News / Piotr Glinski - PIS candidate for PM of Poland [9]

Since 70% of the Polish voters (including 110% of the expat vote?) think PIS & Co are bollocks, this is of course a charade.
I am surprised the duck did not present himself as Saviour of the Fatherland though ?

News / A new AWS (Poland Solidarity Movement)? [54]

70% of the Polish voters (this includes also me in local and European elections) think that the Nuremberg rally we watched Sat was bollocks.
This means they have a much better understanding of Polish society as you.
TVN24 was wonderful - they let the nutcases show themselves in all their glory.
Best moment was when I was in PKP Środmieście waiting for a train to Piaseczno. The whole station got flooded by smolenkists...and then I heard somebody telling "God sent me to Warsaw today".

People like these are capable of murdering a president or a premier.

News / A new AWS (Poland Solidarity Movement)? [54]

I do no expect you to grasp the idea of "Europe". Which started in wartime with the Benelux. Growing with Paul-Henri Spaak and Jean-Claude Monet. With Konrad Adenauer.

The idea of a unified Europe, building from the ashes and old antagonisms, forgetting the smolenkist-like martyrdom. Building the bridge between Germany and France. Building on the past with Charlemagne.

Building to prevent a new war, and building prosperity. And Europe has in this way succeeded big time.
I was raised with these ideas.

News / A new AWS (Poland Solidarity Movement)? [54]

Actually I do, you know. I pass these yellow billboards everyday on the most amazing corners in Warsaw, on my way to work.
It goes from financing the second metro line, to extending a dual pass road in Bielany, to co-financing kindergartens, and road repair works in Klaudyny.

I do not expect you to understand this.
Nor do I expect any Polonian to have a grasp of this.

News / A new AWS (Poland Solidarity Movement)? [54]

Come on, It already happened many years ago, what we need now is rapid modernization of this country

You mean, all these yellow billboards I see on about every construction wharf in Poland, telling that over 50% of the bill is paid by the EU?

Study / How can I study in Poland? Is my high school certificate enough? [30]

And for example; Cyprus isn't located in Europe but Cyprus is member of EU.

Cyprus is since eternal times part of Europe. It always has been. You are Asian. Why do you not go study in Asia?
Don't you lecture us Europeans. You live in Asia.
What is your motivation wanting to study in Europe?

Food / What made in Poland produce would you recommend [110]

He as a genuine simpleton is attacking everyone who does not agree with him. You have to be extremely simple to recommend Polish chocolate. Compared to Swiss or Belgian it is simply a loser big time.

He just wants a fast-track entrance into the EU.
He could also go study in for example, Mongolia or China. Lots of places there. But then again, he would not get access to Europe.

He lives in Asia - the fact that Eurosong was in his country was a joke. Next time Mongolia also will be included :)

News / Poland marching for faith and freedom [43]

What is pathetic that you presume Poland is not free. As I know, we have since 1989 democratic elections.
In one or two the smolenkists won and then ventured on a smashing coalition with LPR and Lepper.
So why do you presume Poland is not free?

And what is very funny is that you as a polam defines that Poland is not a free country. I showed my colleagues at work (here in Poland, and all Polish) your posting and they all thought you are completely daft. But perhaps they are not as patriotic as you pretend to be?

They all vote PO by the way - but this they have in common with the majority of the sane people in Warsaw. I guess this makes them traitors/atheists/lesbians ?

News / Poland marching for faith and freedom [43]

He didn't rob a bank.

He is robbing all the babcias who give him a sizeable part of their pensions.
And of course he is anti-EU, rants at them all the time, but at the same time tried to get EU grants for his geothermal swindle. Some kind of hypocrisy.

Good that the current government put a stop to that one.

Of course another lie is that TV Trwam cannot be received anymore (if anybody would like to watch garbage). There are enough ways of doing so.

She will for sure march Saturday :))))

History / People the Soviets planted in Poland [75]

Anybody, who thinks that in 89 commies capitulated and "freedom won" is naive like a child, commies allowed it all to happen only after they secured their interests. That's one of the main reasons why this country now is so pathetic.

BTW comments of expats in this topic are truly priceless :)))

I guess for you freedom begins when rydzyk hoists his flag on the Royal Castle in Warsaw ?

History / People the Soviets planted in Poland [75]

In Poland they decided to run the underground press and legitimise the anti-system credentials of certain individuals. The byword was credibility. Opposition figures had to look and smell like opposition figures. They also had to be slightly conservative, holding back the more extreme elements and maintaining some sort of cohesion that steered away from rampant populism, which by its very nature is unpredictable and uncontrollable.

So where does the ducks' father figure here? A life-long commie collabo.
So where Minister Bartoszewski figures in this airhead construction?

This reminds me why the Polish church is not exactly in favour of opening the old SB files to everybody - IPN has to be able to blackmail the appropriate people.

Travel / Is it safe to travel to Poland? [194]

I heard PIS flying saucers are cooping up atheistic foreigners and dumping them in Smolensk.
Apart from this Poland is in my view a safe country. I am living here quite a few years and the only thing criminal which happened to me, is that some moron stole 2 wheel covers from my antique Nissan Sunny. I still do not know why :)

Life / General questions for those who have chosen to make Poland their home [32]

I am involved with Poland since in the early eighties as a boyscout leader I helped to organize (through our parish council and Caritas Belgium) humanitarian convoys to Poland. I came first time to Poland in September 1989 and have never looked back since that moment.

I live in Warsaw because my Polish wife never wanted to move permanently to Belgium. I do not think I will go back home any time soon. We have built our life here together, I feel good here and I see no reason to go back home.

Life / "Protestant" or Non Catholic communities in Poland [18]

Now that you mention it - I somewhere read that as well. Still a nice structure. I always wanted to have a peek inside - passing it everyday from/to work, but it is always closed unfortunately.

News / PESA wins €1.2 billion contract with Deutsche Bahn [9]

I still think (as an avoid public transport user) that PESA makes good stuff.
And Solaris buses are driving around everywhere in Berlin.
I am not an engineer, rather a logistics guy, but I am happy they do good business, both of them.

News / PESA wins €1.2 billion contract with Deutsche Bahn [9]

Their trams and trains are well-made and are good PR for this country. Poland has good companies who turn out good products.
The same goes for the Solaris buses. Although the layout of the seats in the slightly less recent ones is not optimal. The fact that the drivers are often...abysmal... well...

And I do not understand why the hybrid buses have to be painted in such idiotic colours.
