Travel / Ryanair cut charges. Poles to take advantage? [20]

I would really like to know how this works in the case of having to board a shuttle bus to get to the plane.
Reserving your seating I can understand, I've seen seats roped off for this purpose.
But priority boarding?

I think that people with priority boarding get separate bus and enter plane 1st.

News / Emigration from Poland (2.1m Poles are living abroad, most within Europe) [37]

It depends what you mean by widespread. Here is an interesting report from EU "Foreign Languages in Europe": imgur.com/a/Vbg5c

According to it ~27% of graduates reaches B1 level of their 1st foreign language in listening and only ~4% reaches B1 in their 2nd language. German is for the great majority of students 2nd language. So is it a lot?

actually this report is called "first European Survey on Language Competences"

News / Emigration from Poland (2.1m Poles are living abroad, most within Europe) [37]

If its good enough, Polish skills and experience are accepted and employment at a same level is possible.

But English is best known foreign language in Poland. In all other emigration destinations, like Germany, Netherlands or Norway Poles mostly don't speak local language, so have similar jobs to People in UK without English. That's why average job of Polish emigrant is quite simple, not requiring any special qualification.

What surprised me in the comments section below the article was the frustration of the people that is shining through

Those who are ok don't write comments. That's why you see only negative.

Most students are horrified at the thought of actually gaining work experience in their holidays

It's not so simple out of few biggest cities, so It's not possible to gain any valuable experience for circa 50% of students, because local job markets don't need student interns.

The violence in Warsaw verifies the complaints in the comments section. Poland has a difficult time governing itself.

It's annual event. Says nothing about the government.

News / Emigration from Poland (2.1m Poles are living abroad, most within Europe) [37]

Some 90% of Polish emigrants have found work in their adoptive countries, he notes, albeit often below their level of qualification.
...
Employers value the skills and practices workers acquire abroad, but in many areas they are still faced with a stubborn problem: the salaries they offer cannot compete with those offered by employers in Germany and beyond.

They write that employers value Poles with experience below their qualification. Especially all Polish cleaning lades. IMHO it's *******. Poles mostly do some simple work abroad which is not in demand in Poland. From what I've heard experience abroad is rather problem, because such a worker will potentially demand more money than local.

Law / TRANSFERING MONEY IN CAD - BEST EXCHANGE RATES? WHICH BANK? [14]

When the amount is bigger, then I think the best is to open CAD account in Poland. Transfer CAD from Canada to Poland without any currency conversion and there exchange money in some Kantor, for example cinkciarz.pl

Deutsche Bank has CAD account: deutschebank.pl/klienci-indywidualni/konta/konto-walutowe.html

Law / Ways of getting Permanent residency in Poland [101]

More info about obtaining citizenship: mazowieckie.pl/en/for-foreigners/citizenship/29,Polish-citizenship.html

I've heard it while listening to radio program with Janusz Wajs: [polskieradio.pl/7/15/Artykul/947001,Polakiem-byc-Drogi-do-obywatelstwa]

( Here they also say that few years ago the law changed and Polish citizens who renounced citizenship can now apply to get it back )

Work / Living in Katowice (programmer, 3000 PLN) - is it enough? [65]

Monitoring level1 salary is in my company 7500 pln + bonuses.

We are talking about Katowice and average. If you work in Warsaw and probably bigger and international company then salary is bigger than average. You're talking about your experience. I am talking about statistics.

Life / Living in Poland since 2010 and I still don't have ID. Advice needed please. [50]

Perhaps there was some "transition period" after Poland joined EU in 2004 and non Polish couldn't buy house then (like they still cannot buy farm land), that's why they had to prove that she's Polish.

Author. If so much in trouble why not use help of some lawyer?

Law / Moving to Poland - How do I get the Polish Identity Card [17]

I know that Poles and Greeks watch Polish and Greek satellite TV in UK. It depends which satellite it is and weather they use country protection. There is some system to beam signal only to area of the country.

Life / Is 10500 monthly is enough for a family to live in Warsaw Poland [136]

i'll be relocating and have to pay higher income tax of around 32%

Only few small countries have lower tax in Europe. What is taxation in India? I mean what percentage of your gross salary is tax? (Although it's not so simple here in Europe to compare because employer pays taxes too, so gross salary is not whole cost of employer)

Life / Is 10500 monthly is enough for a family to live in Warsaw Poland [136]

What is weird is that I have been able to find Polish developers for less - about 10.000 but not in SAP. Is the premium for SAP people really so high ?

According to Hayes yes. IMHO ERP systems are boring for IT people and it's harder to get experience in it. It's hard to train SAP at home and only bigger companies use it, what is not true about for example PHP.

Life / Is 10500 monthly is enough for a family to live in Warsaw Poland [136]

Thanks for answer. 180K PLN ( 43K EUR) is definitely more in Warsaw than 50K EUR in other European capitals. But if you were to get more in the west ( let say 60K), then it depends which capital (Berlin is cheap but Germany has higher taxes, London expensive and lower taxes) and how big portion of your salary you want to put away as savings. What I mean is that when living in expensive country with higher salary it's easier to cut on spending and save nominally more.

I think that eating out during lunch time will cost you 12 - 30 PLN per lunch, depending where you eat. According to some website 50-75 m2 flat in Warsaw costs average 2676 PLN / month. Your salary after taxes and insurances will be 10518 PLN.

You can live decent with 5k per month :) People in Poland understand Polish :) If you mean English then according to this graph: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:English_foreign_and_second_language_EU.jpg

28% knows some English. In Warsaw it can be double. In general all people age 15 - 35 should speak some English.

This salary is not impossible, according to tiny.cc/hays-report CRM/ERP consultant in Mazowieckie earns min 10 000 - 30 000 and median is 14 000 (in 2011). It looks like the highest payed, not managerial position in IT, so it's not strange that they search for cheaper workers abroad.
