I call them as I see them.
For what she did to Europe, a Nuremberg-style trial and an execution would be justice. Was Hitler "politically misguided"? In his defense, Hitler was trully a mental case. She can't claim being mentally ill, which makes her worse now and for paving a path for Hitler 2.0 in the future. Hitler, to his credit, at least tried to do good things for Germany. Merkel can't even try to claim this high ground and say: I love Germany and those refugees are my expression of love for you, my beloved fatherland. He did, though, and I believe that the sob was sincere.

There is nothing beautiful about Polish. I dropped it for English like a rotten tomato. At best, Polish is like any other language. To me, it was hard to speak fluently. The fact that this forum uses English is just another confirmation what a genius I have been all those years by going full-Anglo. BTW, I am wondering why it is obligatory to like your country, your language, town and food. Or even you parents.
The definition of spurn - reject with disdain or contempt. Poland did everything possible to keep me from leaving after Poland invested in my degree. I outsmarted Poland and was a free man exactly 6 months after graduation. So, it was I who spurned Poland, not the other way around.
I have two daughters, four granddaughters, no debt, two Lexus cars and more money than I know how to spend. Thus, the word "failure" seems hardly a good fit. I do, however, failed to see the beauty in a country where going to a restroom is an adventure. You know, us older guys...

Spend some time in Sweden, the second highest rape rate country in the world, and you may come across some rape victims fairly easily.
Then ask them about the religion of the rapists. If they didn't have a chance to inquire about that while being raped, ask if the rapist spoke Swedish without accent.
They usually don't, and are fluent in Arabic, but I could be wrong.

You should have hard time because I never said I forgot the Polish language. I just (1) dislike it, (2) speaking English is easier for me, and (3) I eliminated it from my life as a totally useless skill. Polish-Americans who speak Polish at home are doing themselves a great disservice in terms of promotions at work. I didn't come to the US to add to a Polish ghetto - sorry, community. No, my daughters don't speak a word in Polish, either. After 50 years of English-only I feel about that language the way you feel today about going skating.
There is a difference between saying "liberals are morons" and "Paulina is a moron". I get personal only when some moron here gets personal.

I was going to let this thread drift away. I changed my mind - at least for a moment.
Extrapolating from a limited number of data points is always full of risks. But, after two months here, the pattern is clear. Posters outside of Poland may disagree, argue, debate but are never nasty to another poster unprovoked. Those in Poland are just nasty and in a childish way. Like little kids, they can't resist the temptation to end their sentences with personal and disparaging comments. They never explain what "old fool", "old fraud", or "rysiu pysiu" has to do with the subject matter . They do it to show how they feel, facts and logic be damned. Something I remember kids used to do when out of intelligent things to say.
Just as dogs lick their balls because they can, the nasty ones here are nasty because they can. So here is a simple test for you: would you say the same thing if standing in front of the target of your derision?

In spite of that strong SB coffee, people are waking up to realize that there is better coffee for less next door.
So far, I didn't notice any homeless when I went there to use the restroom - just as the SB CEO said I could.
Public libraries are another matter. They, the homeless, are there but they behave just fine. Once, I was looking for coins to drop into the parking meter. I couldn't find any. A homeless guys walks up and offers me a couple of quarters. That was a humbling experience and a reminder that always adding bum to homeless may sometimes be just plain wrong.

It is apparent that the reason you fled Poland was for your personal preservation. Spot on. It was like a prison escape or a divorce with extreme prejudice. That is why I had reoccuring nightmares that I am back and clueless how to leave again. That is why I would not go back for the next 50 years and I will never go there again.

While still on the subject of the thread title, I would like to comment about some of the posters who just hate my guts. Which, btw, I don't give a rat's a** about.
I don't know if this is a Polish trait or just arrested mental developement, calling another person names is infantile and sophomoric. Notice that I didn't include offensive. Over the years, I developed a total immunity to such transgressions, so any attempt to offend me is a waste of time and the forum space.
Since some posters here resort to this method of debating, for their benefit, I would like to suggest that calling somebody a derogatory name is not cool, but still passable as we got used to it while debating liberals. They do it always when they lack fact-based arguments. Hence, racist, xenophobe or islamophobe.
The lowest form of forum life is a person who uses a self-admitted and immutable personal characteristic like age as a weapon. For the reasons which are my own, I admitted that I graduated in 1966. Anyone can do the math and figure out that I am 76 now. I didn't have to disclose it but I did. To use this fact in constructing an insult is beneath contempt.
I remember when kids used to call me "four eyes" because I had glasses. Some of you here are still stuck in the menatlity of the 4th grade. Make your parents proud and grow up.

That door awareness is ingrained in us from childhood. So, I hold the door on the way in or out. Recently, I started ignoring Oriental women. Yes, I wrote Oriental.
Because in the history of mankind, a man never got as much as a nod from an Oriental woman as a silent thank you for holding the door. These b****** will not even look at you to at least acknowledge your presence.
