Love / My Polish girlfriend's mother called her a prostitute because we live together [113]

One partner is often richer than another. It doesn't make one of them a prostitute.

Prostitutite is a term almost always used for females, not males.
For males, the term is libertine or whatever.

In most of cases, maybe always, in relations, females are poorer than their male partners. When they are not married or when they are not life term darlings, such females are called prostitutes if they are not married.

Life / Why are Polish people so obsessed with race? [160]

Even here, every thread on this forum even if talking about food, politics, romance will some end with racists rants. Then they say " oh there is racism everywhere"....

Lets clarify this part first.. From what I see, 98% of people here on this forum are not Poles. So, if there is racism on this forum, it is by non-Poles, mostly Europeans. So, if Poles say racism is everywhere, they are not wrong, aren't they.

Law / Business ideas when I'll get back to Poland [8]

I was in Jordan in 2008. Business was too slow then there. Is it worse now?

HR consulting field is not attractive anymore as companies are kicking employees out and most of remaining companies are doing thier HR works themselves.

In Jordan, I had seen most of houses were made of marbles. Turkey being a marble country, I can help you about this trade if you are interested.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

A lot of people on here have the 'imperialist' attitude,in their attitude, the Poles to them are second class citizens, and they should be happy that they are not starving like children in Africa.

Are there so many princesses, princes, lords, duchess, etc in Buckingham? who they say the same for ordinary Brits that they should be happy if they are unable to eat the cake as they have the bread already. These royals make fun of ordinary Brits and you become milky and come here to make fun of Poles?

Life / Is Lady Gaga popular in Poland? [47]

What is this Lady Gaga?

Okay.. (shouldn't have asked people here anything - while there is Wiki thing.)

Ok, it is written there why her CD was used for data recording by that soldier arrested now. She supported the campaign about DADT, "don't ask - don't tell", about LGBT in USA army. It is written she says she is bi in her interviews. But, looking at her story, she is probably not a bi, but, just using LGBT community to make fame and business. If this is known by LGBT community, then, it is a mutual business. I don't think she is a feminist at all. Watched the clip given by Wroclaw above and first parts of the clip reminded me of arts of an American feminist painter hannahwilke.com whose parents were immigrants from Poland. Maybe, Lady Gaga was inspired by her works, who knows.

for those who don't know her.

Didn't understand much. So, she is something like Cleopatra of our 21th century? Or, another tecno-feminist?

Life / Mental health problem or one of the grieving stages? Death and denial in Poland. [93]

Okay, I read all posts from the beginning.
I am not a doctor. But, this is my opinion.
Let her keep denying a fact. She can keep thinking her father is somewhere else. There are many parentless children and they see everybody as their fathers or mothers. She can live like that. Your repeating her father's death over and over may be perceived by her you are dictating something to her. Seeing her academic background and religious views as well, she may not be used to dictations and she may be reactive even against some truths. If you can take risk, you can say you believe her that her father didn't die. After a while, either she will try to convince you he is dead or you both will live as if his father is alive and somewhere else, like parentless children who never know where their parents are, alive or not.

(I am not knowledgable about music things at all.)

What is this Lady Gaga? I heard her name first time a few months ago in his story of arrested American soldier who recorded data into Lady Gaga cd before data transferring to Wikileaks.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

Nonsense. First of all "western countries" is a very broad term, for example cost of living in Oslo and some small town in Ohio are otally different but let's compare Poland with main old EU countries like France, Germany or UK. $710 in Poland would be no more than $1000 over there.

I am already aware of that there are homeless people even in suburbs of Oslo.
Someones used the term Western countries as example to richness, I guess.

Generalizations are done by the states at top level, not by us ordinary folks. According to their generalizations, for ex, one of most important criteria that shows richness of a country is GDP figures, that's average annual income per person.. For example, most of Western countries have GDP over $30,000. But, the distribution of the wealth confirms this? Definitely not.. Even worse wealth distribution in Western countries with such high GDPs. You said it yourself, in countries like Germany, France where GDP is over $30,000, outside the city's some centers are not different than Poland, as you said in your last sentence. This means wealth distribution in high GDP countries is worse.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

What about cars,property,petrol,electronic goods,clothes??

We are talking about the basic needs.. most of these are not basic needs.

There are three levels, they classify so, of economic stiuation of people; richness, medium and poorness.
If poorness level in Poland is $500, this level can be $2500 in a Western country due to the living cost differences in these places.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

Now It's ~3500 a month gross, which is ~2500 net = $890. However the median wage is ~2000 net = ~$710

If this amount is enough for the daily life needs, basic needs, then, this can't be called a low wage.. $710 in Poland maybe equal to $3000 in Western countries as the costs there are much higher.

I was living in a village in my childhood till teenage.. I was having everythings from vegetables, fruits, etc for free - you won't believe this, I was eating even truffles for free as people were not knowing there its world market price of truffle then which must be now about $500-1000 per kg. Did I have money then? Very little, say, $1000 a year. But, I know now that I was having a life better than a person in Western country with a wage of $10,000 a month.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

1/ But how it can be if the avarage salsry in Poland is 1225 dolars?????
2/ Who is considered poor in Poland????

1225 usd is about 15,000 usd per year.. Is this average annual income per person in Poland? In Turkey, it is said to be about 11-12,000 usd which is actually good money considering daily life consumed goods are cheap here.

But, this data is a cheating data. Not a lie, but, not a truth either.
This annual income per person is calculated by dividing total income of the country by the population number. IF the distribution were equally, we could talk about average annual income per person. But, the reality is that; 5-10% of population take 50% of total budget/income and the remaining money 50% of total is distributed through a hierarchic cascade to people who are 90%. So, the real average annual income per person in Poland is not 15,000 usd, but, somethings like 5000 usd which means about 400-500 usd per month. If your salary is lower than this, you can be considered as poor.

History / What was it like in 1989+ in Poland when the Soviet house of cards fell? [237]

wiśnie and czereśnie

wisnie, similar to visne in turkish, is sour cherry.
czeresnie word looks like chirez, kirez/kiraz in turkish which means cherry with no sour taste.

Poland grows a lot of cherries of many different types.

are they normal cherries or mostly sour cherries.. sour cherries can be grown in relatively colder climates, but, normal cherries, especially the red big ones with much juicy need warmer climates.

So you never seen pears, blueberries, gooseberries, black and red currants, plums, raspberries, cherrys,WHAT'S CZEREŚNIE IN ENG? and apricots in Poland?

Some of these fruits can't be grown in cold climates like Poland. For example, cherry. Are you sure it is grown there or imported?

History / What was it like in 1989+ in Poland when the Soviet house of cards fell? [237]

So, Poles, especially older than 30+ years, were you happier before 1989 or are you happier now?

(I had many friends from other former Soviet countries during those days and they were happy for a year or two and then, they started to miss old days, they had started to say old days were better when they experienced capitalist system health care, etc etc. I have not met them anymore since 1995-96.)

Life / How do Polish people see homosexuality? [152]

So, you reducted the marriage issue to sexual relation. In the real life, marriage is not about sexual relation.

Not to contradict yourself,, what you need to do is not only to be against marriage of homosexuals, but also, to be against their sexual relations without marriage. Then, I can understand.. But, then, seeing homosexuality as in born, nothing to do about it, is something like you are putting your nose into things in born. You can put your nose of course if it is a problem in born and if you know what to do.

Life / How do Polish people see homosexuality? [152]

That can be true - but, then, it can be said same for marriage too.. Marriage too is a tool used for political purposes. Just check who approves marriage. Either religious centers or state centers. They are making profit from sexual relations. Lets say I won't have a sexual relation with gal or guy, but, I can marry her or him.. Is this allowed?

Life / How do Polish people see homosexuality? [152]

If homosexuality is in born, it is like heterosexuality then.
So, marriage is their right too just like heterosexuals.
(marriage is a sexual relation? no, not necessarily.)

English maybe your first language, but, logic is not.

Life / How do Polish people see homosexuality? [152]

Homosexual people dont choose to be gay.
Its either they are born like that or something happened when they were raised.

-

As far as gay marriage is concerned they can go to hell (and Im not even religious).

How absurd your these two words, contradicting each others.

In first paragraph, you are thoughtful and in second paragraph, you are not..

Homo-sexual relationship is okay, but, when it is marriage, it is not.. ?
Comedy.

UK, Ireland / Are Poles in UK really that big of a deal? [112]

Either we have an independent country or we don't. Wake up UK!!

But, UK is United Kingdom, with many non-independent countries in it.
In broader sense, with CommonWealth countries, it is an empire with many non-independent countries in it.. Sure, much bigger than EU. Perhaps, Britain's strategy is to include EU into its empire? Looks like so..

(The worse is U. Kingdom, a kingdom, a monarchy - primitive.)

History / Poland and Orientalism [115]

I think the negative connotation of the term and concept dates back to the various invasions of Europe by the Mongols and Turks, whose ideals were quite different from that of Western Christendom.

Those various invasions were long time ago, during pre-Christendom era.

Root of Orientalism goes back to Roman Empire times. When people started to change their religions orientations from Paganism to Christianism (50-200 AD), this change in orientations from Rome to Jerusalem (based religion) was called orientalism. Much later, it was used for Ottoman Empire region.

News / Poland-EU: Positive and negative features? [45]

Enforcing quite stupid laws, such as smoking ban, for example

Indeed, stupid law.. (there is similar law here too and it too is stupid.)

Is there any cigaratte factory in EU domain? I am sure there are.
If there is smoking law, you should close cigaratte factories too.
If you aren't doing this, you are doing bla bla, showing an appearence to people as if you are civil, etc - to be able to get the votes from people.

News / Don't let Poland become like my country, France. [630]

English managed to remain the language of the USA with the previous immigrants, because previous immigrants were Europeans mostly. When Europeans are away from Europe, it is normal to see themselves closer to each others. This is not valid for Europeans only, valid for any other community who lived in the same geography before. For ex., Turks from different villages of Turkey might not be so closer to each others when they were in Turkey, but, they probably feel closer to each others now when they are in Germany. This is something like geographical racism.

Above, someone said USA became a mixed multi-kulti. From your words, I see it is only about multi-kulti of Europeans. However, if somethings happen between countries in Europe today, it seems it may reflect in USA too (seeing people still remembering their ancestor origins.)

Philosophy behind USA was/is money/gold. But, it looks like more ideological now, more Europe related, like a mix of Europe. So, another fail.

Keep in mind USA has ~60 million people of German(ic) ancestory.

How many generation past since migration of them from Europe to USA?
Haven't mixing happened in USA enough since then?
I can imagine mix between Europe origins and non-Europe origins is rather slow in USA, but, between Europe origins?

History / Why did communism in Poland fail? [180]

I'll take this question. Socialism can be understood as a relation between two humans, not necessarily sexual relation. Think about a relation between a physically spastic and a mentally spastic. Money won't be useful in such a relation between two people. Communism is like a generalization like capitalism does (money rules everybody.) In that sense, capitalism too is a communism. But, if you connect communism to socialism, it can also be about a community problem in which money will not be useful. For ex, as I mentioned above, possibility of nuclear reactor accident is a communial social issue that capitalism may not like as there are people who will lose money by closing nuclear reactors. You can't say "I can do whatever I want when I have money or when I have weapon." Actually, money people are not serious problems, real money people know this, they know their limits, they don't use money on such nonhuman nuke technologies. Serious problems are gun-people. Now, with these nukes, maybe, they can see they trapped themselves too. Will they press on buttons of nukes or will they close nukes including nuke reactors? Throw a coin.

History / Why did communism in Poland fail? [180]

Communism or socialism has not failed, Russians have failed. However, they can say they didn't fail as they arised as a power (remember they are one of five permanent UN members) using socialism/soviet.

In socialism, nuclear weapons could be cancelled, but, Russians didn't do that. So, they were not socialists actually. With this simple visible criteria, Americans calling Europe (where many nukes exist) as socialists don't make sense. Remember many countries in Europe from Britain to Spain, Serbia, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, etc are still monarchies. Don't say they are symbolics. I can prove otherwise. So, World are still challenging about monarchy and republic regimes. Socialism in Soviets were too early. But, these days/years, socialism may dominate the world more. For example, Japan nuclear reactor accident may force whole world to close all nuclear reactors soon. If any nuclear reactor accident happens in Europe, millions of babies may die due to radiation as they will be effected first and most. Japans' was an accident, now, world know this truth, such a probability which is a very big risk as it is about the life, lifes of babies. Leaders around here or elsewhere in the world who keep nuclear reactors open and folks who keep themselves silence will be called baby murderers if any nuclear reactor accident happens. Scientists say risk is minimal. Hey, control technology is primitive comparing with nuke technology. Even if control technology is developed enough, you also need to be able to control humans as workers who will work at nuclear reactors are humans. You may not know a healthy mind human working at nuclear reactor can change one day and can do somethings in nuclear reactor which may result in big damages everywhere. So, thinking such things too are a kind of socialism as humans are thought before energy, money, power. Socialism is an obligatory destination. It is not only an ideology.
