UK, Ireland / Britain... What the Poles did for us. [444]

Becaouse unlike them Britain

They didnt actually fight! STFU!

(all 3 very postive towards Germany) accepted Polish troops to get through their countries.

Oh right.. All Poles were accepted with open arms..

Mr. Hitler that if one single German soldier passed the Hungarian border it would mean war between Hungary and Germany.

Hungary bent over like a b*tch with her cheeks wide open screaming take me take me! What novels have you been reading?

you right I forgot about French cowards with English cowards and Scottish royal slaves cowards

Better than Polish murderers who helped the Germans gladly..The English have pride.something you lot know little about! Its no small wonder the Germans still have little or no respect for you! You gladly slaughtered your own people...Jews were Polish too.

Regarding our allies:

please do look at the names that were lost:

Mainly English! So we contributed more than you ungrateful tossers will ever know!

Marek, it's too late for an edit. Hang your head in shame! English cowards??? What nonsense! I'm Scottish and I still acknowledge their valiant efforts.

Because the 1 Queens were there!!!!!!!!!!!! These bastards have the gaul to speak in such a way, shall I list the regiments and the names of men that lost their f*cking lives for these peasants!

UK, Ireland / Man on UK - Krakow flight eats 10, 000 Euros [18]

Well, I know for sure a Brit wouldnt have eaten it :D Valuable beer money! The flight was going to Poland so I deduced from that he was Polish.

Youre not going to try and pass it off as another of your jokes are yah.

Where the Royal Navy are concerned....I dont think so.

Thanks for pointing out the absolute obvious there ShellyS. Their intentions may have been to not kill but unfortunately they did. It was part of the deal you couldnt have one without the other.

WB, you didnt get my point, first off I shall point out that ALL of my mums side are either present or ex Royal Navy serving - the cost of a few lives (in comparative terms) was nothing compared to the loss of oil or food (for King and country and all that)...keeping the cogs turning was the main thing, lives were, shall we say indespensable...(there's an Eafter the last L by the way in my name).

My main point was to the c* nt who had the cheek to say that our Royal Navy ran..never in our history have we fled the battle field..that is what makes me proud to have a Royal Naval history that goes back 250 years...but some landlocked w*anker wouldnt know about that!

There was nothing noble about it. It was done for selfish reasons to maintain Britain’s status

Selfish? When did we finally finish paying off our debt to American for what the war cost us? Did your grand parents live of rations? Whilst I understand what you are saying, the war crippled Britain - An aliance with Germany would have been more benficial but it would have been morally wrong.

Why is a tiny Island who did something always blamed for problems in the 21 century, yet Italy and other collabroators get off scot free!

Id just like to point out that the Germans sank a rather large quanity of our ships / boats - merchant navy, royal navy and various other boats/tankers during WWII - their intentions were not to kill, but to cripple the Island and stop supplies going to other Islands...See Malta:

Life / Do you think a smoking ban would be a good thing in Polish restaurants and Bars? [217]

the staff has no option but to inhale the smoke either.

But they do have an option, work in a bar or not? Simple yeah?

As for Poland, they will sooner or later ban smoking in bars - Im a smoker and I dont actually mind, Im happy to go outside and sit near the heaters most bars have installed - I prefer not to stink of stale fag butts when I wake up the next day (yes... even smokers are aware of the horrid smell)..I also like the fact I smoke less, win win situation for me to be honest...

Work / Why Poland employers are afraid of hiring any foreign nationals? [171]

To Daz:

Conrad didnt even have a Polish accent :D

As a result, he developed a southern French accent which would later strongly color his English

home.earthlink.net/~apousada/id4.html

I understand his accent reflected his travels.

If you're a Brit then I'm sure you have been traught about the marvelous literature in the English language authored by a Pole.

You mean the Pole/Ukranain (lets get it right) that spent only a short period of his life in Poland? Lets face it he was more British than Polish :D

Now, watch this clip and try to tell my that the sweeping generalization of "native speakers of English speak better English" is true.

Accents can vary depending on what side of a town you live, what kind of parents you have, what school you attended and a whole host of other things...You are surmising that every person living in one particular area will speak exactly the same...You really do know next to nothing about England and how we speak.

Work / Why Poland employers are afraid of hiring any foreign nationals? [171]

It would be like a non Spanish person saying they can teach Spanish better than a Spanish person...Hence the reason I laughed, it was also an arrogant statement to say a non native is better than a native...Only a Pole would make such a statement.

You lot have spent a few years in the EU now you think you can teach us how to suck eggs? When Poland can stand on its own feet, you can have your say, until then...speak when spoken to!

Polish, I know of one school where the Irish teacher was given his marching orders and students threw rotten eggs at him when he left in a haste.

How nice of them..had they been saving their rotten eggs for such an occasion?

I agree that Polish nationals are better teachers in the English language than those from the UK/ Ireland etc

I can only laugh at this statement.

teachers who have come from Ireland/UK are arrogant and think they know everything,

Pots and kettles... :D

Life / How Safe Are the Polish Cities? [179]

One day before leaving the UK, a snow ball was thrown at me from a passing car. I thought, what the hell, I'm pulling out of this hell hole.

I know this is a year out of date and Yoshi doesnt come here any more, but the places he mentioned are shi**y ghettos full of foreigners and students and scrotes...What do you expect? I live in a nice leafy burb and dont have any of these problems...as for Piccadilly, its not full of prostitutes they're all behind strangeways...all the rent boys hang round the side of Piccadilly near the car rental place...just to correct you on that.

As for Poland, I found it to be a safe place, didnt feel worried about walking after dark...but as already stated there must be some right hovels that not even a Pole would go near after dark!

USA, Canada / Do many Polish people in America hate Americans? [592]

That is true, but the vast majority of Australians were later, or like myself (2001) very recent arrivals.

I have family in the State of Victoria - 4th generation...Also there were plenty of people that went over in the early days...a middle class person could buy a lot of land and have "free" labour...they were like royalty over there..Then much later in the 1950s, the UK practically gave free passage to those that wanted to go...a quick check of the family tree was all that was needed (no blacks or asians and you were fine!)...

And yes, most people know that the British also used Australia as a convenient place for permanent storage of unwanted children.

Not quite true, there were plenty that were wanted (those found after the blitz) who were shipped over for convenience and those that were in temporary care in the early days...You really do need to learn a bit before you speak on such matters...

Your modern day bible bashers would make the calvinists look like wh*res and devils in comparison :D You might want to look at the surnames of the founders of the religion...they were not English ;0)

Along with Martin Bucer, Heinrich Bullinger, Peter Martyr Vermigli, and Ulrich Zwingli

Calvin was a French exile in Geneva (not English!)

That is true, but the vast majority of Australians were later, or like me (2001) very recent arrivals.

Why get irritated with the comments, you're not even Austrailian...

USA, Canada / Do many Polish people in America hate Americans? [592]

This is true, but I think the point being made is, its far more likely that someone whose family originated in the UK and have been in Aus for several generations are more likely to have a convict ancestor than American would - nothing wrong with that :D They sent petty thieves to Aus...stealing a loaf of bread was enough in those days to end up on a ship bound to goodness knows where....

at least our ancestors didnt drop us off on a island because we were misfits of
society!

PMSL :D Good one Patty ;0)

religious wackos went to America, criminals were shipped off to Australia..

Not quite, there were plenty of normal people that went there and there were plenty of people (read children) who ended up there without a choice...

The Quakers were not relgious wackos...I think you mean your bible bashing nut jobs you have these days...nothing to do with my ancestors...you created them all by yourselves!

I have heard tons of girls complain uncut guys don't know how to wash themselves right.

Uncut, fine, untrimed...NO CHANCE!...

It's a hygiene thing more than anything.

To a certain degree, but a bloke that showers every day and washes properly is going to be clean even if he's not had it sniped.

Women with hairy legs and armpits is natural too but most of us wouldn't prefer it ;)

Thats different, you know it... :D

I'm British and also i'm intelligent.

Thats a matter of conjecture!

Statistically Brits are one of the most liked by Poles nation...

Aparently not, there are polls that say othewise.

Life / Why do you choose to stay in Poland, why not other country? [152]

Even if she did, it doesn't mean that she knows everything about everyone and everything. I'm Polish and I wouldn't dare to make such assumptions since I might have met a few people behaving in a certain way, but it doesn't mean that whole nation behaves like this.

People make assumptions about the English and England all the time after living here for a few months...Or even not having lived here at all....It's all based on experience or what they have heard - personally I couldnt care less...

or they go to this decent one and order just a beer that last for 2 hours.

Isnt that just being cheap?

EVERYWHERE IS BETTER than in UK so such comparisons are unnecessary. ok ok, i know i am repeating myself.

One less scummy foreigner to worry about coming here, I should be glad you dislike it so much - we have enough Bulgarian onion pickers here anyway! (or is you hate based on the fact you couldnt get a work permit?)

thanks god they are not

How would you know? None of them date dirty Bulgies (pakis of Eastern Europe!)

Where did you learn all that, beelzebub?

Im guessing she lived there.

Pepsi/Coke products" in general. Yes, they taste different, and better, in America. My students never believe that one.

How ODD, I dont really drink Coke (or any other fizzy drinks), but my friend has a bit of a diet coke addiction and says that coke everywhere else is different to what its like in the UK...You have the "light" stuff they sell on mainland Europe and she wont touch that either...

I could not live in America, not my cup of tea.

Another country you couldnt live in...Bet the Yanks are as gutted as the Brits you cant stand their countries!

That and they can't get over the weird extra bit of skin you guys have down there ;)

Its natural...men with their pully sniped isnt...Would you cut a polo neck into a V neck? ;0)

or maybe because she was simply intelligent? :-)

Nail, Hammer and Head...or.....got it in one!

Life / Why do you choose to stay in Poland, why not other country? [152]

how many would enter.

If in Krakow....... many - I eat "Italian" food there and it was of a very low standard....didnt see any Greek restaurants, or I would have been in like a shot! Meze at lunch time in the summer would be a dream...You'd make a fortune!

you can get a chunk of cheese and there are always two prices given: for that chunk and for a kilo.

But you dont buy it by the kilo though, anyway, I can honestly say and agree that the cheese in Poland was dreadful...really bland..but there were other things that were nice...I didnt go to eat cheese sandwiches! :D

Life / Why do you choose to stay in Poland, why not other country? [152]

you have to spend at least 50 zlotys per kilo for the cheese

LOL...You eat it by the kilo?

Yeah, they mark-up way too much. I get the bargain goods (okazja) in my local deli and even at half-price they are overpriced. Foreign brands I mean.

I wonder what the Poles think of the prices of Polish food in the UK, I purchased a packet soup (best way to describe it really) of Barszcz Czerwony for 70p, its a fairly big packet and reckon would serve 2 so 35p for a bowl of soup doesnt sound too bad and thats imported...Along with the rest of the range of Polish products (this was a Tesco Metro in the city centre and their prices are always higher than the ones out of town)...

News / What the Polish government do to bring back home Polish immigrants? [116]

Its true my Polish is weak, especially in writing and that's only through my fault but not one of you could refute my points

Hardly, you evidently dont live in a country where unemployment levels are high and government assistance is next to nothing...PRIDE DOESNT FEED CHILDREN OR PAY THE BILLS..One can feel proud at the end of a week after having worked hard and earnt money, regardless of what country one lives in and regardless of what job one has had to do to earn that money...If you consider starving yourself and your family a proud thing to do then...you are fcuking stupid!

As to what are Poland doing, from what my mate say, not a lot..he went home, was offered a pittence with the knowledge he could earn a damn sight more in the UK, so after several months with no job in Poland he came back...I dont see it changing any time soon.
