Life / What's up with the trains in Poland (the whole system in complete chaos?) [25]

London - Newcastle: 2.5 hours

Wroclaw - Warsaw: 5+ hours

distance in both cases: the same.

Wroclaw - Berlin: 6 hours: this will be halved when we eventually get the new line and trains.

Value for money on Polish trains is very good, but it's worth looking for deals when going international.

At least one can stretch out in the old style compartment trains sometimes.

there are delays. the same occurs, almost anywhere, with coaches and planes.

Life / Jarmark in Wroclaw - Christmas display get negative attention [5]

Anyone in wroclaw noticed this?

that is one of half a dozen displays with scenes from children's stories.

i saw it last year and didn't notice any concern.

however, i was more interested in the company i was keeping, rather than earwigging

Life / What is the reason for POLISH jokes ? [486]

after all, idiots were the ones who needed a better life.

you know that's misleading. some folks went for an easier better life. they weren't idiots.

Life / Polish-American Polka Music in Poland [60]

No, it's because it's shite and as has been explained no-one here wants to hear it.

there are too many alternatives for the listening public. if u pollute my radio i'll turn to my mp4.

Work / Education in Poland - system and structure [118]

To Polish vocalists considering singing professionally in english - do it right or don't do it at all.

i'm not sure about Coma's latest song. the first problem is that i don't know who wrote it, checked the language or checked the pronunciation.

the words are simple and after a few listens, it works. i'd only change the word fucking to mighty.

if u want to relate education and music: check the words to Hey's first album. the use of english is at best terrible. However, the album was made at a time when Polish music was entering a new age.

Coma: feel the music's over...

(does this guy even sound Polish.)

History / Former American President Adams in Poland. [54]

there are a few interesting things in the text:

"He even heard a church sermon in Polish, attesting to the fact that a substantial minority of Poles lived in Prussian Breslau at the time."

History / Former American President Adams in Poland. [54]

Who knew this: culture.polishsite.us/articles/art457fr.htm

Starting by horse-drawn coach from his residence in Berlin, Adams' first stop in what is now Polish territory was at Gruenberg, today the city of Zielona Gora. Noting its cloth mills and vineyards, Adams and his party, which included his wife and two servants, continued on their carriage ride deeper to Silesia. Their first stop in the province was at Bunzlau. There, Adams observed the main industry of the town. Even today it is famous, for the Polish name of this place is Boleslawiec, home of the world renowned Boleslawiec pottery.
