USA, Canada / Not everyone that lives or comes from America is RICH! [300]

I truly hope you get a nasty toothache and a big $$ dentist bill.

You are not being very nice.Don't you have insurance?Hey, in the worst case scenario you can always use state subsidized dentist,it will cost you $40 a visit. And PL is not much cheaper, last time when I needed a bridge I paid PLN 3500.

USA, Canada / Not everyone that lives or comes from America is RICH! [300]

She makes $13/hr, and after adding up all of her bills like rent, electric, water, gas, phone, cable, car insurance, car payment, etc.. she has $200 a month left for food, fuel, clothes, entertainment and all other incidentals. Hardly enough, forget about saving anything. She will never get out of the hole she's in...

BS,she just lives beyond her means and blows money away.Car payment? How about going to an auction and getting a decent vehicle for a couple of G's cash.?Whatever you ppl say, living in the US is much more comfortable for an average person than living in Poland. How about getting unemployement for 2 years? Can you get it in PL?And it's $400/week (MD),so it makes little sense for many to acctually take low paid job.

$13/hr is what, like $1700 take home (not including the rebate check at the end of the year...). Maybe time to cut a bit of that spending?

Exactly.Making $13/h I was taking home $421/week.You won't live in a mansion but it's enough to have a decent living and even put few $$$ aside every month.

The Americans will enjoy high standard of living as long as USD is being accepted worlwide, even though their standard of living is dropping and I don't see the new generation being able to afford "baby boomers" standard.

UK, Ireland / UK residency without living in the UK? [15]

Why not trade under say, a company in the Isle of Man, and live in Poland

As I remember they want more money than I can come up with.

Switzerland is also a good idea if you're a resident, I'm not

Neither am I.I am ok with paying some CGT but not freaking 19% no matter what,no allowances, only 50% of pravious year losses.Besides I would feel really bad suplaying Polish gov with at least 9k PLN since I have better idea how to use it than Polish crooks do.

UK, Ireland / UK residency without living in the UK? [15]

Can anybody tell me is it possible to become an UK resident without actually having to live there (I would live in PL so Poles haters don't bother).I am asking because I trade stocks some times and I like UK CGT allowance which is 10.100 pounds and there is many ways to raise it.I have to say I hate to pay any taxes but since I have to pay some it would be much better for me to live in Poland but pay taxes in the the UK.Also can I register company in UK and pay their ZUS or whatever but operate in Poland?

Law / Polish business haven't got a clue: Discuss. [72]

GM has a huge market cap

??? I didn't know they are listed.Now, if you
talking MTLQQ it has market c(r)ap of $147 milions. You call it huge?As for GM I heard they are about to try to sell some stocks soon and I wonder who will buy it?

Fannie and Freddie as well,

As well don't.FNM 432M FMCC 232M.I think in last Q FMCC lost $4B.

AIG, Citi....

Naither is making any money.

I think in terms of genuinely successful Polish companies that have operations abroad I can only think of KGHM

Congo?Well, they made some little investment in Canada lately but it's only $40M and KGHM net profit this year is expected to be 4 B PLN.

Law / Downfall of motor industry in Poland [30]

Denmark? Portugal? Ireland?

They are little nations on the periferies of Europe(no offence meant).

Solaris must be one of the very few exceptions?

I am hoping it is the begining of revival of POLISH motor industry.

Have you ever driven a Syrena?

Hehe I never did.But I am going to get myself a maluch soon.

Was it Solidarność or Balzermann & Co. that destroyed Polish industry

Phucking crimminals."We" were building cars, ships, trains and planes and now what?Supermarkets?

It's a shame that 40 milion nation in the heart of Europe doesn't have at least one car brand.Everyone else does even smaller nations.

What about the stolen Polish design that Renault have been using for a while?

You probably talking about FSM Beskid.
...
But the design wasn't stolen,I've read the patent expired.

It still would be nice to have one.Right now all "we" have is Solaris Bus@Coach and I truly admire Mr.Olszewski for creating a Polish brand from nothing.

Law / Downfall of motor industry in Poland [30]

There were some good ideas in Poland but the cars never went into production.

I like Syrena Sport and FSO Wars but I think the most interesting was Beskid, some say it was later copied by Renault (Twingo).Oh and they also say Lada Samara is a FSO Wars (engines line is the same as the one in Wars was to be.

Love / Possibility of Marriage with a Polish lady [96]

also i heard polish girls are better than other EU countries in chaste and virginity
and now i am really crazy !

No, they are not any better or worse.Besides what's up with that virginity thing?I am assuming you are also a virgin since you look for one.And if you are not then it doesn't seem fair to me.You muslims have to understand that man and women are EQUAL.Anyway from my experience banging a virgin is very stressfull.

Language / Poles - don't fall into the French/Spanish trap re pronunciation/accent! [81]

Which is one is 'correct'? ;)

I guess that depends on where you live.

Poles, don't do it - please!

You should rather asked us to do it.You have to pronounce like natives otherwise you won't be understood. At least learn spelling in case they do "huh?".I used to ask people to correct me and now even though I still sound "Russian" to Americans they seem to understand very well.

E.g. when practicing French with a native speaker, time and time again I hear "Yes, not bad, your French is quite good - but you need to practice your accent"

Haha French.I used to work for a French company in Poland (I don't speak any French) and at the orientation one of them was speaking English and at first I was thinking "wow ,he is speaking French and I can understand someting."

News / Poland goes bankrupt? [110]

Those two wars are a drop in the bucket.

True.Americans just live beyond their means and goverment (on all levels)spendings are sky high.Just look how the goverment sector wages compare to those in private sector. But Americans also waste a lot and they could easily cut down on consumption.I still can't understand why would anybody want a 8cyl 4.6l eng in an ordinary sedan?

Poland will not go belly up......unless it can tackle it's unfunded liabilities.

I am not so sure about it.Poland needs to cut goverment expenses, balance the budget and start PAYING OFF THE DEBT!I don't understand how countries can function just adding the debt? After paying all of the foraign debt Poland should back PLN with silver and live long and happy.

News / Poland goes bankrupt? [110]

Poland had a strong currency.

BS.Swiss frank is what you call a strong currency.

No it shouldn't be like Greece or Hungary as they don't have their own currency anymore.

BS.Hungary still has Forint.

don't give up zloty

Agree.

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

Military + Economy + Regional Organizations = power. Argentina is a South American power,

I see you are a big fan of Argentina.Nothing wrong with that.

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

Argentina is the second largest economy on the South American continent.

Fine with me,but the question was about natural resources.

They are a counterforce to Brazil.

How it can be a counterforce being roughly 4 times smaller in pretty much every aspect. It is like saying Poland is a counterforce to Russia.

But who wants to mine such dirty things?

Average salary in KGHM is PLN 8700/month.

News / WHY IS POLAND STILL GIVEN THE COLD SHOULDER? [197]

because Poland does not have natural recourses or the same ones of Saudi Arabia and Argentina

Ridiculous statement. What's Argentina's natural resources?Cattle?Poland has the BIGGEST known reserves of silver in the whole world and plenty of copper and coal.

News / What's the stupidest question asked about Poland? [414]

This is really not a question that I'm asked, but if I meet someone and I say I'm from Poland, the frequent reply is "oh yeah, my aunt was from Romania (or any other country from that part of the world". I know they are trying to be polite and break some ice, but I never know how to reply to this...(I usually smile and say "really?").

Haha. Americans do that.I replay "Cool".

Another question is "what part of Poland", which would be OK, but usually they have only vague idea where Poland is, let alone know its shape or location of particluar city. But of course I have to answer, after which I receive that blank stare. I give some more information (like "near Cracow"), still nothing... "near Russia", then "oh, OK".

Exactly.Like any of them has any clue about geography of Poland.

Oh yeah, and one more: "How is Poland like?". Please can someone give me a good answer to that?

Haha, man you must have met same people I have.I respond "What do you mean?"
