Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

The argument is that while Poland is not as rich as the richest western countries that doesn't mean that it's poor

Is that the argument??
Who is poor in Poland?
The EU country that has the most people running from it since 2004

poverty that poverty does exist can be traced to dysfunctional behavior (chronic alcoholism, lack of family planning and/or education etc).

, is obviously very poor and far far far from being anywhere near the wealth of the richest..Thats why idiots on here are comparing Poland to Africa and the likes, and then saying things are great in Poland. As in every country in the world . This is a complete strawman angle, you are coming from.

higher than of those western European .

far from true

Then the whole Poland would become one massive traffic jam ;-)

The country would sink like the Titanic..

If the argument put here by a few people that things are as good in Poland(economically) as they are in the west(which is nonsense),well, why is there mass emigration in Poland and not in France etc, why is there 2 million Poles in the Uk,why were Poles fllocking into Ireland.

What would happen if all the Poles returned home???

And I also thought it had to do with the destruction of WWII and the need to build more apartments and houses.

It's to do with the government being liars and doing nothing..Donald Duck said he would build more as part of his pre-election manifesto. He then did what all free-market fanatics do,"nothing'.

In Poland you can work hard and still be poor, you can be well educated, work hard and still be poor, you can even work hard, be well educated, have a "good" job and still be poor. It definately wouldn't happen in a really developed country. We are in the middle between 3rd world and developed countries.

exactly

Do you know how much of a typical flat average monthly salary in Poland can buy ?

This is the main problem in Poland. It is the elephant in the room that people on here, always try to sweep under the carpet...

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

So you are saying Warsaw has the highest emigration to the west?
That's far from the truth.

????????????
Place like Lublin and PuĊ‚awe have seen little or no price reductions, due to the mass emigration in these areas.

This proves my origional point, that the places with the highest emigration will be the slowest to go down in price because the real-estate bubble is driven by poles working in the West.

Love / In Polish relationships who is the boss? [46]

I would imagine in 'normal' married relationships the woman is the boss, they are experts at arguing in order to compensate for their lack of muscle power, so a man knows, it's best to agree and live in peace. In the Musilim world the muscle wins; however it's 50/50 in my relationship.

Then people struggling with paying for necessities - I would say that they make about 30-40% of the population

I would say it's a lot higher than this!

I want you to get some work and stop whining ;-)

good point Ironside, its so annoying when pricks like that, throw that kind of sh1t at you. Reminds me of when our scumbag former leader had this to say to us, when we complained:

Poland depends on foreign investments because in the days of globalization no country can survive on its own anymore.

why are people so dumb on this forum Pgtx?

That's a good question. The economy is booming, the people have the same standard of life as the west, there is no property bubble.

The BS never ends here.....................

Life / What do you generally think about Poles? [62]

I think this may be a Gliwice thing but people here tend to be very boring.

Maybe so, Its unusual that even places with 200.000 have a poor social life. You should come up east if you want to see how sh1t it can get.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

you won't see many Poles settling in Germany even for short periods and the reason is Germany is so close everybody can be home every couple of weeks

They will eventually if things do not improve. Poles are living abroad in 'hope', that one day their country will be fine but the only reason it survives 'now', is because the country depend on them NOT returning.

How would Poland look like without millions of its citizens working in other countries, and without the subsidies from the EU? Would you have a huge unemployment, and as a consequence a lot of poor people?

Poland would be in absolute chaos if even 20% returned.

Don't forget this developer is a Thatcherite and Harry is his secretary.

I call it property bubble - so many people earned so much they had no idea what to do with the money but buying a property - I say the good percantage of that money must have been made in shady ways (or otherwise abroad)

I think that we all can agree that poor in Poland are people who can afford only basic necessities!

exactly

2. The low income of workers as compared to other countries.
Poland will never be on par to Germany unless wages are increased and this is not possible. One has to reflect and see that under capitalism there has to be a poor working class to support the rich.

That is why the Polish will start to move to Germany(big time) if the government don't start governing the country and dealing with the main issues like housing and wages.

Those who insist on calling Poland poor are going to have to come up with an entirely new vocabulary in English to describe this

idiot,,thats like saying someone with the flu, that they are not really ill, because you know people with Aids.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

From all the research I've done in Poland into the issue, as well as talking to many professionals - the one recurring theme is that children are mostly living in poverty due to parental neglect, not due to the income of the parents.

I was a professional in the area for over a decade in Ireland, and I would say the same about Irealnd, in relation to parental neglect rather than income, I would share the view of the American anthropologist, Oscar Lewis, who claimed that there is a culture of poverty among poor people. HOWEVER,

working couples (really) struggling to pay mortgages for sh1tty little apartment for 30 years and trying to make ends meet, when they don't even have children ;this is when a country is poor.

Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

Although with 9,051 euros the citizens of the Polish capital Warsaw are almost 64 per cent higher than the national average, their disposable income is around 3,500 euros lower than the benchmark figure for Europe. And there are considerable variations within the capital itself. Whereas people in the poorest part of the city only have 7,717 euros at their disposal, the figure for the most affluent district is 10,033 euros.

The richest people in the Polish capital Warsaw therefore have less money at their disposal than the poorest rural district in Germany. Overall, the per capita purchasing power in all districts in Poland has increased, with the biggest rises enjoyed by people in the big cities like Warsaw (1,315 euros) and Danzig (1,238 euros).

Milky, it sounds to me like you're a young fella that grew up with the Celtic tiger

I was well past my teens when the Celtic Tiger arrived. I remember, it was fine before CT,if you 'had' a (any)job,in Poland with inflation, even with a good job you are in the sh1t sometimes, especially if you want to have kids and live as a normal person.

people in Ireland were a lot poorer than people

simply not true

Out of curiosity: who is first class citizen in Poland then? And why they deserve the poor life?

Im talking about the attitude of westerners on this site, expecting Poles to live on sh1t and be happy.

So what, you weren't going to get credit anyway.

This is the imperialist attitude I was talking about. Poles, just second class citizens they should accept the poor life they deserve. This is the sh1t attitude I hear from westerners on here all the time.

I know enough people who get by on around 2,000 PLN net, and less, with kids to support as sole earner to call that one. And that's in the cities

Mortgage, car, bills, food, children, one earner,125 euro a week..I would love to meet these people, and ask HOW?

Mr D people attend church on mass, pray to the almighty and then cheat!! what is going on.

this is normal everywhere

A person unsuccessful due to own limitations will be unsuccessful in every country,

So the 20% unemployed in Spain would be unemployed if they lived in Sweden.

Also for unskilled workers I don`t see a bright future .

But if you are a skilled construction or production worker ( not just an assembly line worker) you can live a decent life here in Poland .

yea lol, that's what the political elite and corporate dogs had us believe in Ireland as well, and look at us now...You watch too many soap operas, get with reality.

Monia:
Poland is a land of many good opportunities but unfortunately for hard workers only .

What countries in the EU have less oppurtunities?

you live in a fantasy world. This is simply not true.

Married men sometimes work two jobs which is not uncommon .

yes,because things are so sh1t

So average household income is more than 1500 Euro which is relatively high comparing to average EU

lol

Don`t tell about poverty , hunger and stuff like that because it amuses me .

How did you get it so wrong. Maybe you won the lottery and live in London or something.

but they can affors two packs of cigarettes a day, huh?

not the people I know...

Rather not. People drink before going to pubs in homes, parks or even by the way to a pub ;)

same everywhere. In Ireald people on social welfare can drink 7 nights a week, "this way", and still go to Spain on their holidays and drive a car.
