Life / How Safe Are the Polish Cities? [179]

@Dougpol: yes, something I forgot about although it pis..es me off: Public transportation is also most often over crowded. Whatever the time of the day, I have most often to stand, for at least part of the trip and it is really exhausting. As to trains, on most routes, it takes for ever to go from one place to another.

Obviously when using transportation on a regular basis in Poland, we cannot find it "great" ;).

As to driving around, according to some EU studies published last year, Warsaw is the worst city and Krakow the 3rd worst city in the EU. Warsaw is a real nightmare....

Life / Driving test, English speaking driving school in Warsaw? [95]

It reminds me of all those self praising dental clinics ;). Good businesses even when not very known don't need to write messages in PF or other fora. They do put concrete ads for which they pay. Only the naives believe anything they see written.

we cannot compare American cities with Polish "cities" which are rather small towns by American standards.

News / Don't let Poland become like my country, France. [630]

More .... muslim bashing! Any stupid bs to vomit hatred on to Muslims. Most unlikely French fascists would write such bs in a forum like PF. When they do, they write in FN's crap sites.

Life / How Safe Are the Polish Cities? [179]

@Marsu: I understand that you don't live in Poland because "great" is not the word to qualify ..... transportation ;). I personally travel through Warsaw for work using public transportation several times each day (normally a minimum of 8/10 times per day) and believe me, most often it's a nightmare. This afternoon, I need to travel from Centrum to Willanow by bus and it's going to be an average of 1hour (normal). Last week, I waited for 1 hour (from 9 to 10:05) at a bus stop in Centrum and no bus for my route although according to schedule the bus should have come at 9:22 and 9:52. These are not exceptions but rather sort of normal..... Driving is of course not any better since awful jams in most places....

Life / How Safe Are the Polish Cities? [179]

@Terri: of course! :). I have personally lived (not on vacation ;)) in 7 different countries and the only place where I was a victim of violence was in ... Centrum Warsaw. Some 4 or 5 years ago, on a bus at 3 pm (in August so full daylight), I had my necklace snatched from me. According to the (Warsaw) police, it happens often. I know someone who had her ring removed from her finger while on the bus again in Warsaw; she was on the phone so she did not realize it. When very young, I walked through American ghettos and in the ... Bronx several times and nothing ;).

What I'm saying is that anything can happen even in Poland and no one can guarantee 100% safety ;)

News / Why Poland became involved in the Iraq war? [5]

Moved from a different thread

I do remember reading an article that the Polish foreign minister at that time (or someone else) said "honestly we are involved in Iraq to get access to Iraq's petrol" , since Poland got involved in Iraq's mess.. which led to the creation of Islamic state in Iraq due to the instability of Iraq after the war

I was already in Poland so I can remember very well. The Polish government was so proud to be among the first to join the socalled "US coalition". Later on, Poland has accepted money from the US in order to have prisons in which CIA tortured Muslims....

So Poland got involved up to their neck and that is also the reason why they have debts towards migrants...

News / Have PO (Platforma) operatives in Poland fallen into a panic? [332]

@Delph: at most very few of said contracts could be changed. It won't be possible for instance in language schools since schools' owners cannot know in advance how much business they can have during any year.

I believe cheap pre election talk!

News / Have PO (Platforma) operatives in Poland fallen into a panic? [332]

@Polsyr: I am well aware of dysfunctionings in Poland and in particularly in health system and for sure some changes in the management have to be made but I am not so sure they don't want to get rid of NFZ and this is scary. Without NFZ, I would have died of cancer as my private insurance did (and does) not cover (heavy) surgery and post operation treatments.

If PO wants to get rid of NFZ, PiS shall make 99% of votes next month ;)

News / Have PO (Platforma) operatives in Poland fallen into a panic? [332]

Get rid of ZUS/NFZ? How shall most Poles manage? Most people in Poland cannot afford private health care. I personally do have a private insurance but in case of surgery or major illness, I have to rely on public hospitals. 3 weeks ago, I spent 5 days at (public)hospital and as part of my treatment, I received 2 injections that cost several thousands of ZL. There is no way I could have paid and my (private) health package does not cover this...

Scary!

News / Poles v Tusk's school 'reform' [58]

As to cheating, in Poland, it is almost normal to keep books and notes wide opened on the desk and to go through them while taking exams and most students do. I am very skeptical about alot of Polish diploma holders ;)

News / Poles v Tusk's school 'reform' [58]

@Ruba! Yes! I have been for years around a lot of Polish school kids, both from public and (expensive) private schools and I can conclude that they only learn to memorize, they don't learn how to think, to analize things .... Pure little parots! Probably some leftover from communism (= thinking people are dangerous).

News / LGBT hate speech to be banned in Poland [208]

@Polonius: the 1.5-2% homosexual minority only wants to be as equal as the others, not to be stigmatized, not to be refused jobs, not to be physically attacked on the streets simply because they are homosexuals.

Those telling us how to run our lives are not homosexuals but churches: what to think, what to do, how to do, what to eat and to drink, what to read, what to watch, how to get dressed, how to educate kids, etc etc etc ...

Wulkan: thanks to confirm that Vatican have given 0 euro to help refugees. Obviously Saudi Arabia and alike are disgusting. Has EU requested funds from rich Arabic states? ;).

PS: Has the Vatican given money to help the refugees?

News / Poland's Archbishop Wesolowski trial starts [28]

@Jon: I would have tolerated if for instance he had had a ... 40-year old male lover (;)) although not as per the RCC's "moral standards" but if a paedophile, he was a criminal. I don't know whether the Church attracts such perverts or they become perverts while with the Church (like in the case of the egg or the hen coming first ;)) but nobody can deny that the Church counts so many perverts ;). I mean and I do stay away as much as possible from those nuts.... They are very dangerous.

News / Poland's Archbishop Wesolowski trial starts [28]

@Jon: these people are obviously sick and I long as they will be covered by their hierarchy, I'll criticize them. How can a 61 or 67 or whatever-old-man be sexually "interested" in kids. It beats me but it seems "sort of ok" for the Church. The kids are destroyed both physically (I don't want to even imagine an adult penetrating a small kid's body) and psychologically and shall need a lot of time to recover (it the kid ever does some day).

As per my personal standards, paedophilia is a crime but is it a crime as per the RCC's standards? One may wonder since the RCC seem to put up with them.

sure looking at child porno is not illegal but who does???? The "funny" thing is that it happens so (too) often among the Catholic Church which would like to teach "morals" to the rest of us.

Sorry, I prefer MY morals ;)

News / The yesterday's referendum in Poland? Results? Attendence less than 8%. [24]

So we know, turnout was .... 7,8%! No need to bother re % for "yes" and "no". 130 million ZL thrown away (there are a lot of comments on the net against that scandalous waste of money and so much the better that a lot of Poles react)! According to Polish media, one of the most expensive referenda ever held in Europe. You bet! ......

News / The yesterday's referendum in Poland? Results? Attendence less than 8%. [24]

@Pol3: as you know, I am not with PiS (....) but since I am not with PO either, I do say that it was a stupid move from government and a waste of public money (my money too). The 130 million ZL could have been spent in better ways.

So the turnout was 8%, how many "tak", how many "nie"? We should know tonight at 6.

The only potive thing out of this joke is that Kukiz is most probably out of the political scene.

Who is the "moron bul"? Anyone could have expected the ridiculous turnout. In a lot of countries, people would raise hell over the money thrown away.... They keep saying that Poland is ... poor and blablabal but throwing 130 million ZL away does not bother them. Shame on them!
