UK, Ireland / Modern day slavery in the UK [36]

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2742086/They-said-theyd-murder-I-left-Beaten-starved-40-year-old-man-kept-slave-concentration-camp-conditions-FINALLY-sees-captors-brought-justice.html

the 'losers' here had mental health problems or were alcoholics

well readers I DID IT and phoned crimestoppers.
also another person from this this thread is going to phone the local police.
Therefore we have a double pronged attack.
It does bother me that my actions might push people into crisis but.....

Study / Do Polish students 'look down' on foreign students from Asia studying medicine here? Racist behaviours noted. [16]

to be honest I am not sure it is 'racism' just old fashioned curiosity on the whole. If you go to Poland as a foreigner of any colour, prepare to be stared at.

as for 'kurwa; I think people say that all the time anyway.

although on the other hand it could be racism - good grief my sister in law who is about 38 now had to learn about 'little black sambo who lives in a tree in africa' at school.

UK, Ireland / Modern day slavery in the UK [36]

so it seems that a local businessperson who sells tractors and cars has a group of Polish men and one woman living in a shed on his property and he pays them 70 pounds a week for full time work!

I knew another Polish guy that was there, for example if he earnt 100 then the crappy accomodation (an old touring caravan) cost 130, something like that, so that you were always in debt to the boss.

This makes me so cross!! Recently modern day slavery in the UK has been brought to the attention of the public and I always say I wish I could do somehting about it/

I wonder what I could do here? The thing is, what if people dont want to be 'rescued', when that woulld mean more homelessness

You just cannot win with some people!!

Love / So I am told Polish men are a chivalrous bunch? [49]

If you are an attractive lady, it's common for Polish men to be chivalrous :)

have you got any idea at all how creepy that sounds? not to mention the super creepy little smily face.
I would agree with smurf here, who wants a man to rush forwards to open a door for a lady if upon marriage he thinks she should be his slavey.

Normal people, for example here in the UK, would hold the door open for whoever was behind them, regardless of sex appeal or even gender.

IME with Polish men they are quite happy to sit with their feet up while their sister or wife carries a carpet home for the house on her back.

How chivalrous is that? :D

Life / Why there's no STREET FOOD culture in Poland? [8]

actually it is a really stupid question - northern ~European countries do not have much of a street food culture for obvious reasons/
In London you used to be able to buy hot chestnuts from a person with a brazier all fired up but health and safety put a stop to that,

Life / Emigrate / Immigrate to Poland? I don't need to work. [33]

Judging by the replies ,so far, you should ask yourself what the average age of members on this forum is.

he has had some sensible and mature responses IMO - how old do you think people are here, teenagers?
Here is someone whining about the lack of community spirit and that they are thinking of moving to a country where they dont know the language to find it..........hmmmm.

I wonder if he does anything to contribute to the community in the UK? I really doubt it, he sounds immature if anyone does.

"With regard to the community spirit, well if there is none, it will be on parr with what we currently have in the UK. I revolve in a society where no one has time to care, but I survive just fine"

If you cannot find any community spirit in the UK you certainly will not be able to find it somewhere where you dont even speak the language.
