Travel / World youth day - Częstochowa, Poland [34]

If I'd been at the world youth day and a person who is biologically female had wanted to use the toilet cubicle next to me, that would have been fine with me.

OK Harry, you surely must be concerned about the same thing that President Obama once was ...

somebody getting a refund on some porno mag he bought?

A man stole a porno mag ("Sexual Acrobatics") worth 14.99, so the lady of the kiosk demands now that he return it or pay for it, otherwise she will stick the pictures of him all around her shop (this will happen on Monday) so as the people living in the neighbourhood would know what the "hobby" of this chap is (the owner is in possession of the video monitoring tape).

hardcore porn mags displayed at childrens' eye level in kiosks

Hi Atch and Polly, I have just found a good illustration of your points (cultural and spiritual heritage of Poland):

ccc

Could any good soul translate the message of the Polish kiosk into English?

Law / Annual Leave allocation - labour law in Poland [8]

It should stay with you. Either you can have it transferred to your new employer with you (but that needs an agreement between the old employer and the new one, I think) or you may get an extra pay for that. However, the simplest way to deal with it is to formally cease your job contract after you have used up your all leave days by the old employer.

Life / Polish people and racism. [943]

Why are you replying to a comment made 10 months ago?

It is a very good thing that Polly has retrieved this comment of InPolska. It clearly shows what a prejudiced person InPolska was on this forum. And I also remember very well Atch and Roz bringing this to the attention of the whole forum.

InPolska used to be very "racist' towards the Polish people as the above quote of hers shows. Being 'racist' herself she very much preferred to blame Polish and other East Europeans for their 'racism'.

History / Poles also killed innocents [32]

One wonder why he still hasn't packed up and moved to Israel, Lithuania, Germany or some other nation which he so valiantly defends agaisnt the aggressive, vindictive Poles?

This questions has already crossed my mind, too. The problem is that Haroldo reports history in a very distorted, anti-Polish way (remember his famous term 'Nazi-Polish invasion of Czechoslovakia'?). I think there must be some personal issues behind that, no doubt about it.

News / Poland And the Pope: Not Happening, Apparently [58]

Better luck next time.

All your sources are not Polish, but foreign estimates (Canadian, Slovenian and so on). Neither of them is Polish. The 2,5m estimate I quoted is Polish and comes from your favorite Polish newspaper, Gazeta Wyborcza (gazeta.pl, 25 May 2016). Stick to Polish sources, Harry, and you will be well informed about events in Poland.

I think there existed a signed agreement between both sides in which the demarcation line was drawn up had been reached at some stage. You don't mention that agreement at all. Also, you don't mention any specific dates of events upon which one could judge your claims.

News / Poland And the Pope: Not Happening, Apparently [58]

locals have shown their true feelings for the Church and have voted with their feet

Nevertheless, you avoid answering my question how you got the info that PiS predicted 35 million people visiting Poland on the occasion of Pope's arrival in Kraków...

Edit

Ah, I've noticed my typo now.

If it's a typo, it is a typo with what?

Also, the PiS govt predicted 35 million people would come to Krakow,

Either PiS cannot count or you cannot read. Click the appropriate, but first decide if maths has issues with you or you have issues with PiS.

Wow! You are a little burak, mafketis. Rather than call me 'kapuś', please apologize for using the term 'Smolensk torture porn fetish' in relation to the 96 victims of the Smoleńsk crash, will you?

You disrespected all those people who died in that crash. You are a vile and disrespectful person and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Plus he should be banned on the PF for at least a week for using such a disrespectful term. Quelle honte, mafketis!

Love / Problem with my Polish boyfriend [74]

My polish boyfriend gets very jealous and moody if I talk to other polish men.

Tell him to **** off.

English is not a race but rather a nationality as much as French, German, Polish etc.

Really !? I thought the English are a special species of mankind born to rule over the seas ...

History / Poles also killed innocents [32]

However, shamelessly opportunistic. No an event I am proud of.

Certainly not an event to be proud of. But you should remember that this Polish "invasion" of Czechoslovakia in 1938 is an excellent opportunity for all those British and Irish clowns on PF to jump on Poland in the hope of diverting attention from Britain, France and Italy happily signing the treaty with Herr Hitler in Munich in 1938 which allowed Germany to peacefully grab half of Czechoslovakia without firing a bullet. So they brag about Poland joining the Nazi Germany in invading Czechoslovakia instead, whereas in reality there was no Nazi invasion whatsover. Only an agreement between friends: Britain and Hitler's Germany to "save" peace in Europe with no Czechs or Slovaks invited to Munich to bring their views on that "peace".

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

There's a Polish saying: The left bends down over hapless humanity..... to pack a bullet in the back of their head.

I have never heard this saying and I am a Pole living in Poland. Will you perhaps write it down in Polish for me?

You mean the 'bad change' party.

No, he means the "good change" PiS party. The bad change party is the Conservative Party of the UK which called the Brexit referendum and thus brought about the bad change to the UK and the EU.

he Common Travel Area between UK and Ireland will not be preserved in event of UK leaving EU.

Neither do I. If the EU decides to "teach the UK a lesson", Ireland will have no means to interrupt such a lesson. It is just too small for that. Didn't Atch say they were denying the mere existence of Ireland in Paris once, so Atch's sister went home to bring a map to show them that Ireland isn't an imaginary thing?

History / Poles also killed innocents [32]

The number of Ukrainian victims is estimated at 13,000 - 20,000. Isn't it genocide as well, I wonder?

What is the source of that number? According to the "Association of the Ukranians in Poland", 20,000 was the total number of Ukrainians living in Poland in 1947 before the "Wisła" operation was started. And the Ukrainian Association never calls the "Wisła" operation call "genocide". The number of victims of the operation is counted in hundreds. See the link zup.ukraina.com.pl/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=80&Itemid=23

(available in Ukrainian also).

There was obvious antagonism between Polish and Ukrainian populations fighting for the land.

That was no antagonisim about the land whatsoever. The Volyhnia massacre was simply ethnic cleansing. Polish villages in Volhynia whose entire populations were murdered by the Ukrainians have disappeared from the map ever since. No Ukrainian people moved there after the massacres and lands have been abandoned.

News / Good-change government raising minimum wage in Poland, cutting SB pensions [213]

It would be interesting to know how they tackled this same problem of the pensions of STASI (the former SB of the former DDR) members in Germany after the re-unification of that country. Did the federal government of Germany leave their undoubtedly fat pensions resulting from their DDR-era wages untouched or not? Likewise, what did the Czech government do with the pensions of their former SB agents? If anyone knows, it would be a good basis for comparing those actions to the actions of the PiS government in Poland.

Our Taoiseach (prime minister) is meeting Merkel and Hollande

What a funny name for a Prime Minister!

It's called the Common Travel Area and has existed since the 1920s, long before the EU.

Has Ireland not been in the Schengen zone in contrast to the UK so far?

History / Restoration of Poland's Monarchy? [40]

Perhaps some member of the old Polish noble families of approved manners could be found among the Sobieski of Czatoryski families

I am more in favour of the Wettin (of Saxony) house. After all, they gave Poland two monarchs (Augustus II and Augustus III) who reigned over the first two thirds of the 18th century. Then the Third of May Constitution of 1791 pointed to the Wettin house to start a hereditary monarchy in Poland upon the death of Stanislaus August Poniatowski. Next, Napoleon Bonaparte, while giving the constitution to the vassal state of Duchy of Warsaw in 1807, made a duke of the Wettin house Head of the Warsaw Duchy. Thus it is the Wettin house, in my view, who should again step upon the historical path of the Polish royalty shown in 1791 by the independently passed Constitution and then by Napoleon (whom a lot of Polish people supported) in 1807, had any such idea as the restoration of monarchy to Poland came to existence. However. I am not sure if anyone of that house is still alive.

Were the Crown Jewels ever remade in Poland?

No, they have never been re-made. It would be quite difficult as there probably exists no patter on which they could be re-modelled. As far as I know, after having robbed them from the Wawel Castle Treasury in Kraków in 1795, the Prussians took them to Breslau (Wrocław) which town they conquered on the Austrians some time earlier, that is in 1740. In Breslau they remained for some time until one of the Prussians kings (have forgotten which one) decided to melt them into gold and use this gold for minting Prussian coins. Quite disgusting, I must say, but the Prussians were a rather practical nation, it seems.

History / Poland in WWI [38]

so it seems to be a legit question why you don't see them in what was once Pomeriania, Silesia and East Prussia

You actually you do see them in Lower Silesia. I saw one of such in a village west of Bolesławiec (Bunzlau, this town itself to the south-west of Wrocław), the memorial having been renovated, but evidently an original one erected some time after the end of the WWI. That war memorial had the names of all the village inhabitants who died in that war on it and was situated just opposite of the village church. I even took some pictures of it! I did not travel extensively throughout Lower Silesia, but I remember seeing once a Polish website listing more German war memorials of Silesia.

News / Streets closed in Warsaw during NATO summit [146]

I just don't see the publicity elsewhere to such a huge event

If a bomb exploded somewhere in the vicinity of the National Stadium, the publicity would have been far greater, no doubt about that.

NATO's two-day gathering here this week

As far as NATO is concerned, the NATO summit in Warsaw has reminded me of a sketch I once heard on BBC Radio 4:

Psychoanalyst: - Mr Reagan, lie on the couch, will you? Today, we're going to do some word associations. Ready?
Mr Reagan: - Fire!!!!!
Psychoanalyst: - No, no, Mr Reagan, we haven't started yet!
Mr Reagan: - OK
Psychoanalyst: - Let's start then. North Atlantic Treaty Organization?
Mr Reagan: Sorry, sorry, I don't understand.
Psychoanalyst: - NATO, Mr Reagan, NATO!
Mr Reagan: - Ah, NATO ...

This is how the BBC were portraying Reagan and NATO some long time ago. Poland was a member of the opposite military pact at that time ...

History / 60th anniversary of the Poznan uprising! [60]

18% who voted for the current regime were promised that he would not be a government minister?

Any link to that quote or just more Harryesque b*llocks?!

Actually, Harry is right here. I remember hearing Beata Szydło making that promise in front of TV cameras. But that was before the election took place. She made it as an official PiS candidate for the post of PM in the hope of attracting voters who were inclined to vote PiS, but were very much afraid of Antoni Macierewicz, so they could vote someone else instead, such as Kukiz '15.

The point where Harry is wrong (or is lying or manipulating the facts again) is when he says "18% who voted for the current regime". Obviously, everyone on this forum knows Harry has been manipulating things to his own advantage for a long time on PF. The percentage of voters who voted for a particular party can only be referred to the number of all those who cast a valid vote in the election and not to all those eligible for voting. Thus the percentage is 37,58% (5 711 687 out of 15 200 671 valid votes cast). The 18% figure here is something meant for the "Western" people to believe in, probably those whom comrade Lenin so aptly called "useful idiots" in the past. We know nothing of how abstainers would have voted and I may well say that those who abstained would have surely voted PiS, but because they knew PiS would win, they did not bother to go the ballot box at all.

The trick Harry uses is very much a "Brit bully" thing which nicely explains why some people originating from the British Isles earned such a vile reputation here on the PF.

News / Anti-Corruption Bureau investigates Warsaw city hall [69]

being checked as well as reprivatisation activities involving real etsate worth hundreds of millions of złotys where a huge potential for abuse exists.

This thread is for discussing the way that the supposedly anticorruption agency, [...], is attacking the city hall in Warsaw.

Indeed, I may say that the reprivatisation activities of the city hall involving a piece of land in the close vicinity of the Palace of Culture has been gaining great attention of Gazeta Wyborcza recently and the attention hasn't been at all in favour of Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz (Crooked Hanna?), the Mayor of Warsaw. Besides, I have been already noticing it for some time that the GW have been showing rather critical views (to say the least!) of Crooked Hanna's different activities since at least the last electoral campaign for the post of Mayor of Warsaw. I am a little surprised by this really ...
