I have my own theory. They are out there building galaxies like hominid earthlings build subdivisions :)
Since the universe is so vast, they could be billions of light years away from here. Still, they exist, but without much impact on us. If they tried to contact us it would take so long for us to get the message there wouldn't be any point.
One day we could be a species not unlike theirs, (I like to call them "The Gods". That is what I have named their species) that is, if we figure some things out first.
That sounds like the UFO paradox: one the one hand the universe is so vast that anything could be and probably is out there, but on the other hand, the chance is negligible that whatever is out there is at a similar enough stage of evolution to be able to (or want to) communicate with us.

I'm not sure if I believe what Europeans and other cultures do. There's just not enough evidence to convince me godlike beings are inhabiting earth. It is possible they could exist within the universe since it is so large.

Religion is not the same as believing in God...I believe there could be godlike beings in the universe somewhere, however I don't believe in the God who's in the Bible.
I don't need a religion to tell me when I can go shopping. That's should be up to shop owners and the amount of money I have.
Abortion should be up to the individual and although I wouldn't have one, no one should be prevented to have one if they choose it.
Religious when wanting a white wedding or buying a lotto ticket, secular when peventing or ending a pregnancy or going shopping on Sunday.

It's because certain religious folk tend to be very narrow minded as well. They don't want to accept any possibility except what's in the Bible. The atheists are at the opposite end of that and resent their closed mindedness. The only logical response is to mirror it.
No..its being implied by some bible basher that anyone who does not share his views must be mentally impaired...

I agree there. Use logic, not myth. I don't deny there could be godlike entities waiting to be discovered...question becomes...do we want to discover them?
I can see it turning into an episode of Star Trek with a terrible conclusion..

They believe there isn't a godlike entity that can create sections of the universe, perhaps even controlling these places...if you ever watched that Stephen Hawking show on the Science Channel, you realize it is possible for a species to manipulate the laws of science to the point they become godlike creating something out of nothing. As noted on that show, humans have already advanced to the point of controlling their own evolution...
Would the Pope of three hundred years ago considered that possibility?
The atheists who negate all godlike entities possibly controlling civilizations are kind of like the Popes of days gone by who refused to consider science and technology, prefering divine providence instead ;)

ZIMMY, you judge these wise kings by today's standards. The gifts they had were worthy of royalty. Myrrh and Frankincense were rare commodities at the time. They were just as valuable as gold. This was before the commercialized age of mass production and assembly lines.
Considering bathing was novel and mouthwash non existent...myrrh and frankincense were needed to quell an odorous existence.
If the 3 'wise men' were really kings how come they gave Frankincense & Myrrh as gifts?

People have different ideas about what constitutes a ton of makeup. Some people only want to see mascara and a bit of light lipstick or lip gloss.
My definition of heavy makeup is the gothic look. Everything else to me is light to medium ;)
Tanning beds are bad for the skin, anyway.

The ones I see look alright without makeup, the majority of them, they just use it to enhance their features so they have an intense look about them and their skin tone is evened out.
The reason you don't recognize them without makeup is because you are accustomed to seeing them with it on. IMO most women look great with makeup, even the ones with "natural beauty". It's like seeing a guy in fine designer suit with his hair slicked back wearing cologne.
Sadly if they was as naturaly beautiful as they are they would not need to plaster it on.

I used to know one dude who dated many women at once. He told me he hated a girl in lipstick because he didn't want it to get on his clothing for all the different women he was dating to see.

There's nothing wrong with makeup! In fact, most women cannot get a good job these days without a made up face. You have to have a neat, well groomed appearance and for us gals that means foundation, powder, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, lipstick and maybe a bit of lip pencil.
Besides, men who dislike women in makeup are the ones with girlfriends or wives and they worry about getting another woman's lipstick on their clothing.

There will always be someone quick to call communism when a lot of what gets "given" are actually loans that need repaying. Unless a country defaults, the bank gets paid with interest. Sound like capitalism to me.
