Off-Topic / Does anyone else find Cygans fascinating? [60]

their love was forbidden.

Yes , if you are a Gypsy its not acceptable to get involved with somebody outside of the Gypsy culture...

My girlfriend does not know her fathers side of the family at all , as he being a Gypsy who married a non Gypsy was cut out of their lives completely...

Ooooh Shewolf... i need to howl at the moon now...!

History / In Memory of victims, who had their lives cruelly taken at Treblinka Death Camp in Poland [104]

why indeed.. they did keep quite the records though and numbered every "prisoner".. why?

Well the Nazis considered that what they were doing was the right thing , and each camp had to keep good records to show they were doing their job well and keeping up with the good work for the good of the Reich...

They only began to destroy records when it was obvious they were going to lose the war and that these camps were going to be discovered by people who would not see it the same way the Nazis did....

I've only met one before,

So your dislike of Gypsies is based on meeting only one of them....???

That makes as much sense as me saying all Americans are assholes because of what i have read on your threads....

Wow..thats the second time tonight i have heard that name... My Russian girlfriend , who as i say is 50% Gypsy mentioned them tonight in skype , she really likes them , but she thought they were a British group...seems they are Spanish speaking french guys...

I have to confess i never heard of them before today , despite an interest in such music..but i will check them out pretty soon....

Love / What do I do? Children of my Polish lady are depending on me for money. [13]

It seems that you have two choices..put up with things the way they are...or get the hell out of it...

I can,t see the situation changing at all , unless you change it...

As i see it , there are three people who are depending on you for money , directly or indirectly , and they are sure as hell not going to do very much about it unless you give them a reason too.....

They need to get professional help to sort out the debts , and you need to make it very clear that you cannot go on supporting them all...

Tricky situation...best of luck with it...

Thats true , they were called Gypsies because people thought these strange people from the east came from Egypt....

but it was a myth , it seems their origin was in India , not Egypt..

Polonia / Accommodations in Kiev, finding a suitable place to stay [7]

I am afraid i can,t help much with flats in Kiev , i stayed in the hotel Ukraine when i was there...

Its a great city , great people . you will love it...

There are lots of websites advertising flats and apartments , but i can,t point you to any which i know to be ok...

It might be worth asking on hospitalityclub.org i am a member there and have hosted a couple of people...you will find somebody on this site that lives there that can help you out with finding a decent place...

I just had a look on the site , and there are loads of people in Kiev willing to provide accomadation and act as guides etc....

uh yeah how many news stories in Europe do you think there are about someone from a gypsy camp stealing a baby?

My girlfriend is as i have said 50% gypsy , but despite this they let her teach Russian language and culture at a Moscow music school...

Today she took a group of children on an old wood burning train , and then to an open air concert...the amazing thing is...she gave all the children back to their parents , and did not steal any of them...!!!

Yes..all gypsies are part devil..its well known....

I will ask my future wife about it...she is 50% gypsy...

There used to be this girl that came on Polish forums with silly stories that she made up in order to get people to agree with her strange ideas....

I don,t think she was a gypsy tho...not wise enough....

Love / Polish citizen in the UK: I made a mistake and now she won't forgive me, help! [57]

what if that was your daughter wildrover??

No daughter of mine would grow up unaware of the possible results of putting naked pics of herself on somebodies phone...

I am sure its very embarrasing for the girl . but its not the end of the world , she will get over it , and perhaps will be a little wiser in future....

Love / Polish citizen in the UK: I made a mistake and now she won't forgive me, help! [57]

The silly sow should not have put naked pics of herself on your phone....and your mate should not have broadcast them all over the school....

Seems to me , that you have not done anything wrong , and if she can,t accept that then there is not much you can do....

Your best bet is to post the pictures here on the forum , and we can advise you better...

Life / INVISIBLE MAN in shops and offices in Poland? [70]

When i was in the UK , i could be seen quite clearly it seems , people would wait patiently behind me while i stood in line in a shop , and nobody walked in front of me in order to get served first...the down side , was that once i got on my motorcycle , both me and my bike could not be seen by other road users untill i had got within inches of crashing into them....

In Poland , it seems to be the other way round , despite the terrible accident figures on Polish roads , i have hardly ever had anyone try to wipe me and my motorcycle off the face of the earth , but walk in a shop or post office , and i become invisible...!!!

I have just been up to the 24 hour garage to get a snack . parked my car , went inside and picked out some crisps and chocolate , put them on the counter , and got my dosh out , it all seemed to be going pretty well , untill some guy that had just got some petrol , came in to pay , and get a load of beer too... He did not need to push in front of me , as the guy behind the counter just served him as though he hadn,t seen me stood directly in front of him for a good 20 seconds before the other guy had even entered the shop....

Just to rub it in a bit . he then turned to deal with another guy that walked in after the beer buyer.... I think he might have begun to notice me when the crisps and chocolate went flying over his head and landed on the floor behind him , but it was too late then , i was on my way out of the door....

I have got used to people walking in front of me as i wait in a post office que , and have them stick their heads in front of mine if i don,t stand right up to the counter when i am being served , but this last event has really got on my tits....

Do the Poles do this to each other all the time , or is it that they can tell i am not Polish and therefore don,t count as a person...????

Travel / My (short) Poland experiences - bad luck? [142]

Does the above make any sense?

Yep...You seem to have learnt a lot about Poland in your few short visits and i have to agree with your observations..

I am an Englishman who has lived here for five years , and i have learnt to live with the bad things about Poland , and grown to love the great things about Poland , its not Ireland , its not England , its Poland...Here life is different , the people are different , and it takes time to get used to it....

I have just returned from a biker rally here , run by the club that i am a member of...during the party i danced with a Dutch girl who was a friend of a club member and her friend who was a brown skinned girl from Bangladesh , my friend Valery from Russia danced with her too..People from all nations , united by our love of motorcycles , and accepted as brothers and sisters no matter where they are from....I met many old friends , and made many new ones , its a very different picture from the one you were shown on your visits...

Polish people have good warm hearts , but sometimes it takes a little while to melt the ice on the outside , you need to spend a little more time in Poland , or maybe just become a biker....?

UK, Ireland / Too many Poles in UK? [52]

There are so many errors in this persons posts it is amazing! He is unable to spell in almost every post.

I reckon he is Asian..and he is upset because his cleaning job has been taken by a Pole....

He dislikes Polish girls because he has tried it on with several and not suprisingly has been told to get lost...

Off-Topic / Übertough Pole with bullet in his head [16]

Either God was watching him or he was a tough Pole, or both.

Or it was very muddy ground....

I heard of a soldier who survived a tank running him over...the ground was so soft it just pushed him into the mud rather than crushing him....
