History / Polish flag over the Reichstag first? [399]

I'm providing historical facts based on quite a few links in the meantime.

True but one battle doesn't make a war. The Soviet Army defeated Hitler's German war machine. They were defeated by the time of the 1944 Normandy invasion (yes, the weather helped).

Germany was going to attack France whether France declared war or not.

They wouldn't be able to after losing huge Armies in Russia.

History / Polish flag over the Reichstag first? [399]

No exception here. At the beginning of the WW2, if Hitler wouldn't go so many different directions, the Germans if they attacked just one country at the time, would have beaten any army out there.

The German Army lost to the Russian Army. England and France did not have to declare war on Germany so soon. They should have waited longer for Germany to exhaust itself in Russia, afterall that's what happened eventually.

News / Can Russia be a good partner for Poland? [42]

Poland and Russia? Impossible! Poland and Russia have too many competing interests to be allies. Yes, the problem is they are neighbors! For instance, Poland needs natural gas. Poland would be better off buying nat gas from another country that has no competing interest with Poland (Norway). Poland should steer clear of Russia, nothing but trouble. Just look at history.

News / Polish Primate condemns EU's anti-Christianity [29]

this EU is a precursor for a world government, although the model is on a smaller scale.

The precursor to World Government is the Roman Catholic Church. The entire fascist movement (including Nazism) in 1930's Europe was intended to restore the Roman Catholic Church to Political Primacy that they had in Pre-Reformation Europe. The office of the Pope is modeled after the Roman Emperors, it is not modeled after Jesus Christ.

UK, Ireland / I worry about the Poles working in the UK [77]

Maybe MRr No, needs to accept the free-market economy.

What a laugh, "free market economy". It's not about free market economy, it's about lowering your labor costs to maximize profit. Unfortunately this business model doesn't work as it eventually destroys demand. The native Irish cannot compete with the immigrant Poles. The exchange rate alone between the zloty and the pound Sterling is enough to give the Pole a huge advantage.

USA, Canada / Getting a VISA to USA by a Polish person nowadays [339]

Unions. A concept which is way past its time. Just look at the UAW and you'll get an idea of what's wrong with them. The UAW played a big part in wrecking the auto industry in the US.

Of course management with their million dollar salary's had nothing to do with the auto industry's demise. It was all those $25/hr shop workers.

USA, Canada / REFUSED A HOLIDAY VISA TO THE U.S CAUSE IM POLISH [323]

But as far as massive waves of people crossing the border, you cannot stop it at the border.

Yeah we can. If we can have 100,000 troops in Afghanistan and 50,000 in Iraq guarding their borders we can certainly have about 100,000 National Guardsman protecting our border.

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

When the first major snow feel in Krakow, the snow ploughs couldn't get through the traffic and had to have police escorts, so the mayor made all public transport free, to encourage people not to drive.

that is not a bad idea at all and I can see that the Krakow mayor is a smart man.

They're supposed to plow in the middle of the night when the traffic is down.

News / US Military: The Army of Poland is crap. [124]

"It was as if the [Polish] were waiting for us to come back and release them from their base" one anonymous officer told Time magazine. "[the Poles are] just kind of hanging around," he added.

It looks to me like the Poles don't want to get their butts shot. I Don't blame them.

Well, if the U.S. army was so great, then how come the local Afghans were much happier with Dutch soldiers?

Apparently the Dutch were very successful We should pull out and let the Dutch take over. AJ how about an Afghan holiday?

In that case, they shouldn't enlist. Enlisting means you have to go wherever the govt sends you and it could mean you have to engage in combat.

Defense of one's country is the responsibility of all the citizens and not just the ones who decided to volunteer.

Life / During winter in Poland, does petrol in the car freezes [60]

No one in their right mind would intentionally put water (washer fluid) in their fuel tank, ever, especially in the winter.

In WWII fighter planes, used water injection for extra boost. Water contains hydrogen and cools the charge preventing detonation. Water with alcohol will not freeze. Water injection units still sold today for cars. Check out SNOWS: snowperformance.net.

USA, Canada / Expat Poles swearing allegiance to the US - how did you feel? [157]

Its almost like citizens are getting down on their knees and thanking America for the very fact that they are there, hypocrisy of the highest order.

Well it's either that or being a "Subject of the Queen"

Life / During winter in Poland, does petrol in the car freezes [60]

Yeah, you can use hot water to unfreeze stuff but you have to wipe it dry so it doesn't refreeze.

to keep gas lines from freezing we use either ethanol or methanol, even if it has water it it. Alcohols are miscible with water. Ever heard of whiskey and water?

Life / During winter in Poland, does petrol in the car freezes [60]

Does the petrol in the car freezes and become ice, since the temperature drops to - degrees. Is that the case

In the Northern US we use ethanol or methanol to keep water in fuel from freezing in low spots in fuel line. So what you do in Poland is find the cheapest bottle of vodka that you can find and put about a pint in with every fill up (or window washer fluid should have methanol in it). This should work with either diesel or gasoline.

If the low spots have already frozen than the only thing to do is take the car to a heated garage and thaw it out.

When parking overnight in really cold conditions we also have engine block heaters that plug into an electrical outlet from your house. These keep the coolant warm overnight. Starting guaranteed with these block heaters.

History / Why did Hitler kill so many Jews in Poland? [261]

Lovely. Now explain about your statement "Nazism was an attempt at their [Roman Catholic Church] return to political preeminence in Europe."

I summarized 600 years of European history in a small paragraph, try this:

History / Why did Hitler kill so many Jews in Poland? [261]

Do you come with those new revelations often?

The information about the Roman Catholic Inquisition was released by the Polish Pope who apologized profusely in 1999, for the Inquisition.

BTW I'm allmost sure that Polish Inqusition killed less people then American Protestants killed witches.

There was no Inquisition in Poland. Because of the Inquisition Poland invited the Jews into Poland as a refuge. Read your history.

History / Why did Hitler kill so many Jews in Poland? [261]

Why did Hitler kill so many Jew's in Poland?

It was the Roman Catholic Church.

After the fall of the Roman Empire they were two educated classes in Europe, the merchant class jews and the religious clerics of the Roman Church. The illiterate warlords of medieval Europe needed an educated class to handle the affairs of their fiefdoms. The Jews and Roman Church clerics competed for the jobs and power. In 1200 AD the roman church started the Inquisition, they killed and tortured any one who was a threat to their political power. They especially targeted the Jews. For 600 yrs. from 1200AD-1800AD the Roman Catholic Church ran Europe like a Nazi Concentration camp. Remember Galileo, under house arrest for 30 years barely escaping the death penalty for suggesting that the earth rotated around the sun? That was the inquisition. Napoleon and the Napoleonic wars put an end to the Inquisition. Since that time the RCC gradually lost political power and by approximately 1850 AD they were relegated to the Vatican. Ever since, they have been trying to regain their lost political position in Europe. Nazism was an attempt at their return to political preeminence in Europe. That's why the Jews were killed.

USA, Canada / A Polish-American Paper's Final Edition [10]

I prefer reading paper newspapers but the problem is they are poorly written and very biased. You have to get on the internet to get objective journalism.

USA, Canada / Canada Increasingly a Gateway for Undocumented Polish Immigrants Entering the U.S. [150]

Convex, we (the USA) has a easy money policy because that's all we have. It was a political decision to outsource our manufacturing to China, our service jobs to India and to allow illegal immigration to lower wages because that's where the profits are.

Without easy money we would be a third world country. People shouldn't take minimum wage jobs, business can afford to pay more, a lot more. Remember Henry Ford raised labor rates three fold so that his workers could buy his cars.

News / Poles don't have a heart for math... says The New York Times [84]

To learn higher maths you need special predispositions. You born with it, just like some people born with art or music talents.

Theoretical research math, maybe. Algebra through Calculus, Statistics, anyone can learn. All it takes is to think logically.

Work / If you were to compere Polish Unis and Unis/Colleges in your country... [75]

There are many threads where people ask is it good idea to study in Poland, so I think such thread may help to make the right choice. I'm also curiouse how does higher education abroad look like, is it really flawless as we in Poland see it? Are all American, British and German unis so good or it also happens that some college or faculties don't come up to the (student's, market's, standard's) expectations?

American universities have open enrollment, so anyone can attend. But you need money: cash, grants or loans. Due to open enrollment no class distinction associated with college education. Socratic method of education (class discussion, questions, etc.) no rote memory. Lots of money available for Universities from research grants, endowments (graduates donate money to school), tuition and state funding.

Regardless of where you attend, education is what you make of it.
