Why it always has to be Europe or/and US coming to the rescue?

....our streets are plastered with gold and the rivers are filled with milk and we sh*it chocolate?

Well, Germany at least has the treaty that we only have to take asylumseekers if they don't come through another EU country...and seeing that we are surrounded by safe countries that should make it hard for them to go through to us...theoretically!

Nun ja...I don't know any funny stereotypes about Jews to be honest (the same with Blacks).

So we are portrayed as everlasting pot smokers, or dumb, cheese eating farmers walking around in clogs ... I can't really say I feel overly insulted by that.

But I don't know any "dumb Dutch" jokes...really...

Exactly. We have a stereotype of the Dutch all being sex crazed monsters who ride bikes and stick their thumbs in dikes while wearing clogs. Heck, even one guy named his flat the "Lothar Mattheus" flat in order to make sure that Dutch people didn't visit!

Yeah....but I think also Dutchies would feel insulted if portrayed as drunk, dumb thieves only...

There IS a difference I fear.

Question...how can Poles achieve "better" stereotypes?

I mean...we Germans got our humourless Nazi type also not before the 30's/40's....so stereotypes can change!
Before that we had been the "merry band with the funny jokes who suck at football". ;)

BB it's all about the severity of the joke, if it's implying that a people are stupid, or drunks, or thieves it's worse than someone going on stereotypes

Okay...I get what you mean!

I'm not sure how to go about I just know from experience that our own turkish/arab comedian who makes a living on playing all possible stereotypes between Arabs/Turks/Germans/Italians/Greeks and so on did more for a better image of Turks with the Germans than all lofty sunday speeches by politicians.

I just think doing the indignant/protest ritual every time somebody makes a joke does NOTHING to better your image.

Poland should really take the mickey out of Germans in the same spirit...I know it worked with our constant mockery rival the English (and the Dutch). That was really mean once but got now much better...

well, you gonna miss a lot, since Germany is a very interesting country, but suit yourself.

Better that way anyhow....I think he would only be grumpy all the time and look everywhere so long as to get his brought with him stereotypes verified. Only then he will be happy.

I will not travel to Germany ever to spend my tourist dollars there if they continue to produce garbage like this.
