Life / Homosexuality in Polish Culture [231]

the normal folks

How on earth would you of all people know what is normal. Or anything at all about the topic: homosexuality in Polish culture.

When you eventually grow up a bit you will probably realise that here in Poland we have people from all walks of life who tend to get on with things.

I'm not the one with the mental illness.

Nor me, trener. Homosexuality isn't a mental illness.

You keep trying to use this not for any reason but in attempt to silence me

Or stay on topic.

You're like a gay Nazi. You would have my kind exterminated if you could, if that's what it took in order to advance your cause. Such hatred is hardly worthy of sympathy and is borne of self hatred.

Strange. Probably just trolling but who knows? You should grow up a bit before posting.

Anyway - what do you actually know about homosexuality in Polish culture? Or polish culture at all?

Experts lie

You're entitled to your views, however weird.

I know that it is a mental illness the world over.

So in fact you don't know anything about the topic of this thread. Buzz off and stop trolling.

I know that it is a mental illness

You pretend you think it is. Experts disagree.

But the question (and the topic of this thread) is about Poland, a country to which you have no connection and have never visited. So what, if anything, do you know about homosexuality in Polish culture? Let's start maybe with Aleksander Fredro.

And proud of it. Better that than a waste of space with multiple usernames trolling a Polish forum despite never having been here or speaking the language.

So what exactly do you know about homosexiuality in Polish culture?

History / Why did Hitler kill so many Jews in Poland? [261]

The Hilter movement was a runoff of a 19th century Left-wing Marxist Socialist anti-Christian Greenpeace movement!

Hilter opened up his Beerhall club in Vienna (Austria) which was not in Germany,

What are you smoking and where can I get some?

Just like most women hate the extremist feminism. But we should not forget how much the feminism movement did for women rights.

Exactly. Without them, it's back to the burkha. And without the parades, and the ones "Aston doesn't like because they're too obvious, it's back to ruined lives and jail sentences.

Sorry, but I believe in a natural way of being and in the reason

Yes and homosexuality is natural. If some people are offended by public displays of affection it is their complexes and hang-ups.

Here in Poland, where homosexuality has always had its role in culture, most intelligent liberal people don't care.

Right

Wrong. Were you on the parade or do you just prefer to salivate over people's photos of the more exotic bits?

one may be tolerant towards homosexuals and don't be intimidated with the whole political correctness

You mean afraid of reality?

BS towards Jews (or any other "untouchable" group out there)

Didn't take you long to come out with some racist stuff. If you can't make a decent point, you should stay out of the discussion.

It's not what you read in Gazeta Wyborcza, right?

Meaningless.

However, the most annoying is when people (not all!) exaggerate in striving for acceptance.

You are missing the point. LGBT people are not 'striving for acceptance'. We are striving to be ignored.

What I want to say, is that such behaviour doesn't make it easier for homosexuals

So what in your opinion does 'make it easier'.

the social situation of homosexual people is worse than this of transsexuals, even though both groups are in the same boat.

Surely you aren't suggesting that the two are mutually exclusive. Trans people, as you well know, Aston, can be homosexual or (as in your case) homophobic.

it is rather about trying to adapt the society to yourself. I think this is what drives people mad.

So you're saying it's OK as long as people hide?

UK, Ireland / Poles top the UK's EU crime figures [78]

How, many French born people are in England? Very few.

Well over half the number of Polish-born people.

The list really confirms that Poles in England are actually commiting less crime than most per capita.

In fact it confirms the reverse.

Problem with Poland is that the most visible gay movement comprises of idiots who show their fat asses in pink lingerie on some parades

I don't remember seeing 'pink lingerie' on this year's parade - or any other.

Understandably, many people get into active defense mode after seeing that kind of events.

Do you often see 'that kind of events'? Perhaps you were among the thousands of people waving from their balconies. Stick to starting anti-semitic threads rather than talking about things you know nothing about.

For the record, this year's parade was rather a good one - surprisingly, between a third and a half of the participants weren't gay. I got a bit sunburnt carrying one end of a banner for three hours, but all in all it was a good one.

Yes, but City is still the pick of the bunch.

I was in there the other day and didn't think much of it - mind you, it was karaoke night.

Między Nami... Flow ... Meta

Hunters, Toro, Galeria, Glam

Of those only Między Nami, Toro Galeria and (maybe) Glam can really be called gay. As far as I know Fantom and Wild are still going, for those who like that. Personally I prefer Lodi Dodi and Piotruś for reasons of good taste and quiet music.

You've got quite a thing about OCD and apes, haven't you?

Stormfront has alot more intelligent people than here.

Interesting you read Stormfront...

The fact remains that when Poland joined the EU and there was mass migration from Poland B, crime figures drastically dropped in some rural areas - all the local smarkaczy had gone to the UK.

Travel / Cycling on the footpath in Warsaw - not permitted? [4]

Warsaw drivers have a murderous disregard for any cyclist foolishly using the road.

This much is true! It does seem though that the dreadful driving habits of Polish motorists have rubbed off a bit on the cyclists who use the pavements.

Travel / Cycling on the footpath in Warsaw - not permitted? [4]

I recently read somewhere (In Your Pocket I think) that cycling on the footpath in Warsaw is not permitted

It's illegal but plenty of cyclists do it. The annoying thing is that they do it so casually and some of them expect people to get out of their way, but yell at anyone walking on a cycle path.

Life / The day Poland ran out of artists. [40]

By the way, have you seen the sculpture exhibition that's on at the moment in the gardens of the Novotel Okęcie? There are some really good pieces and it is worth a visit - there are works by a lot of the post-war big names plus a few pieces from younger sculptors.

Bartana is not even Polish.

More Polish than you - she at least lives here. She is a Polish Artist, you are not. I invite you to come to Warsaw one day and see what the real situation is here.

I am a Polish American Artist.

Rather than a Polish artist. At least Yael Bartana actually lives and creates art here.

Poland has had some of the most Interesting Artsts

Has had. So who (apart from some good sculptors who are largely ignored) do we have now?

News / How long will it take for the first 9/11 to occur in Poland? [55]

Hopefully Poland's exemplary behavior towards its own Muslim population and it lack of meddling in the Arab world, that is until the Iraq War fiasco, will keep Poland off the list of targets for terrorists.

For once you are right. Israel does what they feel they have to - no country would want to be in their situation. But Poland has handled the situation very well, czyli treat everyone decently.

History / German Traitor And Polish Pig [96]

it took place between submariners from nations with Germanic roots

Not all British people have 'Germanic roots' - they can just as easily have Irish roots only. It wouldn't make much difference either way, since the Anglo-Saxon invasions were around 40 generations ago. The British don't feel some sort of weird affinity to the Germans.

who hadn't been locked in a brutal struggle unto the death for one thousand years like Poles and Germans have been.

WFT?? There are plenty of instances of Germans and Poles co-operating over the years. Over the centuries, during good times and bad, and today. How long have you actually lived in Poland? Or if you don't live here, how many times have you visited? Ever?

USA, Canada / Where to buy Polish National Soccer Team jersey in the US? [9]

but not watched as much, as real football.

It isn't 'real' footbal. It's a local variant - it has no great appeal outside one particular country. Real football (that you call soccer) is the international game.

I think that "American Rugby" would be a more accurate name. Of course British rugby is a much tougher game, played without the body armour.

Very true.
