the chance to speak their language properly.

English was a Germanic language before the Norman invasion FYI and is closest to Friesian, with French words added later,
was that comment just a wind up or what?

I took a look at that Polish GSCE, bit of joke putting Polish kids in for it to raise the school's results rreally.

Life / Why are Poles in other countries called "Plastic Poles"? [168]

this term is used a lot in the UK to refer to those English of Irish descent who make a big deal of their 'Irishness', e.g. 'Plastic Paddy',

kind of a double whammy of offensiveness....

History / Poles organized the first strike in US in 1619 [72]

The rest are pretty unknown.

oh here as well, pawian, that's what I meant about mainstream history books.
I too can only recall Wat Tyler from school, the rest I have learnt about since....
good stuff!

is that right? Pawian your knowledge of British history astounds me.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diggers
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levellers
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Cade
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Fawkes

it might have been more accurate to state...
Wat Tyler is the only insurgent to have made it into mainstream books on British history.

UK, Ireland / Crap parenting in our UK youth today (in Poland it's a little better) [52]

also the language of it is all wrong.
a 'clip' round the ear
a 'smack'on the bum
in adult life that would be a prosecutable (is there such a word?) offence
why not just say 'hit'?
an adult man hitting a small child round the head in temper isn't really on, is it?

Life / Let`s compare prices of services and products in Poland [359]

haha oh really?
I thought they did that to everyone....
I drove down into England the other week, and literally as soon as I crossed the bridge it started.....(there's a certain level of courtesy in Wales)

like, there I am, in the fast lane, merrily breaking the speed limit, having a great time, unable to go any faster due to the traffic ahead, and some twollox starts tailgating and flashing,

well after a few miles i get bored of it, and switch lanes, and the guy drives by, somehow....doing a slow hand clap.....lol.

but as for comments like
*Do you even know why you should use a winter tire?*
oooooh no, of course ai don't, excuse me while ai paint mai nails
....FFS
but the best moments are at the garage.....like...ooohhh (sharp intake of breath through pursed lips) that'll be at least £500 quid LOVE, that's the one that really makes my blood boil.

Does it cost more or less the same to run a car year round in Poland as here?

UK, Ireland / Crap parenting in our UK youth today (in Poland it's a little better) [52]

my point is that it is most often people with no children who are the 'experts' and the most critical.
Do you have your own children WP? Let me guess......no.
Oh and by the way it is illegal to 'give a child a good smack'.
Why do you use the word 'smack' and not 'hit'?
Anyway Pip is right, it's about good attention.

it's all very well, but as a parent, you will get slagged by someone for either not telling them off/telling them off too much/telling them off in the wrong way/whatever,

and suddenly you are public property where everyone under the sun feels they can tell you what's what, most often people who do not have their own children.

It's a tricky one.
My Polish ex told me that my problem with my kids was that 'I did not beat them enough'. I pointed out that it was illegal apart from anything else and parents have social services round at the drop of a hat, his rather predictable answer was that being beaten to a pulp by his mad violent dad 'had never done him any harm', (as he reached for the bottle).....

So unless someone has the experience of being responsible for children, their upkeep and behaviour 24/7 over many years, then, please,no comment is necessary.

UK, Ireland / First proper "Polish" School in the UK - The Next Stage of Ghettoisation [283]

I wonder how soon we will all be randomised.........;)
OMG Magda I was in your town once!
what a place.....
imagine if a visitor went either to your place or to Jaywick....
they could have vastly different impressions of the country, and would report home accordingly...

a tiny seaside town in Essex that does do posh

lol Magda, do you live 'inside the gates'?
how can Essex be all 'new money' when Colchester is the oldest recorded town in england?
some people base their judgement of Essex on solely on TOWIE.
what's this thread about anyway *confused*

, now I realize the reality is not what I imagined, British people seem not to want to work

oh really?

I suppose one of the largest economies in the world just built itself then?

have to agree with you here hh much as that irks me
this kind of thing really pisses me off,

They could never survive in the ' Polish ' reality.

well obviously nor can the Polish, can they?
