USA, Canada / Poles in PA (Pennsylvania)? [7]

Polish district north of Rte #1

In fact its a very small Russian/Lithuanian and Polish community of about 2/3 blocks just behind the lottery circle with a town next to Lawrenceville. There are lots of Polish stores/delis,travel agencies etc. Also I use to go there for Polish buffet only one in NJ I could find.

I had a business in linden, south wood ave where mostly the polish community is 2nd third generation.

Life / Whats with going to sauna naked in Poland? [41]

if you're not comfortable being buck naked, you can always cover up with a towel.[/quote
I agree but thats after workout before shower(I hate showers in Public Bathrooms so just just change back and walk home for it.

[quote=pam]To be honest I would find it strange to see someone in a sauna with clothes. Whole point being that a sauna makes you sweat, so why would you want to sit in there in sweaty wet clothes?

My clothes were sneakers, shorts and a tanktop as I always like to go to sauna for 10 minutes for a warmup up before work out.Is that something strange to do?

Then you will be surprised that in states it might get you arrested, until the sauna is in women/men only area, unlike years back i went to pulaska pool where the sauna was coed and almost everyone was naked with kids, which did offend me.

Travel / Hotel or Apartment? Best budget option for accommodation in central Warsaw (I don't speak Polish) [8]

, would someone fill me in on tipping culture in Poland. Do you tip the cab driver, the waitress, etc? And if so, what is a typical %? Thank you so much for the help

Usually 10% in restaurants and round off at 5 or 0 the cabs,I still give 10% unlike states where 20% is a normn nowadays.
Most good hotels have breakfast buffet by american standards,I still prefer intercontinental, hyaat or mariott makes you feel at home and mostly speak english.

You can't not like the location: the location you give doesn't exist.

Real Estate / Swiss Francs Mortgages in Poland [71]

That is very simply impossible.

here we go,that was the origanal price

Since I dont like the location as it is on the last end of the side of the building, you can buy it if you can afford it.

Real Estate / Swiss Francs Mortgages in Poland [71]

Buying a property is a risk

What are you suggesting here? I have been doing this in Poland and states for over 25 years.Only when a duffer guy buys it without calculating risks then it is a risk.Plus buying for long term is never a risk, and then how much credit one takes is also to be considered.I always bought when I can afford outright if i cant I wait cpl years, until its a real deal which doesnt happen.Even in states buying from banks is not a deal forget poland.

buying for flipping is a risk I agree.

Real Estate / Swiss Francs Mortgages in Poland [71]

Not really seen much downward movement in the last month or two, and yet the properties I check are still plodding on and for sale at the prices no one wants - for a year or two now.

I would say some have started to.I just negotiated a commercial on ul ken(on the side of the building) 135 sq m restaurant for 790k.People who want to sell seriously are bringing the prices down,And in Poland ROI can be still 8/9 % kind of hard to find but you can. Some bad properties still can yield even 10%.
