Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

Been there, done that. Now explain why many people with even a sniff of an income above the stated national average dress down when they go into local government offices. .

I don’t know, please explain, wait, perhaps people in Poland are envious of one another?

You can call 'em paranoid commies (them, because I'm English and therefore slightly screw with the bell curve) as much as you like, but that merely adds grist to the mill for anyone who claims (rightly) that the data is skewed.

In your opinion why is the data in this survey skewed?

Poles educated in "useless" information are more interesting to talk to than

You can’t make much money with useless, you know that, right?

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

Do you know what is the representative sample in Poland? Some over 1000 people. For 40 million inhabitants.

I think you need to take a statistics class, somwhere like in Germany. You guys seem to be well educated in many irrelevant and useless subjects but have no knowledge of anything that is practical. Maybe that’s why you’re so poor in Poland.

You're missing the point. Which is, that practically no-one is going to reveal their true income for the purposes of a questionnaire - in fact, they'd probably only do so under oath.

Here is what the survey would look like.

What is your income?

A) $10 to 30K
B) $30 to 60K
C) $60 to 90k
D) $100 and above

And you would say, oh, snap, I’m not reviling my true income!
You people are still such a bunch of paranoid commies lol

Romania is a poor country because they made actually no reforms for past 15 years

I’ll try to explain this to you again, like to a kid.
We all can agree that the socioeconomic status gap between Germany and Poland is significant, on the same scale the gap between Romania and Poland is tiny. So let me repeat myself again:

You know that being slightly richer from dirt poor doesn’t make you well off, right?

Btw, Job well done on your reforms!

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

There are 27 countries in the EU. Poland is ranked as one of the poorest with Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, and Lithuania. Well, at least you guys are doing slightly better than Romania.

Is Romania a poor country?

You know that being slightly richer from dirt poor doesn’t make you well off, right?

Life / What do you generally think about Poles? [62]

Poland is one of those poor and insignificant former eastern bloc countries that most people don't care about.
John Paul II, Walensa, and Polish jokes and that is the extent of what average people know about Poland around the world.

I have been to both US and UK, not once. Are you trying to tell me anything has missed me?

Well, yes. See I'm not sure about the UK but in the US there are people from all over the world living here, and yes, there are those who think that a car is an indicator of status. Most of the time, and i mean no disrespect, those are people like you. Poor foreigners or just plain poor. See, Antek, a rich person is somebody who is totally independent, out of reach but at the same time highly influential, a person who can change rules and make up new ones as needed and influence other people to do what they want them to do.

Same logic, a rich country can influence other countries and manipulate the world as the rich people see fit. Poland is neither rich nor influential.

Those great times for USA are, I am afraid, over .

I don't really care what you're afraid of. It's my home so I'm staying here either way Princes. I have nowhere else to go and i would not fit in with bunch of you backwards Polish Polacks.

I'm not blaming anybody, all I'm saying is that in spite of all EU's desperate efforts, Poland is still a poor country and nothing is going to change there because majority of the Polish are whacked in the head, and oblivious, like you are.

Love / Woman 23, man 47 years old. What do you think about ? [162]

My friend, age 20, somehow ended up marring a 45 year old stripper. She really looked good for her age, if I had to guess without knowing I would say she look like she was in her early 30s… one hot freaky MIFL... lol

anyway, the really funny part was that she had a son who was 25.
One time my friend asked his “new” step-son to buy us some liquor at the store for a party that night but he firmly refused because we were underage and he was too scared to get in trouble. LOL, really awkward “family” life.

Love / THE POLISH DISEASE, wanna marry a Polish girl ? read on... [197]

@OP

What you've described here is 100% accurate for the majority of girls from any poor country marring the so called "well off American".

Your hopes of finding someone nice to spend the rest of your life with and her hopes of hitting the jackpot by marring you, created a not so tasty mix of American pie, (way of life) and żurek, (of the Polish mentality) that you both had to consume.

She was disappointed because she couldn't show off to her friends in Poland with your, err, her "wealth, power and well being", and you were disappointed because she ripped your heart out and ruined your life.

It happens all the time.

Mother tells me that she used to report Anti Polish traitors to the government because they were hurting our country.

Your mom was reporting people to the soviet run Polish government... OMFG and you don't see anything wrong with that? lol.

Can you please give us some examples of what your Mother considered to be a treachery and anti-Polish?

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

Who is poor in Poland?

People who spend most of their income on utilities, food, clothing, transportation, taxes and they’re left with a very little disposable income.

The young people …
Helpless college graduates and young professionals with babies who can't afford to get their own place and end up living with their parents in one tiny apartment/house hopelessly dependent on everything.

The parents…
A large majority, 40 to 65 year olds -the backbone of the Polish country…People who can't adjust to the new reality but got really efficient at exploiting the system, a lot of them work under the table while collecting social benefits.

But who can blame them, a lot of them ended up supporting up to 3 generations of their own family, parents, kids and the grandchildren under one roof.

The Grandparents…
The mature generation of 65-and up whom spent their entire lives on a back breaking labor, foolishly believing that it’s going to get better one day. Now, the rest of family impatiently hovers around them waiting to collect and strip those old bones clean like a bunch of vultures.

Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła... right..

Off-Topic / How do Polish people operate? what makes them tick? [103]

I hope you're not going to the lake on the border, I heard there is Mexican greeting party ready to welcome Americans there.

I think you have it the other way around.

This guy is gone almost a lost cause hes reading but hes not listening, what are the million + Poles that emigrated to the UK saying hey Havok?

Honestly I'm not sure who is more brainwashed me or you. The sad truth is that million + Poles go to UK and most of them work some ****** jobs just to buy a new car. If you don't see what is wrong with that picture then i must congratulate you on a job well done on being well adjusted Pole, Brit. Your training has been completed.

My house is in a nice neighborhood 10 minutes drive from downtown Houston. I would lie if i said it doesn't make me happy to live here. I'm not much into cars though. I've already said what makes me happy.

Let me quote myself again:

In other words "im lucky i can do this, you should feel jealous", he'll get to river tubing and he'll be the same as we all are, he actually gets more of a buzz from thinking others envy him than the actual river tubing itself.
Weird isnt it, we all do it.

you're reading too much into it . What i said was, hey it's Friday, it's a nice weather, let's grab some some beer and relax at the river.

I gotta go now, have fun.

Show me your picture Havok, I need to see how well you look because of your wellbeing ;-)

I wouldn't want my face or my name to be associated with this site. No self-respecting person would ever do that.

I'm on facebook and linkedin though.

That's what the monetary system does and will always do

I'm not a greedy person, I just want enough recourses to live my life with dignity.
I live in a country that can provide tools to anyone who wants to reach their full potential.
Personally, I feel like I have a fair chance against anyone here even though you think the US is some kind of evil corporate hell.

There are countless examples of people who came here with nothing and were able to turn their lives around for better. You don't hear those stories about Europe or especially about Poland.

So if you had to choose the lesser of two evils, which country would be your pick, Poland or the US? Simple logic my man... The question is how open minded are you and hard are you willing to work for it.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I heard

Dude you are a perfect example of a Polish conformist dumb ass.

Fuck this place i'm going river tubing.

Where is PGTX when you need her? This thread is about Poland, not about the US....

but not unlike Havok think you are some what superior

The only superiority i have over you is my positive thinking, my tendency to smile a lot to people and ability to enjoy my life.

You sound grumpy bro. You should move back to GB cuz living in PL is taking its toll on you. You don't wanna be 40 and think that you're too old to do anything... or do you?

It was an honor and a pleasure and I'm proud to be a part of this nation. I fought for this country and I took the oath in the service and I would do it again.

I really mean it.

listen, I was a kid living in the street , I'm grateful for the opportunity they gave me. I would not get a chance like that in my old country.

Havok, you couldn't have said this any better!

Thank you :)

I think poverty is not limited to Poles.

you're right, it's not. What I’m trying to say is that the poverty of Poles defies logic. I’ve expressed some of that resentment in my drunken thread about Upper Silesia.

First of all, graduating as Master of Science from a technical university and taking care to learn English.
Then, hard work and constant developing skills.

Good for you. I'm happy and proud you got it right.

I can and i dont go through your posts, if i want info i just run a search, its simple - hell youre the IT guy you should know that.

I don't question your ability to search. I can't figure out why you would even bother to do so. Why spend a minute of your life on searching for my useless posts?

Youre preaching.

I'm just stating the obvious man.

I dont think so, youve been out of country for so long now you can only surmise based on what you read here.

I beg to differ mate. This site is full of delirious people and it's not a good source of viable information about Poland. This site is about people writing about what they think, me laughing and then crying about how stupid some of them are.

What ya gonna do create another thread about me: Just an FYI Wroclaw Boy is a stalker

Your success is measured on the amount of time youve spent out of Poland and everything associated.

They wouldnt would they, nothing worse than an expat trying to preach to the old country, they dont live in, they dont know or conveniently forgot.

I know you can't read Polish because if you could, (now I'm taking into account your compulsive nature of going through my posts), you would realize that I did NOT forget who I was. All I'm trying to say is that it's ok to change and adopt positive things from other cultures that can potentially enrich you. Also I'm asking people to stop being racist and xenophobic and to keep an open mind.

The problem with most Polacks is, (including you now), that they portray this all as a form of treason, and jealously attack it from all possible angles, yet on daily basis they whine about their misery, write in English on PF, watch Hollywood movies and dream of getting out of that sinkhole.

You're a selective reader and you tend to draw conclusions which are biased and quote them in order to prove your point.

I've been reading some of your posts as well and I've realized that you're unhappy and pissed off about being stuck in Poland which makes your statements kinda funny. lol

Sorry Havok, any complex-ridden person can't be a mentor for me...

huh? WTF are you talking about?

Majority of that forum was Americans of Polish descent, Poles living in the USA or Canada

Marysiu, most of us can easily tell who is Polish on PF.

Polish culture and the mentality are very homogeneous in comparison to Western Europe, partially because Poland was isolated for such a long time from the rest of the world. I also feel it's important to mention how overall little positive impact as a country we had on any other culture in the past 300 years. Most people abroad classify us as an insignificant former Eastern-Bloc country, and on a personal level confuse us with Russians or sometimes Germans.

Of course some of us may passionately argue that I'm "just full of it" and I'm wrong but ironically that's one of those dead giveaways for me about Polish posters.

For a long time Polish people were conditioned to resist assimilation, but in today's reality this mindset is highly problematic and it impairs the natural progress of many individuals living in Poland and Polish living abroad as well. Most Polish have a very hard time of letting it go and adjusting to new socioeconomic realities of today's world.

Paranoia, "Polish Church mentality", apprehensive mindset, unsubstantiated self-conscious approach to the "Polish self-image" are very common traits which are deeply embedded in Polish society like a cancer, that keeps on eating you from the inside out.

for starters, if you want to be successful try mimicking more successful people. (whatever your definition of success is)

My personal definition of success is a happy marriage, pretty wife that I can trust, secure financial well being, independence, comfortable lifestyle, and the ability to travel almost anywhere and anytime I wish. To make this happen it was necessary for me to make several mental leaps, but one thing is certain, I would not be able to get where i am with my Polish mindset. Do I regret changing? Nope. Adaptation is a sign of true intelligence.

Keep on standing still if you want and pretend whatever, I could care less.

Hey it wasn't me, but my lady. She thinks that you are an ass-hole. I hope it is simple enough for you.

How's that a secret? Anyways, my wife travels often to Pennsylvania to her office and she posted from there on multiple occasions while I was posting from TX at the same time. I think Ms. corrupted Pgtx knows it and that's why she is Polish- Jealous because a lot of things I've said checks out. Jealous jealous...

Upset?Last time I had my laugh at you. You sounded like a loon on crack !

I think the part of the problem is that sometimes I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say and i assume that you're trying to be mean to me, because most Polish are that way by default.

I'm adaptive and i can pick up on things quickly. Basically after a while i started to do exactly what you guys do. I guess i have a natural predisposition, and I'm good at it too!

My point: I don't care whatever you are one person with ten accounts on PF or ten people with one account.Whatever ....

I have only one account, i don't see a point in having more. Care to explain what would this be necessary? I'm not ashamed what i say and I don't care what people think about me either on PF

So you are an idiot, because PF in reality is an American forum and number of Poles writing here regularly is about 5 or 6.

I think you're wrong. The majority of people on this forum are Polish, it's really obvious. There are some who are from GB, but only a few maybe 5 or 6.

I'm not sure what your point is here. Sorry.

I'm not sure either, you sucks ....so far you have not been able to make a point let alone defend your position.

I didn't have a lot of contact with Polish over the years but I wanted to see if anything changed.
