News / Officials in Poland are hailing an upcoming visit by Donald Trump [720]

car insurance

Don't worry. If Trump had his way, most people in Europe wouldn't be able to afford cars anyway.

Germany is too soft on Native left and ethnic right groups.

Perhaps something happened in their history to make them wary of authoritarianism. I wonder what...

That's good news.

Re. A Korczak tattoo, the main thing is that he's very recognisable. About being liked, I've met someone who knew him well and was rather dismissive of him, without saying why's a given the person's age, I didn't want to push it.

General Michał Tokarzewski-Karasiewicz would also make a good subject. A great Pole and much loved.

Pilsudzki too. An instantly recognisable iconic figure. Or perhaps the Czarna Madonna.

Or maybe a tattoo of Violetta Villas, one that wiggles her hair when muscles are flexed.

@delphiandomine
Not just Poland, but almost every school in Europe except places like Summerhill and Scotty Road (both now closed) haven't taken on board his philosophy in full. Quite a few children's homes round the world have adopted his Children's Republic idea and that in many ways is his legacy.

He's always remembered for the circumstances of his death. People forget that he was once Poland's most popular radio broadcaster and one of the world's first television broadcasters.

And he's recognisable enough to make a good tattoo.

trying to show Poland at the same time as a "bastion of freedom".

More that Poles always give a good welcome to foreign leaders regardless of who they are, or whether they're liked our not, whereas Trump lacks support in Europe as a whole.

Or perhaps one of Janusz Korczak, the Stary Wiktor, a true Polish hero and a very special person.

Remember that pretending people are self employed means that their employer can dodge any responsibilities connected with the new workplace pension.

Life / Best typical Polish city to live in ??!! [3]

Skierniewice

It's a bit crap there. Maybe typical for marketing purposes. Sieradz is a fairly typical place, Siewierz too. Skierniewice is an ok example however more and more it's becoming the edge of Warsaw commuter land.

The Nazis claimed that we Poles were retarded they gave us a name "untermensch"

Yes. They were evil. Nobody is either untermensch or herrenvolk, not the most basic African nor the most advanced Jap or European. People are people. Donald Trump's visit to Poland justifies nothing. Poland is not nor will ever be anyone's patsy. Not the Russians, not the Yanks, not anybody's.

people from Western Europe envy Poland for being the first country in Europe where Donald decided to arrive in.

I suspect most of Europe is actually quite relieved that Poland are having to put up with him. There's real concern in the UK that he may try to visit.
