Travel / My trip to Krakow and its ups and downs. [70]

Quite a few big Polish guys with shaved heads can be racist, yes. Such idiots are found in the UK too. Most people wouldn't have an issue with you being black but drink can change people.

Travel / Mosques in Krakow? [131]

You know, Islam isn't that different in many theological ways so I don't knock the content of the Koran, nor should I. The basic content is fine for the most part, Nou

DE, then fighting has no sense. VERY simple!

Travel / Mosques in Krakow? [131]

No, my point was what they perceive as Allah (which I assume to take a different form than how the Jews see G_d) is not the same as what Christians perceive as God. The old 'your God is not my God' idea. Get it? It's quite simple, really.

God, according to the Torah and New Testament, already existed long before Islam came along later. Simple.

I'm not Islamophobic at all. I have had different Muslim friends in the past from UAE, Jordan and India.

Conspiracy? That's just a label. A stupid one at that so I expect it from you.

Well, obviously. Allah is what they call God. My, you really can't interpret very well, can you? Try to understand what I was saying before idiotically jumping on my comment, buffoon.

Look, my point was clear. How does a new religion just pop up in 570AD, led by a paedophile prophet, and somehow seek to claim Allah as God? It just doesn't make sense. It had all been written before. I watched a leading Islamic film on how it emerged but I just wasn't convinced. Maybe you could shed some light, Nou!?

I read post 58 and, sorry, it didn't convince me at all.

Love / Polish girls, how are they when they are in love? [86]

Spot on, Arshad.

Yeah, asking questions can be like an affront to them in their own language. They react a bit differently in Polish.

Oh, the blame game. NEVER have I seen a Scottish girl do that to that extent. They are in a league of their own and always looking to get other people into trouble. Part of their way.

About the texting, oh so true! You have to have time for her but not vice-versa.

I find the best strategy is to be aloof. The only person I need in my life is me and that way I can eliminate any awkwardness or worry.

You know, in ways I have leanings towards Judaism. They reject the original sin notion, as do I. Their monotheistic approach is commendable. Their holy works came first, long before Jesus appeared on the scene. As for Islam, how on Earth can a religion pop along some 570 years after Christ and rewrite some of what went before? Maybe the divider of Jews and Christians didn't get the kick they were looking for and sought to stir the hornets' nest by throwing in another big religion. Sorry, it's quite laughable when seen in one way though I respect people who can somehow see sth in it.

Food / Cabbage and Noodles of Poland - Golabki? [30]

Hunter's Stew is really good. The ubiquitous cabbage shows up. Japan had amazingly good noodles with cabbage. Their ramen soups were sth to die for. God, I miss their noodles. The Poles could learn a thing or two from them.

Because, according to the bogus official line, it was radical Islamists that hit the towers. Now, they have nothing in common with normal Muslims but many Americans can't see that. They bracket them as one and the same.

My mistake, faulty English by being in a rush. He hardly dissuaded anyone from putting one there. He enjoyed the stirring it caused, I'm sure.

Food / Pancakes with cottage cheese? [40]

Crepes (naleśniki). I showed my students British pancakes and crumpets on Google Images and they say there is no name for them in Polish. Evidence for this is also that I can't find them in any shops here. They may be a type of pancake but they are not pancakes as we know them in the UK.

Travel / Mosques in Krakow? [131]

It would be nice if we could live in a world where religious freedom could actually be practised without any further to do. However, politicians will always find a way to spark things. Obama did it by proposing a mosque near Ground Zero (what a moron!), not to mention the steel ship made from the detonated WTCs.

Thankfully, the dynamic is different than in the Balkans where putting the SA mosque in the middle of Sarajevo was always going to create tension amongst Serbs and Croats. I don't think much wrong would come from a mosque in Kraków but you just never know.

As long as it came from other coffers, a mosque in Kraków is not such a bad thing. It's as I said above in post 5.

Life / Worlds most liveable cities (Krakow or Warsaw don't even hit the radar screens) [104]

Can't you see a bias towards OZ and Canada? Melbourne is supposedly a cracking city but quite a few residents leave. Maybe a few years ago when Poland was decidedly cheaper, Kraków would have been right up there but prices have soared and that makes it less attractive. It is a beautiful city for sure :)

UK, Ireland / Is moving to UK now a good idea? - antipolish prejudice of the Brits [231]

Not off the BNP website, no. I can't remember who ran it, tbh. I'm from Scotland, I know how sectarianism works. Not only on the pitches, far from it. I got materials from the Linen Hall library in Belfast and researched internment as my dissertation topic. Sectarianism was a part of it. Territory is marked out if that's what you mean.

When? 2 weeks ago through documentaries. Poor Vs Rich? Nah, they are Islamist groups that have taken over. Catholic/Proddie stuff comes out at the Old Firm match.

There can be unity when together like that but they haven't taken the same steps that some Islamist groups have.

You missed the point of what I was saying. Have you any idea of the size of no-go areas? They cover whole neighbourhoods in large cities, e.g go and research it in Birmingham. I'm sorry but a hostile gaze in a pub, one perhaps picked up through paranoia or make-believe, is not a no-go area. That's drunkards getting pushy but it's not a permanent thing.

At least the Poles don't develop no-go areas like other immigrants. I think if Brits were to meet some middle-aged Polish gents, they'd see class. Quite a few are noble and I'd find it hard to imagine how Brits could be against them.

History / Has Poland ever participated in any big wars (except WW2)? [73]

Yeah, the grandads sometimes join in on the act too :) Ooh, a big war indeed. I thought I was safe as a 105kgs solid guy but boy, those grannies are well versed in the art of war. All Sun Tzu readers :)

The Cabbage War is ongoing. It's a civil war where grannies queue up, elbows at the ready, to claim their cabbage soup, stuffed cabbage rolls and stuffed pockets with cabbage. You'd never believe there was a national surplus!
