Apartments are still relatively expensive despite the fact that salaries have increased and prices have dropped.

Explain this sentence,im not sure what you mean. Property prices have tripled for sure and wages have remained much the same, in comparison to property prices (maybe 40%more)as a far i know.

speculate to accumulate

True, but the system should be organised so that when it all goes t1ts up, the tax payer does not get the bill for other peoples gambling. Unfortunately the gamblers have bribed the parliments and have turned it all into a casino.

Well done mr developer, however the rational view at the moment is that you'll get half that amount very soon, so sell quick, before you go bankrupt. Im not sure the Polish taxpayer(unlike the irish) will pay the bill for your gambling, don't forget about those new EU laws.....

News / Euro 2012: Budget cuts delay road construction in Poland [21]

ether the figures are correct or not the faster the motorways and expressways are built the better.

In Ireland we had a growing industry and sh1t roads, now we have wonderful motor-ways and a fleeing industry.

UK, Ireland / Do Poles in the UK pretend to be uppity because they have an inferiority complex? [60]

The grass is always greener on the other side.

yea, i'm surprised when Poles(i know) move back to Poland, even when its back to a tiny eastern, rundown town of no significance, with zero chance of employment. Basically, like a Irish man in the 70's permanently returning to Connemara because he was home/mountain sick.

destroying peoples hopes

The bursting of the property bubble will bring "hope" to the people, and anyway as a Thatcherite, you don't care about the people ,greed is good eh...

Migrant labourers are always the first to get scapegoated for the government's mistakes

Its not the mistakes of government, but of chaos.

yes.

too many are overpaid by a huge amount and others, well, they just need work.

Are you talking about socialism,is that not another question/topic as well. Maybe MRr No, needs to accept the free-market economy.

There is an idiot born everyday, might as well exploit them before anyone else does.
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.

UK, Ireland / Irish Times: Irish workers warm to Poland [24]

this -17 weather has caused havoc, i have slightly modified the lyrics, to help the song truly relate to Ireland at the moment.

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are bursting
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.

UK, Ireland / Irish Times: Irish workers warm to Poland [24]

There might be a small influx of Irish opportunistic, entrepreneur's and venture capitalists, taking advantage of the ultra cheap work force(2 euro minimum wage) but, as for people moving to Poland on a large scale looking for employment, is sensationalist journalism.

A single person can get in Ireland up to 14000 euro a year on the dole, while the the average industrial wage in Poland is 7500 Euro.

News / Why is Poland developing so slowly or in the wrong direction? Who is responsible ? [317]

Maybe, its a mix between the quality of life during communism(which helps them sustain and accept their continued grey existence) and the present backlash, that anything associated with the state/community is bad. Driving in Poland is a good metaphor for the general prevailing sense of "if you cant beat them join them mentality".
