Work / Average monthly salary in Poland is around 1000 PLN (few hundred bucks). [387]

But the cost of living is much lower in general.

Not when it comes to rent and petrol and buying cars and clothes and anything electronic.
Although i do think that here in Ireland for the last 15 years we just have it too easy(but not for much longer) and comparing it with Poland is a bad comparison. Unless your a consumer junky you will live the life of luxury here, even if on the dole, unless you are one of the many who fell for that bu11shit and bought during the property bubble and are now up to your neck in the sh1t.

Things in Poland in my view are so bad that they can only get better.

Also, it's quite normal for single Poles to share a house or flat, just like they do in most European countries

couples share apartments in Poland, this is not normal. Its the f0cking Walton's over there for many.
so the average wage in Poland is now Gross 215 euro so that 175 euro a week.. Is this true??

Dunno, but I do know that you can get a kilo of potatoes for about €0.25 in the city.

Average rent for a small apartment is well over half of your monthly wage. I pay in Ireland about a sixth of my monthly wage for a large apartment. Potatoes are a minor detail when you are already broke after rent or mortgage.

Life / WOULD YOU MOVE BACK TO POLAND IF.... [73]

pyjamas outdoors

common here with people on the dole who are too lazy to get dressed. Even their day-time clothes are track-suits, another form of PJs.

UK, Ireland / Ive been in the UK for 6 days to relocate and im going back to Poland. [281]

So foreigners living in Poland are sick of their homeland because of the foreigners.
Am i getting this right?
What about multicultural cities all over the world, that we all love to go to because of their ancient complexity.London, New York etc
If you left England in the sixties(PF guys) and came back would you leave again because of the Pakistanis and Caribbean's?
Poland is all white, because its poor and not, because of some Polish internal strength.

News / New cross war in Warsaw [530]

milky:
Its metaphorical

Like i said its a metaphorical Tug of War between the modern and the conservative. These over the top cross worshippers are the Taliban.

But anyway my point is that if two enemies are having a game of tug of war,it doesn't matter if you are for or against the rope.

Sorry to repeat but it went of topic when i joined.

everything is on a continuum, these guys are just the lunatic fringe of something mainstream. When we fought this battle in Ireland very recently it was a bunch of loons called Youth Defense that ran around the place with crucifixes and futus in jar.

well the extreme element that are opposed to modernism are these fanatics. You miss my point. These Taliban represent a undiluted view of a large section of religious society.

Its metaphorical,it has nothing to do with a lump of wood.

News / New cross war in Warsaw [530]

The cross metaphorically represent a tug of war in Polish society between modernism and catholicism. Thats why a decision cant be made. The pro-cross guy on Polish news last night called the anti-cross people "Jews". This guy is a member in my view of the Polish Taliban, A frankenstein element of society created by the church and the brain-damage of the Soviet past. The reason for the silence in Polish politics is because there is no real political divide, only a moral one. The two main parties are right wing one free-market the other catholic.

When the Poles finish this fight against invisible enemies the IMF and Tusk will have sold the the entire country through privatization and all they(the Polish people) will have left is a cross and hoarse throats.

but this undying attitude of Polska Polska still has the power to shock me.

This book may explain the reasons behind this
"Free to hate" written by Paul Hockenos
I read it a decade ago and it still spring to mind when i hear Slavic nationalism and other forms of ethnocentrism.
Has anyone one here read this book, Seanus maybe?

Real Estate / PLN 2,500 the going rate for an apartment in Poland [210]

Its my absolute conviction, after studying property bubble in other countries, that the common closing down of web discussions on property, is and has been the objective of the Darwinian developers.

No discussion plays directly into their hands for obvious reason. The (developers) lads on this site, would be dancing with joy and victory if this was also to occur here. They would be delighted if only Silvio Berlusconi style media existed and dissent was blocked. They would much prefer if we talked about topics such as "have Polish people big noses"or "why do women use sex as a weapon".

A victory, no doubt, to the "Chicago Boy".
Discussions should not be closed down, moderators should do their job and defend logical debate against attack of a snark nature. Surely that is the democratic method. If the lads have their way and the property discussions is banned,(section 31 again eh) the people behind this site and their honesty will be under question. Are gold members more than gold members? Surely they should be disciplined and not the general debate.

That said this is a wonderful site, with fantastic knowledge about Poland and the vast majority of members are fine. Just a few bad apples.
