Food / Stuffed cabbage - gołąbki - recipe [59]

Some suggestions for the adventurous:

Quote Polonius3-

yeah I think I am going to try your recipe Vs my moms.. she used the tomato soup, I have
seen various versions of it..

what I would like to know is what is the very first original recipe, without the cans :)

I am sure this took much longer :)

Love / Polish women USED TO BE much more attractive: [162]

Well My daughter lives on carbs.. she cannot process long chain fatty acids
we did buy however medium chain triglycerides to boost her energy , she says it helps

But I dont think its about just women getting fat, its about health in general and what
the food is doing to people.. genetically we are all pre-disposed to something.

There is so much preservatives in food, how can that even be good for Anyone?

lol did I kill this thread with truth?

awwwwwwwwwwww

sorry guys.. bottom line is, its not all to blame on food. it can be genetics and it doesnt
mean they will get bigger..

my daughter has to eat the carbs, she is just fine, each individual is different , its funny though
to see how men can be this way.. I made sure i educated my daughter on this.. that you will
run into some men who think that your supposed to look a certain way, but because of her
genetic disorder.. if she were to Stop eating she could die!!

so I think all of you really need to just calm yourself down and realize that unless your out to
help people, you need to really STHU and stop making it out to be a man preference rather
then health issues, if you care enough about people you will stop making snide comments
and just help them. if they dont want help at that moment, then say , well, when you need my
help I will be there..

How about starting a thread with some healthy suggestions on it instead of complaining..
what do you do for your meals.. do you eat out, do you dine in do you use certain spices?

do you eat more veggies, what kinds of soups are more healthy? what kinds of cakes can
the ladies eat without feeling guilty?

what do you find more beneficial for meal planning?

SHYZT people.. all kinds of ways to just say lets eat better and lets all be more healthy
together?? EHHH EHHHH

and it can happen in Poland and the US and THE UK.

it is about choice.. I will agree.. there are a Number of fast food places now going healthy
with oatmeal and fruit..

french fries are not bad for you if you cut them yourself and bake them.. how can that be bad?
if you soak them in Oil.. depending on which kind of oil.. <~some oils are good for you
because they are the essential fatty acids needed to break down into energy

there are ways to help.. it can be changed.. I think that the worry is valid.. but how its
presented sucks.. thats one thing I noticed about the European mentality, you dont beat
around the bush , and say things without giving any thought to how to say it.. maybe its
just a certain few who are like this, but my observations keep telling me this is how it is.

USA, Canada / Why are Polish restaurants not successful in the USA? [698]

Polish restaurants are relatively unknown. Why is this?

We only have one in our town,, and its well known.

They even have banquets for weddings, funerals and any other occasion you can think of.

But I have heard ( never been) of few others in and around my area and I plan to go try
them out just havent really had time to.

USA, Canada / Moving from United Kingdom to USA. Is it worth it? [136]

The usa is the s h i t stain of the earth. Enjoy your economy :D may your country fall so hard that it never rises again.

so you would wish hardship on people.. well says alot for you , I hope that a large quanity
of cloth eating beetles invade your underwear drawer and devour your fruit of the looms!!

and that you have nothing left to eat but toe cheese.. add that to your soup bud!

I think you've taken things a little off topic.

Food / Is Polish food still more natural than in the West? [142]

you know, I dont know why some of you get all upset at del,, some of what he says is true
but I dont think its Polish Americans trying to be like anyone, its more of the corporate side of it
trying to play the fake side of Culture.

for instance.. I went to a store ( wont mention) but I bought the golubki <~sorry I cant use the
diacritics ( not set up) but.. moving on with what I was saying.

I bought this ( what was supposed to be) golubki and it was the worst tasting mock food I ever
had.. I was disgusted and thought.. ok no wonder its laughed at.

if you make something homemade.. of course we are used to our own cooking and its delicious
but you sometimes want that extra moment and want to hurry and get dinner fixed and low and
behold.. food that shouldnt be even called edible..

it was a lesson well learned.. i wont sacrafice money and time again just to serve something that
was not even close to the same food we cook.

I will admit , one thing about making them is that they require time and patience and todays
food is like rubber, you could throw it at a wall and it will bounce back at you and it should
always be fresh or your setting up for disaster.

Love / Sigh... Polish girls have such pretty eyes. [51]

blue eyes have a magnetic quality to them - if had blue eyes I would fall in love with myself ;)

you can always buy contacts :) lol

I have ocean blue eyes :) Radiance is key :) Let your soul shine through them :) You can communicate so much through your eyes alone :)

Dear Seanus..

I am a married American ( polish decent) who wants to have ice blue eyes.. but I have hazel
eyes so they turn colors when the environment changes..

for instance.. if I am outside.. they can appear blue.. but green as well.. depending on the color
around ..

but on days that are gloomy they are gray, or when it gets darker out they turn brown but they
also turn brown when my husband forgets to do something.. :) or can appear red
if he makes me angry.. but thats only a short time.. I am usually over it.

I just wondered if they will stay this way once i get older.. I am so afraid my eyes will become
sad if I dont look the same to the person i love.. do you think? does it really matter if they do
or they dont as long as we decided to live together for the rest of our lives?

Hazel ;)

History / Defying Germaniztion in 1901 Polish boy writes 'German girls are ugly' [128]

But not for 14 year old kids.

I dont disagree that they could have just been talking, but Im not dismissing it either.

bottom line..he prob wrote that because of what was going on at that time..

Someone comes along and tells you what to do, you will hate everything they stand for.

thats what I interpret from the writer..

children came up with the idea of a protest without interference from their parents

They are hardly children.

pre-teens.. big difference.

I am sure they had alot more responsibilities.. kids were working back then for pennies to support
their families if the father died.. the son ( if he was of age) became the man of the house..

todays teens dont have that mentality.. they want to lay around and do nothing but listen to music
and if they have to lift a finger to do a dish or even put it in the dishwasher, I dont know about
anyone else, but I hear alot of *WOW* and OMG you make me do everything..

kids back in 1901 said yes mama and yes Papa.. not OMG and WOW!!!

:)

History / Defying Germaniztion in 1901 Polish boy writes 'German girls are ugly' [128]

The kids in question were 12 to 13 years old.

its starts around then..

Even earlier nowadays, but I seriously doubt that this 14 year old boy had so much sexual experience with both Polish and German women that he was able to compare. Not at that age,

he might not have , but I wouldnt doubt he said it cause he hears things from older boys
when your at a certain age, boys are talking about yeah, I was with lola the other night and
she was good, might not have even been true at all, but do you think hes going to say he
was a virgin around the other boys and get teased??? thats a boys nightmare!!

and they start liking girls at young ages... my husband said he was around 8 when he
started feeling really attracted to girls and he would punch them to get attention.. but
he said he was feeling more then punching.. it might have been less noticable then it is now
kids now just openly talk and in 1901 everything was hush hush to not shame your family.

so I doubt these boys would say hey mom, I just bagged a chick..

not in the prude society of 1901

you think people never had illegit kids??? that no one did anything bad?? LMAO
I find records of women who had kids that were illegit,, people did it then like they do now
but it was hidden back then.. you had to face the community back then now its dealt with by
their familys.. lots of cheating, children having children.. etc etc..

and not in a catholic community of that time. He was bragging and repeating what he heard at home.

this statement makes no sense.. maybe he repeated what he heard from a older sibling ( Male)
not from his catholic home ..... boys did it then and now..

my uncle bragged about how many women they had.. I questioned whether my dad had other
kids around the world.. I will never know.. but yeah, that was in the early 40s and society was
just as prude..

in 1901 it was prude, but doesnt mean they didnt do things like that.

[quote=TheOther]Beating students at school and kids at home was the norm at that time.[/

yeah regular beatings would have made me go to school too..

Back then they didnt have Police ( like 2011) so I am sure its possible for a large classroom
to stand up to these teachers, not necessarily do anything to them ,but not comply with
school rules and germanization, which is what they were rebelling against to begin with.
Patrycja19

History / Defying Germaniztion in 1901 Polish boy writes 'German girls are ugly' [128]

children simply didn't 'rebel'.

you have got to be kidding me!! I have a 14 year old and I remember 14 myself..
you think they dont rebel?? I wouldnt doubt this.. especially the time. how often was
Poland forced to write russian, and german.. age 14 thats when teens are figuring out
they have sexual feelings.. and they can only think about girls or boys..

The girls had been beaten on the hands and the boys on the buttocks.

this alone would trigger a whole classroom to revolt.. you going to stand around and watch some
teacher/person beat one of your friends over something you believe in strongly.. and I am sure
the culture at home was even stronger then it is today.

And by him saying they dont like german girls, its a counter attack from them forcing their
ideals on them.. hate everything they stand for even their women.

Feedback / Why are there so many on here, who do not like Poland [150]

wrong again, I don't mind to be judged as long as the person who does it, tells the truth and I gladly admit my mistakes if I feel like I'm wrong.

maybe you should read into the comment a little further,, read the poster, follow the poster
a little more and find out that he really isnt who you think he is.

I am sure mike's intentions were not to make anyone angry, I just think he has a vision he hopes
for a country he feels close to..

and personally, I dont think there is anything wrong with that.

Im not about to question something I have figured out a while ago.

all he wants is to see a better place and before he leaves this earth that he would want
to know where he came from, his ancestors.. yeah. read a little further .

any examples? have I ever copied you? NO and it will never happen. I prefer to be creative and trust my own judgement and "if anything", I'd rather "copy" my parents (much to learn from them indeed).

you are taking things way to seriously.

I wasnt trying to put you down in anyway. I was joking when I said that. I also put a smilie
on the end of it.

I wouldnt want you to copy me, I meant it as in I am older, so I couldnt copy you
since I have been in this world much longer..

Nonsense shouldn't be tolerated despite one's age.

you telling people now they cant joke around in a public forum? so its ok for you to speak
but your now the almighty?

few others agreed with me and found out why he said what he said, if you want to continue to make
an arse of yourself in the forum go ahead.

people are being judged

des said some really mean stuff to you the other day and you didnt like him judging you calling you
a ***** like he did not even knowing you, so what gives you the right to judge a older man who
never called you a name in his life and only was stating how he felt about poland?

Yeah why dont you make some sense instead of telling people they talk nonsense. you have no
right to judge if you dont want to be judged!

this is a public forum, not a job.

you said you react to anything.. just repeating what you said. I should hope you would
be *ALOT* nicer in person to someone wheeling by in a wheelchair..
Yeah, I think you would. I think you were just caught up in the moment.. :)

DON'T TRY TO COPY ME, PATRYCJA19, you're really not doing yourself a favor, trust me, lol (we're way too different).

Im not copying you at all, Im much older then you so if anythings copied its from me.

lol

and we have different views on some things.. we can agree sometimes. I just prefer to leave
the older generation alone.

but I'll always react when I read something that is opposing common sense and his statement did just that.

well dont get a job in the nursing home you will prob lose your job if you talk like that to
people in there just cause they said something you didnt like or react to.

* GUESSWHO* REACTING>> What do you mean you served in WWII.. I read books and common
sense tells me that what I do is right and everything you said is wrong!! you have no opinion.. you
just senseless..

to keep pigboy happy......

he is in his late 60s not a boy.. again can you just try to be a little more respectful

entitled to his opinion? Tell me about his opinion. What is it? That "Poland will be a world leader soon"?
According to what you're saying, we have to accept opinions even if they don't make any sense at all, right?

will you stop already.. yes he is entitled, why you want to argue with a old man?

thats pretty lame.

its not going to change the world if you argue your case.. he asked a simple question
and it sounded like he was joking and your arguing for fek sake again.. get over it already.

I said I appreciate your questioning, but he was joking.. anything else you need to know?

bollshit, the guy was basically, telling foreigners to get out of HIS country, if they don't like everything there(complaing is a luxury permitted only to native Poles). Whats positive about behaving like a pig.

so tonight are you going to lose any sleep??

he doesnt fully understand everything about the forum and why/who/what is going on.. as alot of
us can misunderstand posts/threads.. he feels strongly about Poland.

he asked a question and of course (MIKE) should understand that there are many things people
will not agree with you on..

but you dont need to be calling someone a pig when you dont even understand why he did it to
begin with.

Patriotism YES, blind patriotism NO.

do you deny your grandparents anything? do you argue with them about what they did in life vs what
you learned??

he prob was joking when he said that, because he had a great time. I dont really believe poland will
do you based on what he said??? will it change anything for you? nope.

its funny, you all want things your way, but you not even letting him use his freedom of speech
because he isnt entitled to his opinion now is he,, only yours is correct!

you can't deny people their legitimate opinions which don't trangress the boundaries of decency, can you? Many are not libellous here yet, at the same time, are not favourable towards Poland

I agree with you on this, however read my statment above as its also his reality so why cant he
express himself without getting the third degree.. soon as someone says something positive you all
flip you lid and start putting them down.. he hasnt experienced anything bad so WTF.. step off!

its not like he has to either.. he can say his piece. he said it someone commmented soon as he
stuck up for himself you all jump in like no, your not supposed to have a good experience, you all
should talk about how you went to the toilet in poland and had to pay a quarter for toilet paper or
my food had a fly in it.. or some polish guy farted on my lap when i was riding the bus!!

I dont get this everything has to be negative attitude.. you all are going to suffer from high blood
pressure if you dont feking stop.. worrying about such things all the time, yeah get it off your chest
but its rare I see anything good on here myself .. .its nice to see it.. to hear that people actually had
fun, and their experience wasnt all bad.

And thank you seanus for at least explaining yourself, its hard for others to understand without
people taking the time to really talk about why/what. I am sure all your experiences are not great
and this would go with any environment we live in.. its much nicer to see people actually talk about
what is bad in their country then for others who come in and start bashing and we all know who
they are.. its like a broken record and seriously I dont know about you, but I get sick of seeing it
all the time over and over and over.. some have no common sense to stfu.

thank you again.. and guesswho I know you mean well, he really is a good man and he is a grandpa
and I dont see very many unpatriotic grandpas.. all the older gents are very patriotic and thats
something they have been feeling since the WWII and so I dont question it, they brought us thru
some fekin hard times and we are lucky to be here now because of them ... thats all.

:) but I appreciate your post and why you asked, so thats why I am explaining this now.

we all know who could be the next superpower. but I dont think our govt will let that happen.
we pulled thru before.

Mike, Admin specifically asked posters to be truthful,

his reality is that he visited, so he doesnt have bad thoughts on poland his experience based on his
true feelings is that he had a great time, he loved the food, he loved the people he loved everything
and wants to go back.. he has not experienced the daily life in poland so hes not wrong in posting
what he feels same as anyone else.. but you can tell who is actually posting something worth reading
vs those who just want to rile people up..

hes part of our older generation people so lets not get idiotic and be dork brains and disrespect those
who lived a lot longer on this earth.

Mike is a really really nice guy thats all i have to say. you dont forget you manners offline so dont
forget them online.

News / Iwona Wieczorek - one year since her disappearance [8]

Exactly one year ago 18-year old Polish girl Iwona Wieczorek disappeared in Sopot.

Robert, I am glad you posted this, cause there is a reality here, they suffer the same pains
everyone around the world does.. people come up missing in every country.

its sad, I pray they find her.
