Polish fast food joints?

Anybody ever heard of or ate at one of the stands of New York Hot Dog or a Mr Hamburger restaurant in Poland? I understand both outfits are Polish-owned. What about Szybki Kęs?

Apparently haven't made it to Wroclaw. It's all gyros, toast, and crappy pizza.

There's one of those here. i would be surprised if it were Polish owned, well maybe surprised would be a bit too strong of a word, I might raise an eyebrow though, when noone was looking.

I thought "roosters" in Krakow and Zakopane was Polish? And ''sphinx'' I thought was an Egyptian themed Polish restaurant?

Avoid like the plague! Never could get to like that place, didn't really know what type of food to serve.


Always good for the footy and the food ain't that bad either :/

Roosters is a franchise, same company who owns the American hooters. Sphinx is owned by a Polish chain, they also own WOK and Chłopskie Jadło under the trading name of Sfinks Polska S.A.

Sean, time to raise an eyebrow, Jeffs is Polish owned - the guy lived in the states for a long time, I believe he is originally from Wroclaw.

There is one in galeria kazimierz in Krakow, it is really well decked out, every detail is so American, the walls are plastered with American memorabilia the works (Here is there website gallery)

I had a cocktail or five a while ago and they had a band playing on the roof of the kitchen. All the old American hits.

What's wrong with that?

I have only ever been to one TGIF in Oslo, it wasn't so bad.

Złoty Kurczak is quite ok. They do burritos which are pretty tasty :) The only thing is that you have to tell them to hold the cabbage. Cabbage in a cheeseburger isn't the best but it makes for an interesting burger.

There is another burger chain on the main street which, I presume, is Polish. I can't remember the name of it.

The best places in Poland, like in Japan, are the places that are tucked away a little. The local places are great.

Like going to an Irish pub in San Diego with four leaf clovers and leprechauns all over the place.

Jeffs is good for cocktails ++++. They opened a TGIF here about 18 months ago I have only been there once, but TGIF in convent garden has a history for me lol especially in happy hour.

Are "North Fish" Polish too? Fast food fish in breadcrumbs. I haven't tried it, as I consider myself too far away from the sea to eat fish. (except good fresh water mountains trout).

In all the years I have been in Poland, I have eaten in some wonderful places and some sh1tholes, the only place I ever got food poisoning from was " North ferkin Fish " in Arkadia - Warsaw. Beware be very aware...

It's American style food, ribs, burgers, like roosters.
Do you not get enough of that in America?

You have to go to Babcia Malina in Krakow, the food is really very good there.

No, I thought Ireland was like that until I moved over here. I am now left with shattered dreams.

But...what is missing here is decent barbecue. A taqueria would probably work well, out of a truck doing breakfast tacos and then beef or chicken at lunch.

It is like that but only in the local bars and restaurants, the tourist places are just plain because underneath every Irish man's charm and charisma, we really like to shatter American's idea of us :p


A very good friend of mine from down South (U.S.A), tells me I am not allowed to say the word 'Barbecue', as I have no idea what it is:).

My idea of a BBQ, is a few hot coals and lash on some road-kill or vege burgers and a few beers.
His is apparently a ceremony, filled with secret rituals and recipes.

they are on the opposite of the river to Galeria kazmierz, I am a big fan of Thai food and they do it very well - very impressed. The person that owns the place is an Irish guy I believe. If you like Thai - Sean try it out.

I must say that Thai food is one of my top two all time favourites. Indian and Chinese are great but Nepalese is a fantastic combination of the two.

Aye it is, he owns another place just round the corner on the same side near to the uni, unless he has changed its name to shanti.

First step is learning the difference between grilling (think kiss the cook apron wearing guy throwing hot dogs on a grill, possibly with an Irish accent), and ba-bachu (the guy with the smoker, the slab of brisket and ribs, and a whole lot of time on his hands). Second step is learn the rituals, which, depending on where you're from may or may not involve a sacrifice.

last time i went to the sushi place "Miyako" and i didn't like it (i love sushi!!)...

That's the one. Never been though as I moved away just before it opened.

Poland should open a corn on the cob shop. Some great all you can eat deals and a sore gut afterwards. Oh, and plenty of wind too :)
