Thinking about it, yes, it is :-)

LOL :)

triple-barrelled kiss

What's that??

incarceration rate in the US is the highest in the world.

Part of that is due too. The practice of imposing longer prison sentences on repeat offenders is common in many countries but the three-strikes laws in the U.S. with mandatory 25 year imprisonment - implemented in many states in the 1990s - is very extreme compared to countries in Europe.

Interesting though is that. According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) non-Hispanic blacks accounted for 39.4% of the total prison and jail population in 2009.[27] According to the 2009 census of the US Census Bureau blacks (including Hispanic blacks) comprised 13.6% of the US population. Witch accounted for 841,000 Blacks in prison. While White Americans (non-Hispanic/Latino and Hispanic/Latino) comprise 72% share of the U.S. population, according to the 2010 US Census. Witch accounted for 693,800 whites in prison. This is for males.

A 'semi lower cost'????
Either the cost is lower or it is not lower.

That's a fine way to say, that it's lower but not by much, maybe at most 10 or so cents per gallon. But usually more like only 2 or 3 cents cheaper.

Only after she has been hugged, kissed and welcomed do they turn to him.

You guys hug and kiss strangers upon meeting them???? Is that like how i hear the French kiss you on each cheek when meeting people?? Lol

Yeah no I get that, i'm just saying Poland isn't on that chart either, but even though its not 100% most get more paid days off than Japan, Canada, Switzerland, Netherlands.

Also I know like where my dad works he can roll over his sick days and vacation days that he doesn't use. So if he doesn't use them all up they are just added onto the next year. Can you guys do that also?

Also Unions guarantee teachers days off
Employees shall be entitled to use up to four (4) personal days per school year. You are entitled each year to 5 sick days.

We are talking about some paid time off work for vacations.

Ok but the chart shows that 77% of American workers get 13 Paid Vacation days and 8 Paid Holidays

But it shows that 77% of people get paid vacations and paid holidays. So do we really need to have a law for it if most people are getting them off and paid??? Also the U.S needs people to work on holidays we can't give everyone off on every holiday, the only day everyone gets off is Christmas. Other than that we need our stores open like our grocery stores need to be open 24/7 every other day.

America is the only rich country that doesn't guarantee paid vacation or holidays

Yes this is untrue, maybe if you work in a small company you won't. But I have never heard of one that doesn't give you paid vacation and or holidays. I personally don't but that is only because i'm a college student so I only work part time and seasonal. But after you have worked even at a place like Walmart for 2 years you get paid time off.

some shops give a discount to those paying in cash

Well isnt that basically the same as when gas stations give you a semi lower cost on gas if you pay with cash.

Yes. Probably to stop people from queuing outside the door for hours on end to get the better seats (or to sell a place in the queue to people who want to pay for better seats)

Still think that's dumb personally I mean, i'm fine with the way we do it here first come first serve.

Also, people using credit cards tend to buy 20% more

oooo yeah can totally understand this, I mean its just a swipe you don't actually see your money coming out of your hand. Why the U.S has such problems with credit card debt.

There are also on the spot fines for what you would term jaywalking

What seriously, I mean I guess I can understand that, but here you cross where ever you want. hopefully just not right in front of a car lol. What's the fine on that??

Can't say if i was contemplating a move to Poland, portable toilets would be something I would be giving much attention to! I've never seen any there, but then I haven't seen any in the UK, and we do have them in some cities.

Here it is I saw it on the Travel Channel travelchannel.com/video/europes-futuristic-toilets . HOW COOL haha the doctor who lou. Poland should def get them Hell the U.S needs to get emm also lol

So buy a ticket in advance, problem solved.

ooo so you get to pick out your seats?? Why is it like that though?

OOOOO yeah also my parents where telling me about how the last time they were in Poland which was 15 years ago but still when they went to the movies, they got asked too move out of people's seats because you are assigned seats, is that still true?? And if it is why is it like that, I mean that's just weird i don't wanna get put way up close to the big screen that would just **** me off.

USA, Canada / General differences between Poland and the USA? [184]

oooo Yeah trust me I have cheated many many times, and yeah I did a lot of quick paper cheat sheets. Or else honestly I was the person where I had all my friends do it for me, so they would give me a copy of their own cheat sheet for me to use. I've done the sharing a calc and writing answers, but since i've been in college its just too hard. Teachers are always looking, and its just not worth getting caught. In high school you might just get a zero on that test not expelled like in college.

Are their certain things that you shouldn't do in Poland that will get you arrested that maybe in the the U.S are more common practice??? Like the weird law apps you can get on your phones with the weirdest laws that you never know about.

Also I hear that I think it as like in Germany France or the UK where they have pop out toilets in the streets for guys at night for when they are drunk so that they don't **** all over the building??? Do they have those in Poland Just wondering.

Meathead
I Disagree with that statement it really depends on where you go. most don't cheat just because if you are caught you get expelled from many schools.

Also what kids in,poland never go on their phones during a quiz or test??

How are magnetic strips not better with the your chip in your card people can easily steal all of your information by just having a card reading device nearby.

With most accounts you have a choice either you can have at least 300$ in the account and then their is no monthly charge or you have to use the card at least 5 times a month. Like if I don't use my card at least 5 times i will get charged a service charge of 5.99 a month. And then of coarse you get charged when you use the ATM to get cash. But no it doesn't usually cost anything just to open an account unless it is an exclusive type of an account. I got 150$ put into my account just for opening it.

Everything depends on what type of account you have for another instance I have had an account open for 10 years and have never used it. I put money in it as a kid, but just leave it now to collect what little interest it can. I can have this account open forever if I want and will never have to pay a charge or anything on it.

It can be ridiculously cheap - if you just want the experience, then a good private university should only cost you around 2000 dollars for a year at the most.

Alright that's so cheap that's nothing to pay.

Also so what is the difference between these chips in the cards and what we currently use? I personally don't mind using my magnetic strip and signature not that they even check your signature.

USA, Canada / General differences between Poland and the USA? [184]

Well I'm not planning on going next fall as that would be pretty much impossible to plan out with my school lol. I plan on going in after next year so my senior year.

I don't know if it's possible to transfer your credits

My school said it can be done even though we don't have a program with Poland, its just gonna take a lot of work on my end to find classes that will meet the requirements my school has for those classes.

What about getting a job. Is it really hard to find jobs right now in Poland? And what about opening a business that's my dream so is it a good time to be doing that? Is the economy in Poland strong?

USA, Canada / General differences between Poland and the USA? [184]

No I really want to do, they problem I was seeing is that my college doesn't have anything in Poland. So I would have to set up everything and transfer back the credits for them to count. I was also thinking that it would be very expensive, but if what delph said was true and that since I am still a citizen it would be very cheap then it is more likely to happen. As for classes I don't really know much polish right now, but plan on learning so I would probably have to take english classes and take a polish learning class.

So do university their not have dorm rooms? Here all freshman who don't already live in the area are required to live in a dorm room on campus, this charge is already put into your tuition

costs same with food costs.

Europe has a lot more credit card fraud than the US because of how they handle transactions.

So does Poland use credit cards?

You're still a Polish citizen (do you have a Polish passport? if not - you should get one!)

Yes I believe I still am, I have to still look into that too make sure, and I only have my passport from when I was 4 lol.

In some cases Polish laws are more fair then American ones.

What about driving laws? How much are speeding tickets, do you guys get pulled over a lot in Poland? We always have cops patrolling to pull everyone over, and give out tickets.

except maybe for the case of custody over children.

Is that a really hard thing to do?

They range from 1000 to 15000 eur per year. Average is around 2000 probably. above 10000 costs only medical studies.

Is this for the semester, with room and board?? Do you also happen to know how many credits? Like in the U.S we can take up to 18 credits per semester without having to pay extra, the average is 15 credits. But some schools like mine is dropping that down to 16 credits next year.

To get into a Polish Uni, you need to pass the Matura, which is on a par with the International Baccalaureate. Not sure what the US equivalent of this is

In the U.S you don't have to take a specific test to get into University, you usually take something called the S.A.T which gives you scores and based on those schools will deny or accept you. But colleges are starting to learn that these tests may not be adequate and so now many don't make you submit scores anymore, its really based off of your high school grades, extra extracurriculars and on who you are and who you know. I would also not be expecting a degree from their only if I decided to grad school. I would just have to transfer back the credits into my college.

And ill check out that thread right away :)

Also how expensive is school there?? Is it any more than it is here? That would be hard to believe as my school I currently go to costs $38,000 a year, and I don't qualify for many scholarships so my parents pay about 25,000 out of pocket and through loans.

Typical dishes: Kotlet Schabowy, Gołąbki, Pierogi, Bigos. Poles are also fond of soups, Barszcz, Rosół etc. Polish cakes and desserts are to die for!
Good luck if you decide to go for it, sure it'll be a great experience for you :)

haha McDonalds, personally hate cabbage but love pierogi's, and Barszcz. Never had a lot of polish food other than on Christmas, we don't have any polish restaurants around here. But I am in love with Polish bread.

They drink beer

personally drink more vodka, but yes beer is insanely popular also :)

For example. This video was made as a school project in a upper middle class predominately white high school. Rap culture is rotting American culture from the inside. 33 students were suspended, no prom, no walking at graduation

WHAT!?!? that is crazy. Where was this video made Poland? But I don't really see whats that bad about it, is it any worse than taking a video of you and your friends jumping around singing in your bikinis? I get the lyrics aren't good, but to get into that much trouble i think is way over reacting. You can't see most of the girls faces anyway so it's not really bad personally.

So then are there a lot of chain restaurants like we have in the U.S or are they more mom and pop type places?

Also I hear that in Germany they don't really use credit cards you have to carry cash on you, is that true in Poland?
