People who come from Poland don't tend to see the difference but citizens do. The same when a foreigner comes to Poland, he can be spotted a mile away. Polish people stick out by the way they look, the way they dress, the way they walk, talk and behave.
When Poles come to America, their mentality is: "I came here to make money", "I am in America so I am better than everyone else", "I know how to do everything", "who can I cheat now and how to get more money". Yes, there are many nice Poles, but their mentality is greed and pride to show off that they have more and are better than everyone else.
When Americans come to Poland, they visit the country, find their roots, they are interested in the history of Poland, culture, food, etc. Poles on the other hand say negative things about America and it's culture, that our food is no good and that we are stupid and fat.

You were there when the martial law begun so you probably remember how the food was rationed, the long lines for toilet paper, empty stores and nothing to buy. Life has changed drastically in Poland, people can own private businesess where before it was very uncommon, stores are well stacked, food from other countires is available, many restaurants with good food, no 5 hour lines for meat and many positive changes. Except for one. People still don't smile and always look mad.
Please help me imagine the changes I will experience upon my return.

Poland is a civilized country so why assume barbaric acts like this? we don't sell live fish to be eaten in America, if so PETA would be all over you. These fish are taken home by the Poles and thrown in a bathtub and nobody cares how they die. It is cruel and stupid. Many people don't know the first thing about animal care and here they take one home only to be eaten a few days later. Don't they feel any remorse, any bonds with this animal while under their care? How do they kill it? Who kills it? With what?

The cause was opening up borders for Poles for free travel, their mentality that the grass is greener on the other side, their character, always complaining about everything, their negative attitute towards people of other nations. US had visas to Poland which were abolished in April of 1991. Poland was losing tourism because of it and many illegal Poles had trouble getting a visa back to Poland and were afraid they would get caught, causing more Poles to stay here illegaly.
Why don't the grandchildren visit their granny? Is it because they are here illegally and afraid they will get caught? Why do poles always blame America when they can't visit, coz the family that's here won't go to Poland?

Lublin is beautiful, Częstochowa, basically every little town in between is interesting to see, the architecture, the castles, ruins, churches, the scenery never makes it a boring ride. Zakopane is incredible, take a ride up the Gubałówka.
The only thing I find disturbing in Poland is that there is garbage everywhere. By the roads, in towns, there are papers laying around, cigarette butts and other garbage making Poland looking dirty. There are regular cleanups but many people still don't care.

Exactly, Poles come to America and install their own rules instead of following the rules of this country, then they wonder why Americans don't like them. They are known as lazy drunks, they don't want to just work anywhere like cleaning toilets because "they are from Poland, they should get a better job than Americans". Women work as nanny's, clean "domki" or work in bars and guys do construction, but they are so bad at it that everything has to be redone over. They put switch plates in upside down, don't know how to use a blower, connect wiring wrong, etc, they know nothing about US construction but lie to get a job, then they get fired because of their inability and blame America for it. The illegal Poles are lowering the standards of construction, lowering rates causing hard working knowledgable Americans to lower their rates or push them into foreclosure.
The problem with Poles lies in that they will not return when visas will be dropped and they don't understand that they will not be able to adjust their status, or marry a US citizen to become legal because no lawyer will legalize such a viza and there will be an influx of illegal Polish citizens lowering the standards.
