News / Polish bishop caught with 2,5 promille [45]

It might help if you find out what the bishop was drinking, it may help with your suffering.

Good one:))) Methinks in the bishops' case, the Communial cup overfloweth:)

Seriously - that was a bad one for the community, and why I try to stay away from the doors of the church, whereas Polonius for example, actively seeks out LGBT marches because they cause him so much pain:) like the rabble on the streets at Corpus Christi annoy me.

You mafia foreginer

There's a guy just like you on the other thread:))

Now - you are new here. Behave yourself. Because, if you don't.......

Oh wait a minute - you don't have a sense of humour do you?

bishops seems to let them be

And you're not very smart are you. The crim is a bishop. And you of course would be glad to challenge the people's rights, but the clergy have their ecclesiastical laws right?

the info is here, if you can read in Polish

Thanks! As I understand it, the gentleman received 6 months suspended, a fine of 2,400 zl, donated 4,000 zl to some charity, was banned from driving for 4 years, was suspended from the bishopry, but in 2015 was reinstated in some post............

The 6 months suspended stuff would be laughable. I got 2 years probation and some aggravation when a woman walked out into the road plumb in front of my car and I was unable to stop in time, although driving under the speed limit.

All the above might indicate why you never "informed the board" as to this gentleman's misdemeanours and the ridiculousness of the status of this medieval religion- but I'm sure you can shed some light on my misunderstanding of the truth of the matter?

News / Polish bishop caught with 2,5 promille [45]

What is really shameful is that the prosecutor had earlier agreed to the bishop's plea. I shall be informing the forum of the final court ruling in the case.

Does anybody know what finally happened to this guy? Just wondering, on this day of Corpus Christi, when we all have to suffer the inane dirge of the litany on the street, which has (fortunately) just departed from outside Dougpol Towers.

Frightened off no doubt by the crescendo of "Voodoo Chile (No return)" rocking down the road:))

History / 13 of December - the anniversary of MARTIAL LAW in Poland [48]

what do you think of the American invasion of .........

Greneda...
Yes, it is weird that OT Mr B was apparently a highly charismatic bon-viveur with an alarmingly high strike-rate (lady killer wise......). We now know in retrospect that little ole Poland was low on his list, as he was about to kick the bucket from a dodgy ticker.

But you are of course so right that Poland was on the brink. It doesn't mean that Michnik was referring to communism and Martial Law when he referred to the deadly duo as "men of ..." as Polonius incessantly and erroneously repeats.

I know quite a few people now in their 60s, who said that at the time they were ready to occupy their factories if the Russkis invaded. Instead a conscript army was put on the streets as you know in minus 25 degrees of frost and the starved population had to give in without a fight.

Yet Delph and Harry support those crims. Utterly baffling.

History / 13 of December - the anniversary of MARTIAL LAW in Poland [48]

What kind of scum betrays his own country and his own mother

And does Moscow's bidding for them. Delph has obviously read some strange history books, but he should ask the person on the street, the shipyard worker, the coalminer, the factory worker, the engineer, the schoolteacher, what they thought of Martial Law and the "Soviet danger".

We now know it didn't exist, and that the Russkis were going to leave the Poles to it. And some call the generals patriots. Not the American administration and not the British government of the time either.

Who gives one about the army anyway? Soldiers are well paid to do our dirty work for us, and politics demand that we thank them, while all they are doing is a job, and often not in our name.

Kisczak and the sun glassed general were as clear a pair of traitors as you will see this side of Armageddon, no matter what some militaristic history books state about their "inner" qualities. and I feel embarrassed for the reasoning of Poles who supported the act of Martial Law in retrospect.

one of a handful that actually would have shone in a Western army too.

Already stated Delph. British - IMO he would have been executed as a traitor.

History / 13 of December - the anniversary of MARTIAL LAW in Poland [48]

Michnik called traitors Jaruzelski and Kiszczak "men of honour"

And he was of course referring to the Round Table talks, when the commies had to save themselves, and would have sold their own mothers, and not to the traitorous declaration of Martial Law - which the majority of Poles laughably seem to think saved Poland from the Russkis.

To be fair though Delph - while I admire Michnik et al, I am of the camp that had both the Generals been British, they would have long since got the same as Lord Haw Haw.

Martial Law was a crime against the Polish people and they should both have swung for it.

UK, Ireland / Poles - go home make your country better [40]

The UK does need Poles, just as Germany needs immigrants.
It is only countries such as Poland that are nationalist and clueless as to how the Free Market actually works.

News / Adam Michnik awarded for integrity, professionalism and high standards. Poland's No. 1 fascist? [321]

I presume.

Are you retired Pol? Haven't you got shopping to do, or something - other than spouting nonsense here?
Or does Tesco deliver it for you, in this so disgusting capitalist world that even the commies were desperate for in the end, but that you want to return to a nationalist backwater myth of "Poland - The bastion of christian values."

Travel / Białowieża National Park in Poland [461]

Merged: The Forest - worth a thread on its own Mods. IMO

Bialowieza logging permits now issued.
Forest scientists and directors all sacked and replaced by nepotistic appointees. Greenpeace threatening action, for the bison, lynx and wolf need vast tracts of ecosystem to roam.

It's all going to kick off soon. Is the EU going to let these PIS crims get away with destroying the environment of a once beautiful land totally?

Once more into the breach dear friends - this time for Polish honour, not for St George.....

First step. Pay off all the locals who are biatch ing about "cheap wood for fuel", and re-house them in some block district of Bialystok - they'll get all the municipal heat they want there.

Last stand for Europe's remaining ancient forest as loggers prepare to move in

Government plans to fell Poland's Białowieża forest have divided families, led to death threats against green campaigners and allegations of an 'environmental coup' by government and state timber interests

Life / Poland is safe to visit - "Daily Mail" [100]

while one case where pole was killed by bunch of blacks in neasden.

hay are incredibly harsh on poles in courts.

Que? Probably because it seems harsh because Poles (for instance) don't appear to appreciate that (to take one instance of UK law) you will get a years' driving ban ( and quite rightly too) for not stopping at a pedestrian crossing when my foot is actually on the crossing?

The key is to be informed of the law. To suggest that British magistrates, with all the public accountability that there is, are unduly harsh on people because they are Polish is laughable.

Give us specific comparisons for the same crime scenario and we might listen.
In the meantime it's just another of your racist rants.

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

Rubbish! Polish craft beer knocks spots off macro-lagers such as Budweiser

Yes yes Harry. Craft beers are great, but the palate needs a rest from that heavy malt. For I actually enjoy drinking rather a lot of Czech beer. As the Germans say, 2 or 3 beers only is money wasted:)))

If I drank Craft beers all the time I would be:

1. Overweight more than I am already.
2. Skint/broke/potless.
3. (And the most important of all) Unable to work:))

And work is the curse of the drinking classes - which is where I'm going now:) after a night with my friends George Ballantine and Bud Budweiser I can do that happily. A few bottles of that Ale browar craft stuff and I feel like cancelling the next day!

I know this in OT - but Budweiser Budwar is 2,49 at Lidl at the mo - and vastly superior to the majority of Polish beers at twice the price. Bit of a non-brainer really IMO.

To be drunk at around 15 degrees C, and not chilled to the marrow.

it was great local beer from cleanest polish area of roztocze.

Never tried it unfortunately. In communist days I was happy to get any beer at all, and the only beer available in any quantity in the shops in Katowice was Krakus, from Krakow....... It was awful, but as it was beer, it was paradoxically great:)

And knowledge

Been brewing beer for 40 years Wulkan:) Unlike the Poles, I and my fellow Brits do know a thing or two about beer. Of course, living in the West Midlands, you will be content with that chemical muck they swill there (Banks of Wolverhampton excluded:)

Work / Moving to Poland with Family - cost of living and salary? [46]

Rent for 60-80 sqm apartment: About 2000-3000 (check what is included and what is not included in the rent agreement!)

Really?. All high end. Rents here in Gdynia for 65 metres are around 1,600 for modern /high standard. Gas 300 (in winter) Bus/ SKM 200 zl.Internet 120 MB 70 zl. Are you quoting Warsaw prices?

But none of the above is beer. It is chemical water. I am guilty of buying Tyskie myself from time to time, but it WILL shorten your life, and that is a given.

Breweries have always been a licence for governments to raise money. Now that they are publically listed conglomerates, natural ingredients do not exist in sufficient quantity.

Brew your own if you have time.

If you "couldn't care less about his 'race'" then why bring it up?

Do keep up. I stated the opinion that the immigrants are usually the ones who cry loudest at other immigration - and the customs official, who happened to be an immigrant himself - was ridiculously over-jealous in his job.

This has a bearing on some Poles in Britain who are heard to remark "Look at those dirty immigrants...."

I hope that clears things up for you.

You may enjoy a jobsworth talking down to you as you wish, but some of us reserve the right to scorn.

No. The accent was from the sub-continent. Or am I not allowed to use that term either? Anyway I presume he was a gentlemen, just like a German gentlemen. Or did you assume the word "Wog" ? Please don't assume unless it be with intelligence.

your racism

We don't see you speaking out against the disgusting racism on this board rozumiemnic. But I don't comment on that , so please refrain from polluting this thread.

Asian gentleman' indeed.

Asian ******? Asian bloke? Asian guy? Asian fascist in a customs' coat?

The word "Asian" is important here. The man was from India, born there (from his accent) and was giving me cheek, up with which I shall not put from a Caucasian either.

But at the end of the day I couldn't care less about his race - just the stupid questions, when it was obvious I was British.. No kettle.

UK, Ireland / Why English do not like Polish? [417]

If someone thinks that it is right being racist, xenophobic and a dick towards a whole nation just because some individuals from that nation were racist towards him.

Nobody is saying Poles per se are racist.

What witnesses are saying however is that some Poles in the UK, educated Poles at that, some of who I know personally, are discriminatory and xenophobic towards Asians in particular, and blacks, solely based on their skin colour and lifestyle choice.

As I've said before, us immigrants are always the worst offenders. I had some Asian gentlemen in customs at Coventry airport ask me "What the purpose of my visit" to the UK was. Even when faced with my British passport. He was guarding his country you see, like you Poles are "guarding" your adopted country of the UK.

It doesn't need guarding, so I think you all are safe to go back to your vodka parties and concentrate on other matters, and let the Asians get on with their lifestyle choices at the same time.

Are you taking about WWII Poles that fought for Britain and stayed there?

No, and that is clear to others. I think you would find that that generation was appalled at the EU wave of immigration, and either stay clear of them or (at least at first) exploited them.
