i mean, who can really eat one pound of french fries with a half pound of meat between 4 buns and a half gallon on soda... ?

Me, I have the big problem of the fact that there is a McDonalds, Burgerking (superb), chippy and Indian right across the road where I work. So my whole diet during a normal working day varies from lovely burgers to stinging hot curries :) I eat like a horse but still not a fatty... my dad was the same until he quit the army and turned 50...big fella now like :D

UK, Ireland / Ive been in the UK for 6 days to relocate and im going back to Poland. [281]

I am assuming your career as a MHN is rather a calling, sth you are passionate about? How could you have ever entered this in Poland?

I wouldn't have. I am very aware of the set-up in Poland and I wouldn't work under those conditions, plus the pay is sh1t.

It's a calling yes, but that doesn't mean it is the only job im passionate about. I'm also employed for an international company based in Krakow at the moment and I will most likely return to full time with them. As well as a few other "projects" I have in mind ;)

Beacause I was brought up speaking English and I have the UK to thank for this

Good English teachers who are Poles can make just as much as their "Native" counterparts ;)

Food / Traditional Polish meal for my Polish boyfriend in the US? [71]

you don't have to eat bigos...

So why has Poland not any top restaurants? Even in Krakow or Warsaw most people prefer to go to foreign places...I.e Italian, French ect, why are there no Polish chefs attempting to make Polish food great???

But any traditional method I tasted or was shown in Poland they boil the cabbage for freaking years...it tasted like old fish :/

Cabbage cut up in such small strips should not be boiled for more than 10 mins, or else it will lose all taste and texture.

The problem with Polish food is that on the whole most of it is one pot cooking using stale ingredients. It makes for very bland flavours that don't really excite your tastebuds. Take Bigos for example. Using preserved cabbage (an ingredient that should never be preserved) and pork. This meal would taste and does taste a thousands times better using fresh cabbage with a more spicy sausage, Spanish sausages for example.

I dont see anyone bashing the UK in this thread. The OP was just stating his opinion about the land where he came from.

The UK gave me little and to say that I wouldn't be where I am today without it is not true. I worked hard and worked even harder to be where I am.

It's not really UK bashing. I think it's just a case of WB and I having returned to our "homeland" to find things have moved on in a direction that we didn't expect. I still love my Scotland, Im sure WB love his England. But is that enough for us both wanting to make our homes here?

This country has well and truly gone to the dogs. Dont even get me started on ugly overweight people, thats a whole new thread.

I remember having a thread saying the exact same when I came back over mate. The country has indeed gone to the dogs, manners are no longer part of being British...being British is no longer part of being British.

I toughed it up and accepted the way it has gone, but I still consider Poland as my home and cant wait to get back :)

Law / Brit obtaining driver licence in Poland [4]

Strange, I started taking lessons 2 weeks after I moved to Poland. Are you sure you're talking about taking the test as opposed to taking lessons?

Edit: or even im getting mixed up between the two :D

Life / Things we enjoyed as kids in Poland [140]

Its good I haven't used an american name for cola - coke... wow that would sound creepy ;D

Yeah, school would be a blast though :D

Would you swallow the bag too?

I remember when you went to a restaurant, all dishes were mentioned on the menu with their weigth - for example "pstrąg - 200 gr"

They still have a place which does the in Krakow...though not really great place :/
