Life / The rising costs of food and fuel in Poland and the effects on disposable income/economy [177]

"Something" needs to be done; a significant number of Polish people are on the bread-line; meanwhile back at the parliament, Tusk is sitting on his hands, while the opposition are still (cryblaming)crying over the plane crash and crosses( The daft in the west are passively wrong, while the daft in the east are passionately wrong). The Polish need to wake up to the 21st century and leave the dark ages behind.

Life / The rising costs of food and fuel in Poland and the effects on disposable income/economy [177]

I read recently that Poland has lost 2 million children in the last 10 years alone, due to people leaving the country,in search of work or a proper wage. Also Will Poles not be flocking into German soon as it opens up it job's market.

The population is falling and protections estimate that there will be four million Poles fewer than today in 2030.

I bet that by 2030 at least two million immigrants will have arrived to stay

yes, maybe, to fill in the gap for the Poles who left for Germany because they were sick of working for 2 euros an hour.

In 40 years, earnings in Poland will increase fourfold, say economists at HSBC bank.

how can you predict this far, in a free-market economy!!!!. This is up there with Crows rant, about Polish becoming the language of europe...

neurope.eu/articles/Poles-have-lowest-food-prices-in-Europe
This article is out of context ;so what if tea is 14% cheaper than GB,What about the elephant in the room fact that wages are four time lower in Poland.

I was away for over 5 years and overall, there hasn't been that much improvement in the infrastructure,

I hear the same point been made from all the people that i meet in the Lublin area. I personally think, that ther selling of the Family Silver(500 billion) in that shock therapy(mass privitisation) scam was a recipe for disaster.

The richest people in the Polish capital Warsaw therefore have less money at their disposal than the poorest rural district in Germany. Overall, the per capita purchasing power in all districts in Poland has increased, with the biggest rises enjoyed by people in the big cities like Warsaw (1,315 euros) and Danzig (1,238 euros).

UK, Ireland / Irish leaving Ireland again. Economy forcing them to immigrate [39]

Yea.maybe 25% of my friends, left around then, or a little before, for the same reason. Travel or just to escape the horrible climate.
A large proportion of Irish go foreign for a year, after their studies, especially to ozz ;now they're just not coming back.

In Ireland today on the RTE news:the ESRI expects emigration to pick up strongly, with some 50,000 forecast to emigrate this year. This compares to 44,000 who left the country in 1989, the peak year for emigration in the 1980s.

Everyone gets angry when prices increase.

but in Places like Poland,it can take a large chunk out of your wage. A 40 minute drive to work could take a third of your wages, compared to a tenth in Ireland;I suppose public transport is a solution but that depends on your location and Bus/train routes. Also In the bad weather buses are delayed, so the car may be the only way to get you to work, on time.

Same way just about everyone else does. They go to work, money gets dumped into an account, and they buy things with that money. Like houses, cars, groceries, LCD tvs, even gas.

Did i not say "afford"

This is not a problem for many drivers in Poland.

bollshit

Petrol prices are a global issue -

Im talking about the price of petrol in POLAND, where the the minimum wage is 2 euro an hour. How do THEY afford to travel tp work if they live in the country side.

Can a Polish person answer, for a change

Probably like most I don't even bother to look at the price per liter in the winter as the pump attendant does the job.

good for you....

News / Poland's atheist loonies have had their 5 minutes [239]

praying to an invisible being can only change someone's life in 2 ways:

Im an athiest, myself at heart, but i disagree with your bluntness, there is a power in ritual that creates calm and compassion:sort of like what the soap opera does for the consumer mind-set.

History / Watch Poland grow and shrink (interactive map) [52]

Most of those who
wanted to go abroad, already did since 2004 (and many of them came back already.)

Well children and students would hardly go, back in 2004. I reckon Germany will be flooded as the Polish government are happy to sit on their hand, while the population argue about moral issues.

In Poland's case immigration is the main reason.

and when Germany opens border, will it be flooded with Poles looking for an easier more democratic society.
