UK, Ireland / Documentary on foreign and local workers in a town in England. [66]

In Ireland this changes when you are 24 and is made a lot easier if you have been on the dole for a long time. you should check out the details in Holland as I think they would be more helpful, they change depending on circumstances.

Bloody Fas courses? "How to turn on a computer".

I think countries should aspire to the Dutch model, not the other way around. The Dutch are one of the most educated, in the EU.

UK, Ireland / No job unless you're Polish [201]

Who is this character?

Helena Danielczuk, who works for Bradford mental health charity Sharing Voices, said she had been approached by more than a dozen Eastern European workers who lost their jobs at Forza.

She said: 'They have to work for an unbroken 12 months otherwise they are unable to claim Jobseeker's Allowance. Some of them are destitute.' The charity has called for financial support for migrant workers left without work because of the fire.

So, she wants the Brits to cough up more cash to people who paid phuc all into the system? Surely its upto the Polish embassy to supply them with a ticket home?

We have "cultural enrichers" like her over here too. We have a phucing Slovak pushing for citizenship reform. Apparently, five years is to long of a wait for the bringers of "diversity" and "vibrancy".

As far as I can tell, this company is happy with Polish workers and wants more of them so it offers training in Polish and does not seek out other nationalities very much. Demand, meet supply.

Ok, so you think the company has the right to operate outside the law. Sound.

Should the British people not be asked for their opinion on the current colonisation of their country? Referendum, meet democracy.

What about Browns "British jobs for British workers" statement?

Somebody needs to buy him a map of the world.

I'm sure this is being blown out of proportion and there's more to the story than being reported.

Try a google search. Its a regular occurance at this stage.

Due to Polands dangerously low birth rate, Poland is going to get lashed out of it with mass immigration in the not so distant future. Gonna be interesting to say the least.

Just a thought: What if the cutting costs by employing the immigrants is the only way to stay in business? Either immigrants or closure. If you didn't notice - It's a crisis (depression) time.

Slash the welfare state and there is no need for unskilled immigrants.

We did in the 80s. Then millions more came expecting the same again. No, wait in line and do it the legal way like everyone else does.

I really dont want to get into this as I like Americans, but technically, they are indigenous to parts of the USA.

I meant workers not you.

The sole purpose of the British government is to provide for its citizens, not eastern euros, not africans, not asians. Just its own citizens.

Its an election year and mass immigration is a big issue so we will see what transpires.

Today the situation is that average employer can save a lot of money by ie employ some Polish and deny them the paid Holiday. Even if the employer would be cached and fined (about £1500) - it' still worth the risk!

Bollocks. The current policy of open borders is economically insane.

This is from an Irish perspective but no doubt the same rings true in the UK.

A FAS study over a year ago said that the average immigrant earned just €440 a week, therefore there is very little by way of income tax and as much of this income will go on staple food which is 0 VAT rated and transferred abroad the contribution in consumption taxes and the 'multiplier effect' is very much reduced.

Consider the thousands of teachers that have been taken on in our schools because of immigrant children and the additional cost of immigrant children over and above Irish children because of language support. Then add in the health costs, justice (something like 1/3rd of the prison population are foreigners, mostly eastern europeans). Then look at the economic activity of immigrants. Last week, the CSO said that foreigners were 19.1% of those in receipt of benefits and that figure is rising month on month, I have no doubt it will break 25% next year. Then add in the Childrens Allowances, Rent Supplements, all the other benefits etc etc.

Its much easier to blame Polish workers. Their only crime was that when offered a job - They accepted it.

What would happen if millions of Brits and Paddies went over to Poland and started undercutting the locals?

Really there is a lot to be done. But no one seems to be interested in it.

Operate a work permit scheme and hire more employment inspectors. The skilled Polish have nothing to worry about as they will gain a permit relatively easily.

Not only are we supporting 10% of a country's population (yes folks, >10% of Mexico's population live in the US illegally!) now because of it many jobs require we speak their language.

The EU is on the verge of doing away with visa restrictions on Turkish citizens. Their GNP is less than that of Mexico. Theres 70 million of them.

Give me the Mexicans anyday over the poles and turks.

50 million
As first language: 309-400 million, as second language: 199-1,400 million.
Overall: 500 million-1.8 billion

I was out by ten million, big deal.

In the general scheme of things, Polish is a rather useless language for native english speakers unless they plan to relocate to Poland.

To get a job.

Polish is spoken by circa 40 million people around the globe. English is spoken by billions.

If they were smart they would learn polish and become menagers.

If Ireland and the UK were really smart and gave two phucs about their citizens, they would implement a work permit scheme for all eastern europeans.

Geez, RN, I'm well aware of that. There are a couple of online speeches about the dilution of national sovereignty. Well worth watching! They can play their little games if it keeps them amused.

A suggestion if I may.

Join the lcoal Polish/British for europe society. I have recently become a member of the Ireland for europe society. I have only attended two meetings so far but once I get a foothold, I will be encouraging them to come out with the most ludicrous motions and press releases.

It really makes Poland look bad. Average salaries have gone up here so why the continued exodus?

Has inflation risen too? Whats the unemployment rate?

EU discrimination lawyers need to step in and clear up the mess.

Seanus, once you stop believing that the EU views its 27 members as sovereign states, things like this start to make sense.

The end game is 500 million consumers who view themselves as europeans and only europeans.

Imagine if an employer advertised for "Brits Only" or ‘No Polish Wanted’.

I have noticed a sharp increase in job offers here "as gaelige". A most welcome development.

British workers have been turned away from jobs in a local factory - for not speaking Polish.

Cooked meat manufacturer Forza AW effectively barred anyone but Poles for applying for jobs on its production line in East Anglia by insisting all staff speak the language fluently.

The company claimed it was necessary as all health and safety training was conducted in Polish.

You look at the history of the Brits, what a history and this from an Irish man. They have a lot to be proud of and indeed embarrassed about. Why, after years of killing, exploiting and abusing others are they now allowing themselves to be taken over so easily? What happened to them?

News / Polish Immigrants Leave America for Europe [210]

That is true.. all the cramping us limitations.. expensive schools, no insurance, no job opportunities without work papers. I loved US and it was a heart-breaking experience for me to leave but I could not stay there anymore with my hands tied. N.

You were illegal, right? Bit rich to be complaining.

UK, Ireland / Help Renouncing UK Citizenship and gaining Polish one [24]

I want to renounce my British citizenship

If you plan to travel in the future, Polish citizens have more restrictions placed on them compared to British citizens. Its even difficult to get a holiday visa for the US, if you are Polish.

Maybe go down the dual-citizenship route? I wouldnt burn my bridges with the UK, if I was you.
