Language / Free and accurate Online Polish-English / English-Polish translator? [49]

I agree that the translators don't work all the time. I translated a letter from the Polish Government and it said nothing about needing a work permit. I asked a Polish person to read it and they said "ohh they are asking for a work permit".

Language / learning Polish using American phonics [24]

Hello,

I have been learning Polish for a bit over a year. Now I have an advantage because I live in Poland.

I have a very large vocabulary. I understand how most things work but I would say that I can't speak yet.

I can make my self understood and I can understand some conversations.

There is a good book series.

There is a new one over on harper just north of 13 mile called Celinas.

Cheap and very very good.

Celina is a very nice lady.

Work / Are you teaching English in Poland? [120]

The instructor gave a few reasons for people not passing.

1. to much partying
2. not passing 3 of 4 written assignments

I was told most people get a Pass.
1 or 2 get a Pass B
and rarely someone will get a Pass A
usually 1 person fails.

I guess that does not count people who drop out.

Any other hints?

I leave for Wroclaw on the 25th. Has anyone taken the CELTA class there? What can I expect? Is there anything I can prepare for?

Work / Advice on Teaching English in Poland [709]

I have a question. This sounds like a great way to do it. However, how does a Non-EU person come there for any length of time? If I come there in a month and a half to look it would only be on a visitor visa. How can I come and job hunt and stay with out having to fly back to the US?

Probably easiest to find a job once you're 'on-the-ground'. Present yourself well, up-date your CV (resume) and do the rounds of schools in the area. You are more likely to find work at certain time of the year than others - start of the academic year is best.

Work / Are you teaching English in Poland? [120]

I just talked to the Profi school in Poznan.

As a rule all the schools I have talked to seem excited. I have not had much response back though.

It does not sound interesting at all. However, with a year of callan and a CELTA it should be easy to find a job the next year.

Work / Are you teaching English in Poland? [120]

It would be my first position. My whole thing is to get there.

I have a degree. I will be taking a weekend class starting this weekend.

Its a 60 hour course. I know its not CELTA.

Work / Are you teaching English in Poland? [120]

I was offered a callan job at 32pl per hour with 20 hours garenteed. Plus 25pl cash for private lessons.

Its not my first choice. I have a few other things in the works and might take the CELTA class in Wroclaw in September.

Life / Polish people and racism. [943]

People are People.

There are good and bad of every race or nationality.

The more you are raised in diversity the more you are accepting of it.

Love / The age of consent in Poland is only 15 [147]

In the US the age varies by state as explained above. However, someone over 18 is not supposed to have sex with someone under 18. This is considered sex with a minor.

I think non has the hots for his friends sister.

Work / Advice on Teaching English in Poland [709]

Right now I am planning on taking the CELTA course in Wrocław in July. Will this leave me enough time to find a position for the fall?

Love / Polish girls, how are they when they are in love? [86]

Hello

Angel thats exactly what happened with my lady.

M-G, maybe she is seeing if you will chase her, some women are like that. They want to be sure how you feel before they commit them selfs.

THe only thing I can suggest is patience.

Love / Polish girls, how are they when they are in love? [86]

Hi M-G

I dont think nationality has anything to do with it. My GF don't play games at all. Her honesty is one of the things I like best about her.

Maybe she has been hurt before or doesn't know how she feels.

Love / I fancy a polish girl from my school! [139]

Ask her out already. You don't want to know her to long and have her consider you Just Friends. When a woman smiles at you like that she is thinking " when is going to ask me out?"...

So ask her already. The worst thing she can do is say no.....
