Life / Girls in Poland shaving side of head!? [30]

It is "popular" the way that 1 in a 100 teenage girls/young women has it.

I was hoping for that answer, i think it ruins a good looking girls looks, maybe it works for Rhianna but i dunno about the rest.

News / Poles -- Europe's very best? [21]

Everyone's ugly, and if they're not ugly on the outside they're probably ugly on the inside.

It's all depends on whether they have their mask on or off ;)

News / Poles -- Europe's very best? [21]

"Fifty seven percent of Poles told opinion pollsters ICM that they thought they were the most attractive in Europe" Well Polish girls (while still young) in general are pretty, there are definitely a lot of them. As for men i dunno i don't look at them that way.

Language / So why did you give up learning Polish? [105]

Well said. I can't comment on how hard it is since it's my first language and speak it well, i assume for people from non Slavic countries it's difficult, but some people have a gift for languages.

Genealogy / Herszlewicz and Gdalywicz [8]

*lol*
I know I'm Jewish

And i know too, I'm just saying that name isn't Polish in origin so maybe you're asking the wrong people? lol
It say's it's Jewish (eastern Ashkenazic): variant of Hershkowitz. So if Ashkenazi it must originate somewhere in Germany.

Herskowitz, but I know its original spelling was Herszlewicz. Son of ...?

Both don't sound Polish in origin, probably Jewish.

" Well Paddy, there wasnt a name tag so I had to make sure it was none of the girls in my Parish...."....

HAHA good one. Not sure if this is a Polish joke but i heard it in Polish...
God let's a drunk, a smoker and a gay man out of hell with one condition they can't commit their sins ever again( drink, smoke, have homosexual sex) the three of them are walking down the street the drunk notices a bar a say "hey guys I'll just go in for a quick shot no one with know" his friends beg him to reconsider he goes anyways takes a shot, and dies.

The smoker says to the gay man "what an idiot we told him not to do it" so the smoker and gay man walk on after some time the smoker notices a cigarette butt laying on the ground the gay man turns to him and says "don't bend over or we'll both die"

tell me a "dumb polack" joke and Ive heard it as "irish" a thousand times

When the Irish were new to the States they too had the stereotype of being dumb, Italians also. The longer that certain group is in America and the fewer new immigrant come they pass, few Poles come to the States nowadays and these Polish jokes are less ans less common so everyone calm down.

"An Englishman Irishman and Scotsman walked into a bar......" jokes in the states then?

An Irish guy is sitting at a bar (I know, joke over?, No) and a gay man walks in and whispers in his ear and says "I'll give you a blow job"

The Irish guy picks the gay man up and throws him out of the bar, the bartender asks "what was that all about?"

The Irish guy says "I dunno, something about a job."

It's not anti-Polish. It's anti-Polack, which is defined as being "sub-human racist dumb scum from America of Slavic peasant origins".

Dude pop a Lunesta and go to sleep.

Question...how can Poles achieve "better" stereotypes?

If Germans joked about Poles not being too good in football (as they are not lately) i wouldn't mind so much.

I'm claiming it as an offensive word to describe plastic Poles in America. It's not aimed at real Poles, nor is it aimed at the decent Poles who go to America for a better life - it's solely used to describe those that wouldn't do a damned thing for Poland.

Making up your own definitions i see, interesting. Thank you for calling me a decent Pole who moved to America though, that was nice.

If you called me this to my face you would be swallowing your rotten British teeth.

Des he's not British, just a simple country boy from Hujowa Górka.

But keep the **** out of European affairs - we're not interested in petty inner American rivalries between Jews, Polacks and so on.

I told u a zillion times, Polack is an derogatory term for all Poles not just Polish Americans, actually especially Poles in Poland or ones who recently came to the States.

America saved Europe from Nazi domination

Exactly, if America kept out of Polish or European affairs Poland would never have gained her independence after WWI, western European nations didn't give a rat's ass about Poland, Woodrow Wilson pushed for Poland's independence. America allowed millions of Poles to escape from poverty and communism, Reagan backed Solidarity.

just think doing the indignant/protest ritual every time somebody makes a joke does NOTHING to better your image.

I was just replying to Specter's comments. In America it's different, ethnic jokes are a no no.

BB it's all about the severity of the joke, if it's implying that a people are stupid, or drunks, or thieves it's worse than someone going on stereotypes about Italians being in the mafia or a hoodlum, some people might be proud of that see that as a though reputation. Or an Asian knowing karate or being a bad driver is far less offensive than being labeled a dumb drunk.

I would feel sorry for the people being "flagged" and put out for ridicule, no one should deserve it. I actually defended a Mexican last weekend, some young white guys were laughing at him and impersonating Speedy Gonzales ,he put his head down in shame, i curved them out.

"Pa. Senator Arlen Specter has found himself in some hot water are reportedly making some Polish jokes at a recent luncheon.
Specter's insensitive joke catalog included one about the man who interrupted him once, saying, "Hey, careful. I'm Polish!" Specter said he responded, "That's OK -- I'll tell it more slowly," according to the NY Post.

No one walked out of the luncheon, according to sources, but it seems that Specter managed to offend both Polish and non-Polish attendees."
It was a bigoted joke meant to be hurtful that was specifically about Poles. Even non Poles found it offensive, good shows people wont stand for it. He said sorry, when??? after he said it, after he accomplished what he wanted in getting his "message" through. I wonder what his reaction would be if someone said a Jewish joke back at him. And this is supposed to be an educated person, acting like inbred trash.

Travel / Tallest buildings in Europe in Kraków? [9]

Balice are far away.

Exactly. Krakow can have a historic and modern financial district as well. Having both will give the city a nice twist.

It doesn't suit Kraków. Maybe somwhere round Warsaw.

Well what do you think about the possibility a Central airport being built in between Lodz and Warsaw within the next 2 years for 3 billion euros, and Okecie maybe closing down. hotmoney.pl/artykul/kraj-lotnisko-okecie-zostanie-zamkniete-18845

I have always noticed that most of the times, people who like to dish out to the Polish people (or enjoy seeing it being dished out to the Polish people) hate it when you dish it back out at their ancestry.

Of course. They think you'll just stand there and smile while they gloom at your expense. Proof of how insecure they are of their own ethnicity, looks (or lack of) or poverty. Something is "hurting" them.

Would the krauts use Jewish stereotypes on their TV shows??

Anything slightly anti Jewish is anti Semitic and racist. But it's ok to do it to Poles, since they're white even though the jokes make fun of their ethnicity and specifically target them. The thing is some ******** don't care if these stereotypes are not true, it's to make the people producing them and watching them feel better about themselves, superior.

Travel / Tallest buildings in Europe in Kraków? [9]

They look like two very modern buildings. I'm sure it's a few kilometers from historic Krakow, just like the business center in Paris is far from the Eiffel Tower, or in Moscow from St. Basil's Cathedral.
