USA, Canada / Expat Poles swearing allegiance to the US - how did you feel? [157]

Said one of the top 10 morons on PF, lol Your opinion means absolutely nothing to me.
My financial situation is better already than yours ever will be so worry about yourself.

Exactly we're talking about Poles living in the States, not Poles in Poland. What makes me angry is (i have to use this term now) "Pollacks" who come to America been there a few months or years, and they start talking bs about how things are here. Or can't speak English nor have legal status and walk around like they're better than everyone else, cause he was somebody back in his village in Poland, ignorant.

If you wanna work hard don't matter if it's with your mind or with your hands you can actually have a pretty good life here and in a short period of time. What can a person in Poland have? a bad back. My uncle worked for 35 years in a steel mill doesn't even have a junk car, doesn't drink his wages, doesn't spend money on nonsense, just could feed clothe and send his children to college.

dual citizenship - US doesn't care if you don't give up Polish passport

US might start to care and soon, new threats of terrorism might even get alot harder to become
an American citizen.

Seriously, GTFO and go back to Poland if you hate it here so much

Trainer calm down man, although i do agree if people don't like it so much, then leave, America isn't gonna change for no one.

Western Canada, but the visa issues - dude its complicated and bloody expensive for me.

I've heard it's the hardest to become a citizen of Australian and New Zealand, but Western Canada Vancouver is filled with Asians. Are you a Polish citizen? you've been there for a long time right?

does Poland recognise dual citizenship? (genuine question)

Polish law does not explicitly allow dual citizenship, but possession of another citizenship is tolerated since there are no penalties for its possession alone:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_nationality_law#Dual_citizenship

I think that explains it, it's tolerated. What i don't understand is Karta Polaka issued to people in their 80s and 90s, must simply serve an ideological purpose.

News / "Letter from Poland" (List z Polski) by the Netherlands TV - [9]

Just one question: why would they risk so much by killing the president, instead of just patiently waiting till the election

And why did Putin risk so much blowing up that apartment block in Moscow? his own people just to re invade Chechnya? Putin was afraid Kaczynski or his twin brother might be elected president. It wasn't just them top PiS officials died, people who had power and influence in government or military, conservatives like Kaczynski that's why. Now look what happening without Kaczynski and others PiS is falling apart, split down the middle. Kaczynski was uniting Eastern European nations against Russian dominance in the region, Putin had a good reason. Loosing influence in what they believe to be their sphere of influence is important, Poland was against the Nordsteam pipeline, wanted American missile bases on its territory Czechs a radar station, Ukraine wanted NATO and EU, Georgia too, this all means being surrounded by nations who were not gonna be manipulated by Russia and Russia loosing money. 70% of Russian elite are former KGB agents, lies and murder are how they work to get what they want!!

Letter from Poland" (List z Polski) by the Netherlands TV

Taking into account everything that's happened, president and large part of Polish elite dead, Russians uncooperating, not allowing Polish investigators into Russia and the head of the team conveniently dying in a car accident, knowing what Putin is capable of killing Russian journalists and blowing up a apartment block to have a reason for war, you have to at least suspect this documentary is true.

Life / What is the reason for POLISH jokes ? [486]

Well have Poles ever done anything in America that would be worth mentioning?

Have you ever even been to the US ??? Poles come here work hard open their own business ( restaurants, construction, manufacturing) some of them big businesses, send their kids to college. No one sits on welfare mooching off the state, that's considered embarrassing. Poland wasn't able to contribute even a job for them especially when most came in the 80s and 90s, who the hell would have wanted to leave their homeland if they weren't forced to by hardship?

Most Poles keep themselves to themselves.

That's true, i've heard Americans says they don't like us because we think we're better than everyone else, a Polish family walking to church sees some people standing on the corner they give them a look of disgust raise their heads and cross the street, as if they didn't see that. Or walk by and talk bs in Polish about others.

People who say other ethnicities aren't laughed at are wrong, be something else for a day and you'll see. I saw people laugh at Blacks, Mexicans, Asians/Oriental (often actually since they keep to themselves and are on the quiet side) Albanians, Poles, Russians, other whites (immigrants) are few here in the States. I was at a mall some time back and a black guy who worked there was laughing at an Asian guy cause he was looking at womens shoes, buying them for his wife. The black guy turned to me and says "look at that stupid Chink he's checkin' out women's shoes"

As for "Pennboy"

I can't speak for Pennboy, but if I said I would like to punch somebody for telling a joke I didn't like, I would say that as a joke.

I would even admit that if I heard an Anti-Polish Media Bigot got his arse kicked for bashing Polish people, it would be funny. LOL

Oh i meant it, if a person says it purposely to put me down with a weird smile on his face like he's happy about it, i would, i did it before, no better satisfaction than getting even to see pain in the other person's eyes after he tried to hurt you, i know it sounds evil, but that's life, forgiveness is taken as a weakness.

Life / What is the reason for POLISH jokes ? [486]

99% of non-Polish people who tell Polish people that they should "not be offended" at jokes against Polish people, would be the first to be offended at similar degrading jokes against their ethnic background.

Exactly i doubt they'd be so forgiving if their ethnicity was the target, plus its one thing to come back with a joke to get even, and another when it just comes out of no where. But i haven't heard anyone tell them in years, in the media sometimes but in real life people with a brain see it's not funny to laugh at an ethnic group. I work with an Irish guy he says sometimes 'there's my favorite dumb Pollack" i say "and here's my favorite drunk Mick" but it's funny because we're good friends, there's no hatred behind it.

Not really cause they might think you're laughing because you're scared to do something about it or are stupid and don't see that you're being laughed at. Either way allowing them to keep doing it. If its someone you know a friend or co worker say of there's my favorite dumb Pollack u'd laugh it off, but if its someone you don't know he's saying it to hurt your feelings or embarrass you, that calls for a nice punch.

What is the reason for POLISH jokes ?

The real reason is for people with low Self-esteem to build themselves up at other peoples expense not caring if it's true or not, just like what they hear.

News / John Godson, born in Nigeria, might become Poland Sejm's first black deputy! [313]

I was never in States but I read lots of comments made by American and Canadian citizens and I came across so called "polish jokes" many times. Whenever there is some news connected with Poland there are plenty of them.

Most Poles who came to America encountered at least a few times a dislike for Poles. I remember growing up it happened pretty often, someone walking by would yell something, or start a fight with someone just because they were Polish. As my family moved into a better neighborhood it almost never happened, so before it had to do with living among "white trash" people who know nothing about Poles only stereotypes, and grew up hating Poles because they've heard bad things from their parents or friends. Real Americans aren't like that though.

One of favourites American sterotype is about "dumb Polacks"...

That stereotype is less and less often seen as true. Poles were victims of it because when they came to the US they ended up living in closed communities and didn't socialize with others, there were other nationalities. Nowadays people see that Poles come here get an education a good job, or open up a business and make money.
