Life / Family, Community --> Society "The Polish Way" [29]

moved from:

The counter-culture now is no longer liberal or progressive,

That is a most interstign and IMO fiarly accurate assessment. I have you pegged as a liberal/leftist/libertine progressive, but your sober appraisal suggests you are also a realist. That is quite unlike most of PF's progresesives who fail to see that shifting tides. Jon for example openly denies that the pendulum is swinging in a rightist direction.

That is only normal. Ruling elites do change every so often. The roundtable elite have ruled for most of the past quarter-century which is an exceptionally long time. The ferocity with which they badmouth and try to derail the current govt simply proves that thay cannot come to grips with reality.

I think however that you may be overstating the ulterior-motive mentality -- that everyone is only in it for jobs and perks. Realism need not mean cynicism. There are many idealistic conservatives who truly believe in God, family and country not because there's something in it for them.

Genealogy / Why the escape in the 1800s ? Searching for my family roots. [25]

Mazuch

MAZUCH: Could be derived from Polish words mazać (to smear, lubricate) or maź (ointment, libricant) but also an augementative form of Mazur (Masurian). Mazuk could be a variant spelling.

ZAŁOGA: a Polish word meaning team, task force, garrison or other collective.
SCHMIDT: is obviously German and a variant form of Schmied (smith, blacksmith)
Heeselicht; German name for Masurian locality of Leszcz or Leszcze (in Polish meaning bream, fish of the cyprinoid {carp} family).

correction: lubricant

Witkos

It could have been shortened from Witkowski. There are somer 40,000 Witkowskis in Poland but fewer than 2 dozen signing themselves Witkos.

News / Article on the West's propaganda war on Poland - Commies, 'apolitical' KODists, and G. Soros - Oh My [22]

Merged: Hackers leak sinister Soros' list of Polish MEP stooges

The Niezależna (Independent) website reports that hackers have leaked the confidential list of Polish stooges in the service of sinister billionaire George Soros. The Hunagrian Jew, a crafty financial speculator, made a name for himself when he broke the Bank of England. He is using his billions to promote various leftist-libertine causes including Poland's Stefan Batory Foundation, bankroll pro-abortion activists in Ireland and advocate widespread acceptance of Third World refugees and migrants to ensure eventual racial mixing. His Polish MEP stooges are:

- Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg (SLD)
- Andrzej Grzyb (PSL - can be counted on to speak out on desired topics and act as transmission belt to his party)
- Danuta Jazłowiecka (PO)
- Agnieszka Kozłowska-Rajewicz (PO, former govt official in charge of equal treatment)
- Bogusław Liberadzki (SLD deputy chairman)
- Countess Róża von Thun und Hohenstein (PO)

Also on the Soros bandwagon are Poland-bashers Martin Schulz and Guy Verhofstadt.
Soros first came to Poland in 1988 and got Jaruzelski's blessing for his Batory Foundation. He also established close ties with his ethnic compatriots Geremek, Michnik and Kuroń and promtoed the economic "reforms" of Sachs and Balcerowicz. In effect, Soros was the "godfather" of roundtable Magdalenka clique that has monopolised the Polish political scene for most of the past quarter-century. Recently he invested $13 million to prop up the faltering Gazeta Wyborcza.

News / How would Poland change for the better (or worse) under a PiS government? [257]

thinnest children in Europe,

GW reported that Polish children are becomign overweight faster than any other country in Europe. (Probably only the UK ranks higher.) 22% of primary and middle-school pupils are overweight. Interestingly, GW quotes experts as saying whoever becomes president of Poland should introduce the proper educational programmes. PO/PSL did start a healthy snack (fruit, juices and dairy products instead of sweets, crisps and carbonated drinks) programme in schools and PiS is now introducing TV programmes promoting healthy food and sport.

Don't you think there is a difference between commercial adverts (what to buy) and legitimate health concerns? Polish kids lead continental Europe in growing obesity. Staying glued to the computer, munching snacks and texting after coming home from school is hardly what should be promtoed.

civilized" white people

Just goes to show what happens to potentially noble ideas like the Crusades (to liberate the Holy Land from pagans) when greedy men put their dirty paws on it and twist everything to justify their greed. The Teutonic Knigths also claimed they were spreading Christianity when they performed genocide on the original Baltic Prussians and even stole their name.

German industry

TVP INFO has reported that, although the Chancellor's govt is encouraging industry to hire migrants, of the one million recent migrants in Germany only 58 have secured jobs in German industry so far. The explanation given was that most don't speak German and lack proper training.

Merged: Berliner Zeitung praises PiS govt's economic policies

Berliner Zeitung, which has parroted KOD-style criticism of the PiS government, nevertheless praises PiS' economic and and social policies which it says should be viewed without prejudice. "The Morawiecki Plan is a good plan which does not deceive the Poles," BZ wrote. "Poland no longer wants to be the West's cheap, extended produciton line and is banking instead on its own entrepreneurship and capital including such successful fields as coach and rail-vehicle production."

our country is 99% mono-racial

That isn't all bad. Especialyl when one considers the race riots taking place in America and open season on white cops. Multi-culti in some countries is a fact of life but it is not some mythical goal that should be striven for in countries where it does not exist. The more consensus, the more things people have in common -- race. nationality, language, religion -- the better chance for peaceful development.

But not to the secularist-progressives enamoured of gender on demand, feminism, hostile anti-clericalism, abortion "rights", test-tube babies, homo marriage and the like. From a strictly Realpolitik standpoint, one would have to know what percent of the PO membership and MPs support which faction.

The Zawadowskis held membership of the Rawicz or Rawa clan and stamped

Merged: Schetyna's PO turns right

In a bid to shore up the Platform's popularity their leader Grzegorz Schetyna has announced plans to shift his party to the right. No more leftist experimentation, he says, the PO should revert to its liberal-conservative roots and project a Christian Democratic image. That appears to be a move to wean away those PiS backers who find Kaczyński and Maciererwicz too extreme. Will the gamble pay off? Simultaneously, such a move appears likely to alienate the PO's leftist-secularist wing. The question is: will the party's right turn win more backers than it loses or vice-versa!

The proof that Russia is up to no good is their violent opposition to the anti-missile shield. How can unarmed interceptor missiles which simply destroy incoming ballistic missiles on impact pose a threat to anyone? They are nto an offensive weapon (no warheads) and could only pose a threat to incoming Russian ballistic missiles.

News / Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll [185]

56% support for Duda

The Polish nation has a far better feel for genuine political virtues and achievements than garden-variety know-all Anglo-Irish expats trying to tell Poles how to run their country.

Another thing Duda originated were free legal consultations which have been used by tens of thousands of Poles.

News / Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll [185]

Merged: Pro-Polish president Duda's year of achievements

President Duda has completed a very busy first year in office, and he łeads in the country's confidence rating of 46%
Law and Justice Senator Jan Maria Jackowski praised the president's work and pointed to the recent NATO summit hosted by Duda in Warsaw as his crowning achievement in terms of foreign policy.

Jackowski also listed Law and Justice's 500+ child benefit package endorsed by Duda, and the president's bill to increase the tax-free bracket.
Duda has also submitted a bill lowering the retirement age in Poland to 65 for men and 60 for women, reversing the former ruling Civic Platform party's changes which raised the age to 67 for both sexes.

During his presidency so far, Duda has undertaken close to 30 foreign visits. He has submitted several legislation proposals, while rejecting four bills forwarded by the previous parliament.

Duda has made it clear that his administraiton serves the nation as a whole not its snobbish elites and their foreign-interest-group masters. Former PZPR members, retired military brass, media monopolists serving the PO establishment regime as well as pro-PO entertainers are understandably opposed since they have been at long last cut off fromt he flow of goodies, the power, perks and privileges they had enjoyed under the scam-friendly PO/PSL regime.

Rather than trying to ridicule and deride the widely respected Holy Father, maybe you could give us your definition of the gender issue. Feminists insist that every piece of legislation should be viewed through the gender prism. Why is that?

Pope Francis

Pope Francis slammed gender as a form of "true ideological colonisation". "The area of its influence is not only Europe and America but also Africa and Latin America. One of its elements is gender," Pope Francis said. "Today school children are taught that everyone can select their own gender. And why are they taught that? Because textbooks are imposed by those people and institutions that give money. That is true ideological colonisation also supported by very influential countries and that is horrible."

divorce available at the drop of a hat

My impression is that couples seeking a divorce have to go through several steps including a reconciliaton period. The reason being the hope that maybe the couple will reconsider, think of the kids and give it another go.

in my homeland

This Polish Radio blurb may be of interest. Many WYD pilgrims decided to tour Poland after the end of the youth festial. Amongst them were Seamus, Karen and Ciaron, members of a large Irish group, who were "overwhelmed by the generosity of the Polish people" who opened their homes to them.

A visit to the former German concentration camp of Auschwitz was among their most profound memories.
"The mystery of suffering is something I will contemplate for the next few years," Ciaron Broadberry told Polish Radio during a stop-over in Warsaw.

Pope Francis

At his first post-WYD general audience, Pope Francis held Poland up as a model for emulation. He expressed gratitude for the great way WYD were organised and added:

"Poland, with its rich cultural and spiritual heritage today reminds us that Europe has no future apart from its founding values, centred on the Christian vision of man and including the message of mercy expressed so eloquently in the last century by Saints John Paul and Faustina Kowalska."

The Kodists must be fuming because they had hoped the Pope would lambast Poland for using fossil fuels, not receving 3rd world refugees and migrants and maybe even lecture the government on the KOD version of democracy.

You must be like Harry who really takes this forum dead seriously. I didn't know she was off the forum and don't really care. I ran across something about racism and felt the following question should be addressed. So tell us Smurfie Boy...

Why is it that synagogues and refugee centres are attacked mainly in the West? And yet biased pro-Western propagandists rarely say Western Europe is racist.

World youth day

World Youth Day with Pope Francis is a great spiritual adventure for hundreds of thousands of young Catholics from around the globe. The sight of so many clean-cut youths and the amount of Christian joy, optimism, enthusiasm and exuberance they exude is downright amazing. And it stands in marked contrast to libertine meet-ups such as Owsiak's Woodstock debacle focusing on instant gratification -- beer, grass and fornication -- not to mention vandalism to the train coaches that brought participants to the scene.

World youth day

During one of his daily Papal Window chats Pope Francis said the secret of a happy marriage boiled down to three expressions: please, thank you and sorry. "Misunderstandings will occur, and sometimes even dishes go flying. But the main thing is to make up before the day is out. There should be no cold war of silence," he emphasized.

An ocean of youthful humanity stretched as far as the eye could see in the village of Brzegi, some seven miles from Kraków, the venue of a prayer vigil held in on the eve of Pope Francis' departure. There the Holy Father warned against becoming a 20-some-year-old retiree, a couch potato whose life revolves round the Internet and computer games.

Several young people came forth to share their experiences. A Brazilian said he had cut himself off from his family during 16 years of drug addiction and came clean only thanks to his religious faith. A young Polish woman said had a good career and loads of fun with good-looking males, until one day she woke up and realized the emptiness of her life. Something pushed her to go to confession for the first time in years, giving her a new lease of life.

Merged: Poland's TVP to promote healthy lifestyles

In another development showing how the PiS government hopes to benefit the nation, Health Minister Konstanty Radziwiłł signed a letter of intent on cooperation with the head of TVP, Jacek Kurski. Radziwiłł said: "I hope we are coming to the end of an era where the health minister's messages [...] were rarely seen in public media and found it difficult to be heard over the vast noise."

"We wanted for public media, especially TVP, to be a place where Poles are informed about what kind of lifestyle they should follow in order to be healthier, and therefore happier."

TVP's autumn schedule will already include two new "pro-health" programmes. According to the broadcaster one will encourage healthy eating among children, the other will encourage young people to play football.
