Love / Don't want others to join us at a table - is it normal for Polish girls to get angry? [161]

I was getting at the tack taken in the north may be somewhat looser than that amongst more traditional folk in the south. Northerners may be more direct and even confrontational. Generalising is not good and I want to avoid it but there might be sth in that.

Some girls are very scatty on nights out and can quickly shift from one thing to another. You are rarely truly the centre of attention.

UK, Ireland / Is moving to UK now a good idea? - antipolish prejudice of the Brits [231]

Right on, isthatu2. You have to take people as you find them and as we both know, such people attack black Brits too. Even white folk get beaten up for wearing the wrong colour or looking at others in the wrong way. I think some Poles expect a lovely red carpet to be rolled out for them but that just isn't going to happen.

Besides, the Sun's readers are hardly renowned for their fairness or intellect.

Geez, once again?? There are many threads on this. Some Brits are prejudiced, many aren't. We are used to foreigners, Poland isn't. We'd see just how Poles would react when faced with millions of outsiders. Please merge this with another relevant thread, Mods. Many thanks!

UK, Ireland / Polish eligibility to claim benefits in the UK [30]

I do see a fair bit of using, yes.

Many need prompting, that's true.

She is more than likely planning a way to get money to send back to Poland and get set up there. In my experience, when Poles travel, they always compare where they go to Poland and are critical of their chosen holiday destination. It's not about absorbing and sampling a new culture, it's about seeing it as a yardstick and to somehow see that Poland is so much better in all areas. I actually told sb to rap up as his comparisons were wearing thin.

Always set out with the thought in mind that she is using you and go from there.

UK, Ireland / Polish girlfriend is trying to claim working tax credit [12]

Block her at every turn. Leeches like that deserve to get stung. I really can't stomach drifters who free ride off of others. Master, ditch her!!

There is no such thing as a free meal. Tell her, 'do widzenia, kapustaczku'.

News / Famous Pickup Artist in Poland now [75]

If he is such a good pickup artist then the girls should drink til they are happy and let him pick up the tab :) :) That'd deflate his ego :)

Love / Don't want others to join us at a table - is it normal for Polish girls to get angry? [161]

Grubas, I see what you are saying. I'm not saying confused82 is this way but I find some English folk too pedantic and anal when it comes to observing etiquette. As ever in life, it's about my favourite word, 'balance'.

Confused, he should really have had more tact. I've had this problem before, getting rid of bad smells. The Poles fall a bit behind when it comes to observing the private space of others. I've had to push some away for that very reason.

Oh, try to stop a Polish woman from doing what she wants and you are in for a battle. So strong-minded sometimes. Still, I see your point and that guy should have put his hands up and apologised for interrupting. It's strange as I think they'd do it here. Quite a few Polish girls like to gibber away to who they want to and there is no point trying to stop them. They are a law unto themselves. I'm glad they mature :) :)

The point is, we have a different perception of etiquette in the UK.

UK, Ireland / Polish woman caught up in London riots [20]

I think you can safely close the thread now Mods as there is nothing more to be said.

Polish woman caught up in London riots? Yes she was. Shame! Now, no more discussion unless you are going to discuss it more generally.

UK, Ireland / Worst of the worst Poles emigrating to Britain? [32]

Oh, I see quite a few meatheads here, WB. Granted, they tend to be found more in specific parts but still....

Yeah, I saw a few rugger types back in Scotland. Scotland has many jobs for such folk. The Job Centre staff will be getting their bonuses as it's easy to put them into work. Not so with many Scots who get more on the dole.

Mods, Rock also talked about Turks helping in the front lines. What other angle can be taken? There are many Poles in Croydon, Ealing and other London areas so it was inevitable that they'd become ensconced in the troubles.

Some Poles are well-versed in sneak thievery. Rarely do I feel threatened when 2 come near me drunk but 4 or 5 is a different story. They value safety in numbers and discreet sleights of hand. The sly buggers are worth the watching but many Poles are just too indifferent to be criminals ;) ;)

UK, Ireland / Polish woman caught up in London riots [20]

Well, quite :) :)

At least that woman didn't have to jump like many in the WTC towers did. That was ghastly, The Falling Man documentary. Still, she would have been afraid but there was only one option, apparently.

Unless you use words like queen and princess in some places, you can forget about picking up anything beyond a cold.
