Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

Yes, exactly, the Market Square there had been renovated before our arrival, looked very pretty, indeed, what I couldn`t say about the rest of the town which seemed very neglected. But I hope they have made some progress with it till today.

What and where is it? A hint - certainly not what you are thinking of - that would be too easy. :):)

Nah. I spent 3 bloody summers in that awful place Pawian with my infant daughter.

I spent there about two years from all combined summers and weekends as an infant and a young boy. That was the best time of my life and whenever I visited Rabka with my kids, I showed them places where I had fallen into the river, played cowboys and Indians with a self made bow, learnt how to climb trees, picked and devoured cherries by kilos and then thrown up etc etc.

Doug, don`t take such experiences and then wonderful memories away from your kids. :)

It is 70 km south of Kraków and 40 kms away from Zakopane situated in the Beskids. It is the most famous Polish spa for children.

That`s nice you are so nice for members as to reveal so many facts. But if you carry on like that, your riddles might be too easy. :):)

Or not? Is that what is needed here to counterbalance my extremely difficult ones? :)

OK, I have an idea, I will only take a guess at your photos after nobody is able to guess correctly within one day. That will be the fairest solution.

News / LGBT hate speech to be banned in Poland [208]

No Rich, not your silly arguments again, we have had enough of them in other threads, you`d better start taking proper medication if you don`t remember. :):)

https://polishforums.com/life/poles-gay-marriages-84470/

Since YOU demonstrated that you can't keep this thread on-topic then it should be closed.

Yes, now we have a proof that some posters deliberately take threads off topic with their Jewish./Muslim obsessions to have them closed. I noticed it before and sadly I saw that admin happily falls for that, in result damaging decent members` will to contribute valuable input.

News / LGBT hate speech to be banned in Poland [208]

Most posts which you are writing in this thread are off topic because we should talk about LGBT rights in Poland and not Jews or Muslims, your two obsessions which you push everywhere possible. You should get a warning for off topic message.

Also I wonder what they mean by gender...

By gender they mean teaching boys what it is like to be a girl and in the other direction, too Famous cases from Sweden or elsewhere when boys in kindergarten were dressed in girl clothes and played dolls etc.

Yawn.

I know your style a little - this yawn means you are giving up because you have run out of logical arguments. Good. :)

And I won`t stage a protest because I don`t know where the nearest functioning synagogue or mosque is. But when I hear about any hate speech from them, I will certainly react properly, just like I have about the one in the church. :):)

Yes, Szczeliniec Wielki. Nice name - Great Gap. Or more exactly: Great Gappler. :)
Well, in this case, half a point to SB and Dolno.

A town hall - where? ( renovated with EU funds)

News / LGBT hate speech to be banned in Poland [208]

It is so wonderful you are stressing the importance of sticking to tradition originated millenia ago, but let me remind you that mankind has been undergoing a phenomenon called progress and today people prefer to use planes and cars for mass transport instead of horse carts like in the past. Tradition is great until it constrains us. Anti homosexual laws are constraining and all decent people know it.

As for anti-gay preaching, it isn`t so commonplace as you suggest. It doesn`t occur in my church, for example, so again you are wrong.

I don`t need to lobby anyone about LGBT rights, I am not one so let them do it, I have other things on my mind. I simply disagree with the hate speech cultivated by some clergy despite the fact they should love all their brethren/neighbours in accordance with the noble principles of the religion they profess, advocate, spread and popularise.

News / LGBT hate speech to be banned in Poland [208]

Not much can be told about synagogues or mosques in Poland because there aren`t too many of them here. What a pity. We need bigger religious diversity.

But if hate speech happens in synagogues or mosques while addressing the congregation, it is a moment which quickly passes and later people go out and back to their own business and forgets the whole thing.

Here, the display was erected and has been staying there for days so it is natural its effect is stronger and provokes people to react.

And not only LGBT activists are offended. Also LBGT common guys who visit church as believers. Where is it said that LGBT can`t attend ceremonies? After all, some priests are also LGBT. so what the heck?

That is why your stressing the fact that it was inside and not outside is useless.

No news about it yet, probably because synagogues and mosques don`t erect such displays inside. But when it happens, it will be reported as well, don`t worry.

News / LGBT hate speech to be banned in Poland [208]

A recent scandal with hate speech - in one church in Płock they listed various sins and dubious or openly immoral attitudes on the Easter Lord`s grave display, including LGB and gender. There was a brawl with LGBT activists over it.

Yes, Chemikiem , Ząbkowice and its Tower is really Leaning, no tricks with the camera.

Dolnośląsk, you say you are not an expert on Lower Silesia so why such a nick?

Still in the region, easy:

Won't be so fast this time ;)

No, of course, be so fast,

Lookout tower wielka sowa ..... next please this is fun.

Yes! The observation/view tower on Great Owl peak in Owl Mountains in Lower Silesia.

Ok, as you seem a specialist on the region, let`s stay there for a while to have more fun, indeed. But to make it more difficult, a slightly limited view: what and where is this brick building on the left?

Sorry, no, mine is not even half as tall as the one in Świnoujście. But it is unfair, I was going to show the lighthouse in Swinoujście soon, why are you so fast? :):):)

Hints: mine was also built by Germans. It isn`t a lighthouse.

Feedback / What makes an excellent forum? [119]

Paulina is splitting hairs and then goes on to accusing the PF of being the most evil of all the forums in the world. Pathetic!

No, a decent person won`t allow various scum lie about him/her in such a nasty way. She is fully right - if that vile remark wasn`t deleted immediately and its maker banned permanently, it was a serious breach of rules of decent participation in the forum. And it wasn`t reckless but premeditated. How can one say sth like it recklessly?

you have a bigger problem than you realize and you should stop teaching immediately.

You see, that`s what I was writing about: when chased and pinned into the corner, you lose temper and use irrational arguments which later usually turn into insults.

Only specific information can be used to prove that something specific did not happen.

The problem is that your "specific" information on Poland is so dubious and eventually far from truth that it can be easily refuted with unspecific general statements based on the historical context as we know it.

A proof that A is false is in citing B which (1) is known beyond reasonable doubt to be true and

No, your logic is distorted. You say sth and claim it was true, I call it untrue. Neither of us provides proofs. Who is right? The truth lies in the eye of the beholder, of course. It means you can say what you want and I have the ulitmate right to call it false. That`s how this forum works, isn`t it? :)

There have been many cases when your imagination has carried you away too far from reality, past or present. Many landed in archived random, here is what was left:

Did you ever try to debate to lose?

No, it is seldom sb`s deliberate intention. But I stay relaxed when I lose a debate with a sensible guy who is able to convince me with reasonable logical arguments instead of manipulation or blatant lies. While you often lose temper when sth goes against your plans and then you resort to abuse and insults.

By responding to my post, you are debating or arguing, not spreading true info about Poland and Pole

I am doing both of them, especially when you spread false or manipulated info about Poland. :)

And win, of course. In your case, it is an absolute ideal you never cease trying to attain. :):)

But this forum`s originating idea was to spread true info about Poland and Poles, not to debate things.

When I want information, I go to Wikipedia.

Wrong! You won`t find all info in WIKI. I take part in gardening forums to enquire about keeping plants and growing veg and fruit. I also attend car forums to ask how to deal with repairs and parts of models I drive. After buying the summer house, I also joined construction forum to learn about maintanance and renovation.

I would never find the things I need in WIkipedia.

I don't really have any hope that this forum will ever improve.

Don`t lose hope. :) The worst case would be admins sick and tired of running the forum and only waiting for its natural death. Why? Initial enthusiasm sometimes fades away and you have to face harsh reality - things do not go exactly as you imagined and wanted them to.

Not everyone was happy with Duda being elected president?

Yes, but the damage takes place before the actual voting. Afterwards, nobody cares because it is too late anyway.. :)

This one is easy on the surface- what and where?

But with a harder subquestion - what had been located on the spot before the sculpture was erected?

News / Schools in Poland to strike tomorrow [235]

Well instruction in English will certainly have a catstrophic effect. Poland could be like India or Nigeria or the Phillipines..... yay?

Poland can`t be like those countries for a number of reasons. Besides, who said that all instruction will be in English? :)

Well not many might...

Don`t worry about foreign guys coming to teach in Poland. - it is obvious that confronted with a catastrophic shortage of teachers, the future government will have to raise salaries.

Life / 3 year old special needs child, moving to Krakow what options are there? [6]

Your salary of 7.5K pln gross per month is absolutely nothing to write home about. This is extremely low.

Yes, very low but still not so tragic.

As for your spouse finding a job, forget about it. Just ain't gonna happen.

Do you mean there will be no job opportunities for her or that she will not be able to combine working and taking care of their special needs child.?

what's the cost of special needs program there?

If you work and are insured, the programmes are free.

News / Schools in Poland to strike tomorrow [235]

Strikers should be terminated after one warning. If you allow public school teachers to strike, why not every other public employee?

Yes, you already said it in this thread. Good you are reminding us about it. And the answer again is:

And in a few years when there aren't enough teachers.... they'll just try to fast track Ukrainians into the system

I hope not only Ukrainians. The education branch will adopt all kinds of immigrants from everywhere: Indians and other Asians, Africans. They might start from teaching English, why not, and then move to other subjects. They don`t even need to speak Polish - there are bilingual classes in some Polish schools where e.g., Biology is taught in English.

I just can`t wait to see it happening. My dream of true diversity will be fulfilled at last.

No, it isn`t a hybrid, it is a pure diamond pheasant but there is sth wrong with it anyway. But don`t look for minute details! The riddle is perfectly visible.

Yes, the plane was used as a bomber to drop incendiary bombs on Warsaw, the indomitable city, in 1939.

diamond pheasant

It is and at the same time it isn`t. How is it possible?
It was displayed at the Pet Fair, not the zoo. It might be a little clue. Another clue - focus on my quote above - diamond pheasant.

Is a Junkers Ju-52/3m g10e in the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków.

Yes! Now, what part in the Polish history did it play? The part which also belongs to the history of the construction.
