Life / Who's Leaving Poland? [138]

Merged: Who's Leaving Poland? ( continued )

The original thread was started by ' FUZZYWICKETS ' back in June 2010. So here goes 2012 new year, I have now decided to start my exit plans from Poland, I no longer see the country in the same way I did years ago, Poland has been very good to me and I have very much enjoyed my time here, I will always have fond memories of our life in Poland. We will keep a place here just for visiting, it will probably take a period of two years for us to fully exit Poland as the children are still in schools and we are involved in various investments here. The main reasons for leaving Poland is there comes a time in life when you must lay down your long term plans for life, Poland was only about money and making it quickly, the country no longer offers the same opportunities as it did, therefore it is much more interesting, to be somewhere that offers more opportunity, either for the family or self development. The current financial crisis in Europe will present some very interesting opportunities in many countries in the EU, therefore it makes complete financial sense to exit Poland and look for value. If the EU does break up I would much prefer to be in the UK,Switzerland or Austria over Poland, even Spain would be better at least it is warm.

I would interested to know if there are many other people out there in PF land, now planning their exit from Poland and the reasons, why?

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

i do like living in Poland- i am not whining, but every once in a while

Poland will never be home to its foreign contingent, I am constantly reminded I am not Polish, there is so much complexity about the Poles and Poland even they continue to be perplexed by it, the communist/socialist past stills runs deep in the veins of most Poles over the age of 35, it is restraining Poland's future potential, a classic example of this is Poland's road reconstruction over the last four years.

The need to get away from Poland and recharge the batteries, is the main thing that has helped me survive here,Poland is a wonderful country and has some beautiful places to visit, putting aside the everyday problems created by its nationals, it has the possibility to be one of the jewels in the crown of Europe.

News / Will EURO 2012 be a proud moment for Poland and its people or set back Poland 20 years? [86]

horrible roads

Try the Ukraine, then you won't complain.

bad customer service

If there are tips involved Poles provide excellent service.

pay toilet

Better to pay for clean toilets, than enter a sh1tfest.

hooligans

All countries have hooligans.

a horrible national team that won't get out of the first round

50% of the teams will be excluded in the first elimination.

I say it sets Poland back 20 years.

I say you need to get out a lot more and see what is going on around you, it may not be as efficient and organized as Germany, then how many countries are?

Food / PIZZA & KETCHUP served only in Poland? [159]

If you are ever in the Jozefoslaw area of Warsaw, tucked away is an amazing place called Numero uno. The chef lived in Australia for a number of years working at a pizza place- the Australian owner gave him the secret to the crust when he moved back to Poland

Pip, the best places in Warsaw are always the ones that are tucked away, they try harder than the ones on main street. All of the three places I mentioned are out of the main stream especially il caminetto, it is on the upper floor of a 1960's shopping block in Saska Kempa, they have the most amazing thin crust pizza. They were the first Italian family owned restaurant in Warsaw, it became something of an establishment amongst the Italian community here, it is certainly worth a visit with the family, although if you go on Sundays be sure to book a table in advance,

Leave it to Poles to ruin what is normally good food.

Some of the best Pizza I have ever eaten is iPoland, it is only companies like 'American' Domino's who have ruined pizza.

Law / Poland's Zloty 43% undervalued [30]

are you telling me that things are so bad that they employ guards at car parks.

I can remember the guards being at car parks in 1992, They also employ guards at apartment blocks and the entrance to osiedles...

Law / Poland's Zloty 43% undervalued [30]

The current level is just ridiculous

I believe the PLN will not gain in value until late march 2012, just before Euro 2012, we will see it back at 3.8-4 PLN/Euro.
Poland's central bank will be a "permanent" presence on currency markets and the country's economic fundamentals should prevent the currency from weakening, the bank's deputy chief said on Wednesday. "Fundamentals point to the fact that the zloty should not weaken. The external environment is volatile and one cannot exclude volatility on the zloty but it will be lower because I think that the situation is calming down." "I think that the zloty will remain stable at the turn of 2011 and 2012." Polish authorities have been concerned with the zloty's weakness in recent months because one third of the country's debt is denominated in foreign currencies and a weak zloty could push the overall debt level beyond a key safety level of 55 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). Polish law, which has built-in debt safety mechanisms, would force the government to launch severe spending cuts if debt topped 55 percent, which could further undermine the weakening economy and make Warsaw's battle with the budget deficit and debt even more difficult. The government expects debt to stand at 53.8 percent at the end of this year but the zloty's roughly 10 percent slide since August has already forced authorities to intervene four times since the summer to prop up the currency.

Love / Finding a Polish girl for mariage (Sweden)? [23]

It's not the first and I guess not the last time when Wedle didnt understand the question.

I have a clear understanding of the question. I would also add, before one could even consider getting married, it would be important to establish a friendship. So going into any search with marriage at the forefront of his mind would be a lost leader for ericman. Marriage is not a business proposal, it is a meeting of the minds and heart.

Furthermore, ericman should maybe consider websites which set up primarily for Pol/Scandic rather than scouring Polish websites in which he will be a lamb to the slaughter.

Any further advice for the man Wulkie?

Maybe your previous post about Polish women: That's the common thing about Polish women, no respect towards themselves makes them more effective gold diggers, poverty has nothing to do with that or maybe I am a Polish man and I don't think that Polish women are beautiful at all, it's not us Polish men who say that, it's the foreigner's bullsh1t pickup line to get Polish women who are well know for being easy. Wulkan come on... your mother is Polish.

Work / Cost of Living, Average Salaries and Job sites in Poland [263]

If you want to go International the top two will set you back 55,000-70,000PLN per school year, so that is NOT an option for sofianec on the assumption her package is on or around 7,500 PLN net ( per month). There are two very good al girl schools, with English and french as second languages, which could be an option. Although I would have to know more about the needs for sofianec's kids before even mentioning schools.

Work / Cost of Living, Average Salaries and Job sites in Poland [263]

If your accomadation is fully covered, 7,500 PLN net ( disposable) will be enough for you to survive, it will not be a life of luxury, although it will be comfortable. The main question for you will be schools, if you are going Polish you will need the right catchment area. If you want to go private then this will eat into your basic. I hope you have private medical insurance inclusive of your package. If you have any questions you can send me a pm or other people on here, who are familiar with Warsaw are Harry, Jonnym and Pip.

Love / Finding a Polish girl for mariage (Sweden)? [23]

I am 26, I would say average looking, and have a relatively good job.

Firstly the most important thing in your life is your job, you may want to consider that before seeking your misinformed easy option, to locate a wife in Poland. Polish women of your age in the big cities especially, are emancipated from the chains of the past. You may want to consider the Ukraine as the country has serious economical problems and you may be considered a catch, being a viking from Sweden, who has a good job and moderately good looking.

You asked for advice on this forum so here goes, when you go fishing make sure you have the bait that attracts the fish, if you are not catching any fish it is time to change your ( YOU ) bait.

Law / I need to stay here in Poland to see my child. [18]

and you think this guy helplessly crying on this forum with the broken English is a good material to be a father?

That is for his wife and him to decide.

In witch country crying and uneducated losers sleep around?

I am not about to get sucked into your racist crusade.

Law / I need to stay here in Poland to see my child. [18]

How do you know that this was the reason?

Firstly I am a man, secondly no woman who is pregnant will want to get rid of the father of her future child, unless he is not father material in her eyes. Thirdly from reading the OP's post he is obviously self centered and I would bet money he has been caught sleeping around.

Law / Polish Visa, Work Permit, Residency for Spouse of Polish Citizen [69]

I am married to a Polish citizen in the UK. She has a translated Polish Marriage certificate which was used when she changed her ID surname and passport

Ok, from what I understand, you got married in the UK to your Polish wife, since then your wife has changed her maiden name to her now married name ( ID ,passport) in Poland. You are both now considering to reside in Poland. The first question you probably want answered is how long, before you are entitled to a Polish passport, 5 years of continuous residence the same as the UK.

How long have you been married for?

Law / I need to stay here in Poland to see my child. [18]

Im married with a polish women she is pregnant from me,we get a littel problem and she want divorce

So ask your wife for forgiveness and tell her. you will no longer chase other women and more importantly you will contribute to the upbringing of your child. Being humble is a lot less hassle than getting divorced.

Law / Public holidays: Good Friday / January 2 / Sundays - do companies work in Poland? [9]

in most countries I've lived in, an official public holiday then immediately follows on the Monday

Epiphany or Three kings day is a public holiday in countries such as Austria, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Poland, Ethiopia (but on different date that varies annually), parts of Germany, Greece, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, and Uruguay. It is not a public holiday in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States (except the US Virgin Islands where it is a public holiday).

Life / Are there many crypto-Jews in Poland? [67]

There's no evidence of a Jewish conspiracy to make Poland less efficient.

Okayokok, would that not be Catholic and Polish at the same time. We could use ethnicity as in Ashkenazim/ Sephardim or Slav, although that is another story. From my understanding having dual nationality as in Polish/American is not the same as being Jewish/Polish or Catholic/American.

Love / Problem with my Polish boyfriend [74]

i may have not been Special to him, but he is to me.

Drew123, We may have got it all wrong, if you want to know if there is a chance with the relationship, just book a return ticket to Poland, here are the links to two cheap airlines from the UK:

wizzair.com
ryanair.com/en

You would most likely do it for about 50-60 UK pounds return, tell him you will be arriving on the dates and ask how, he wants to do it, if he starts to make excuses and hole you up in a hotel, away from his family and friends, you know the real deal.

You can tell us which town/city he lives in and we can advise on the nearest airport.

Good luck

Love / Problem with my Polish boyfriend [74]

as he was in bed watching titanic and playing on the computer at his friends house

Did you get that sinking feeling?

The advice you have been given by Harry,Seanus and WB is the way to go, as an add on - He has just slotted back into his past, old friends male and female, family, Parties and being the man about town. Polish men are mummy's boys they like to get someone else to do the dirty work, Nov - Feb - seems like a brush off to me, out of sight out of mind.

Good luck with whatever decision you make.
