News / Is Poland headed for a civil war? [30]

The only real poverty in Poland is self made.

Hope fate doesn,t deal you a cruel hand then, you might yet eat your own words.

News / Is Poland headed for a civil war? [30]

I don't see any hungry people around me.

Like I said, fortunate, you must walk in the right circles. I see many around my neck of the woods leading a meagre existence. It ain,t pretty either. It,s sad.

I wasn't aware

Aware ...... ????????????

News / Is Poland headed for a civil war? [30]

But still, there are not enough insane people like the old guy who assasinated Rosiak to fuel a civil war.

If prices continue to increase, making the cost of living more intolerable, then you won,t need insane people to instigate civil unrest. Hungry people are more dangerous !!

UK, Ireland / EXCHANGE RATES BETWEEN POLISH ZLOTY AND BRITISH POUND [73]

WHY ? ................ Optimistic forecasts ?

They claim to have a strong domestic market, but that,s absolute rubbish when compared to the rest of europe. ( and I do get around )

Beats me. I think something is gobbledygook.

Life / Fascination of Poles with German Laundry Detergent [16]

Polish products are often doctored with useless additives. I have found residue of sand in Polish washing powder.
Also laundry has come out smelling vile.
Don,t particularly care why, I simply buy imported products and have no qualms.
I even find purchase from abroad and courier charges cheaper than buying from the internal Polish market.
Those of you prepared to be ripped off, carry on, lol.

We've already had the dicussion that they might not like lamb...

I make mine with minced pork and seasoning, there,s different recipes that you don,t have to follow out a cookery book. ( that,s if you,re good in the kitchen ) lol

Just try this culinary favourite then : " Beans on toast ", washed down with a cup of charlie.

Love / Polish girls and jealousy. They always suspect I have other gfs. [33]

Why are polish girls so jealous? They always suspect I have other gfs.

Don,t date Polish girls if you know what they,re like. ( Polish trait )

Then again, aren,t most women the same ?

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned . . . . .

Meaning: A woman rejected in love can be very angry and dangerous.

UK, Ireland / Polish question: what's with the Germans, Brits? Foreign groups in Great Britain. [46]

The Brits once had an empire, the Gerries had Hitler. So when you ask what it is between these two, is ....... they both would like to be the dominant nation in Europe.

The Brits have a similar thing with the Froggies, but they are weedy turncoats.
Both Brits and Gerries deem other european nations below them. Lets face it, who calls the most shots in the EU ?
Between them, they rule Europe.
When they meet eachother in a football fixture, it,s more than football, it,s national pride at stake.

Work / Can my husband work abroad with his TRC and come back to Poland? [8]

To work outside of Poland he would need the appropriate registration of whatever country he chooses to work in.
For example, in the UK he would need an address and qualify for a national insurance number, without which, he would not be able to find employment legally.

Poland has to accept him as your spouse, but as he does not hold EU ID, or passport his movement could be restricted.
Probably not the news you wanted to hear but you must face facts unfortunately.

Life / Polish ghost stories [38]

On a late arrival to Poland on all souls day, I was surprised to see the church open just on the stroke of midnight. Great, I thought, this will earn me a few brownie points with my old aunties. So I attended a pleasant mass in latin, which I last experienced when I was a kid.

The next morning at breakfast I explained my late arrival and the fact that I attended the midnight mass. My relatives looked in horror as I described the priest, whom they seemed to recall as one who had passed over in the early 1900,s and also that there was no such masses scheduled at that time.

Has anyone heard this saying in Poland ...... " The day is for the living, the night is for the dead "

This was a mass for the dead.

Don,t have nightmares now ..........

Food / Is Polish food still more natural than in the West? [142]

The good natural foods in Poland are in decline due to EU policies, soon it will be as bad as anywhere else in europe. Plus in order to make ends meet, livestock farming conditions have also deteriorated.

Pity we can,t go back to the old ways, sometimes old methods are better than the new.

Real Estate / TRESPASSING ON MY LAND IN POLAND....what can i do legally...? [119]

When my neighbour emigrated to the states, his place was taken apart brick by brick. The banging of sledge hammers went on day and night all year long until all that was left of a 600m dwelling was a pile of rubble.

When I reported these goings on to the police chief, he told me, each must take care of their own. Thanks I said, tomorrow it might happen to you, so I will remember your advice.

Seven hectares of chain link fencing has subsequently gone to the scrapper too.
The orchard resembles something after a fallout.... need I say more ?

My advice would be to beat them to picking the fruit, and if they show up beat them with a baseball bat. They are hardly going to report you, after trying to steal YOUR fruit.

As for moving.... count your loses, unless you install a caretaker. Maybe use the same scum that are ripping you off, ( contract of course ) and get someone to look in from time to time, unannounced.

Good luck wildrover, hope to bump into you before you leave.

News / Does Poland live up to its freedom rights? [23]

Corruption is part of life in almost every country.

Everything has a level / threshold, PL,s is still rather high to my liking.

Poles are afraid to speak out of line? Really?

Depends what circles you are involved with.

Better? It is getting better all the time

No, not with the present ruling party. People say they are happy with the peace, ( meaning they are happy not to be investigated ) that they have been left with a free hand, as they likewise leave the gov. with a free hand.

This is where corruption still exists, and with gov. officials involved. ( always these affairs are publicized through the media ) ...... every week, at times.

With this current understanding " its not getting better all the time " but is standing in one place and not moving forward as rapidly as it could.

This is only my personal opinion, but what the heck that,s what debates are all about, eh ?

News / Does Poland live up to its freedom rights? [23]

Does Poland live up to its freedom rights?

No, categorically no..

still too many afraid to speak out of line..

still corruption exists..

what other populus puts up with some of the sh1t going on in current affairs..

elected by the people, just do their own thing ( with decisions ) regardless what those who put them into power think. ie. The cross issue in Warsaw.

Many have seen a 100% improvement since the fall of communism, but dont realize it can still be 100% better.
