Life / A rant about "patriotism" in today's Poland [60]

And faggots will still keep talking about Polish artists not singing about Polish history. These are some of those times when I'm utterly disgusted with this nation

Personally, I'm more disgusted with people who continually use words like "faggots" on PF.

Chinese hasn't got a chance for one simple reason - they don't care about it being spoke

Spot on. The Chinese government is finding it hard enough to get the entire nation to adopt a common language (Mandarin), so they're hardly going to waste time on convincing the world that they should learn a language which is effectively only used in one country.

If Bieganski was correct, English would be dying out in Hong Kong, but the opposite is happening, even 15 years after the handover.

Love / Polish women and foreign men [76]

I been leaving in England for quite a while and met many English women complaining about English men who according to them only sit infront of the tv, watch football, drink beer and are useless at anything else.

Then they should get themselves a better class of man if they're fed up of such stereotypical couch potatoes.

I'm too busy with other interests to sit in front of the TV all day, I don't drink, and I work out a lot. I do watch mostly sport though. :D

If I wanted to generalise, I could say that a lot of women (Polish in particular) just want to sit at home in front of the TV, while chain-smoking, drinking whole bottles of wine, and don't like going anywhere because they have anxiety attacks if they do.

But that's just two of my exes :D

Unfortunately, on PF, such an experience with one man or woman tends to equal "all men/women", doesn't it?

Love / Why don't Polish women treat education seriously for themselves? [130]

He hasn't got a plot, he has an agenda. An agenda which seeks to prove that all Polish women are either sl*ts, uneducated sl*ts, or are simply desperate for black c*ck.

He's being a lot more subtle about it now, i.e., his posts no longer end with "and everyone knows that Polish women prefer black men", but we know what he's up to.

Like Polonius3's obsession with homosexuality, he is clearly obsessed with black c*ck himself. Apart from healthcare workers, few men would know so much about Polish pen*s size, unless they had some sort of interest in gay issues - and he's made it pretty clear that he's not a nurse or a physician.

Polish women (not the decent ones, anyway) don't tend to go around telling people about their experiences of c*ck sizes, so we know he's trolling again. I've got four decades of experience with Polish people, so I think I've got a better idea of the truth than some trolling South African with an American passport.

Off-Topic / Loading a photo of Poland from your mobile/cell phone takes 30 seconds, come on! [86]

Not quite Poland, more like Polishness in Salford really ;)

I should do a series. I could entitle it "Photos hudsonhicks would hate" - photos of Polish shops and/or businesses which cater to Poles round here.

Anyway, I was rollin' tru da endz in my babe magnet (jk) so I snapped the local "Funciak Sklep" (lol) :)

More later :)

News / The consequences of a PiS electoral victory [22]

Just shows to go that urban legends are not always true.

That's the whole point - it's an idiom which is actually hyperbolic. You're not supposed to take it literally.

Someone who uses so much hyperbole in his posts should know this.

Then again, you should know why we don't think PiS are good for Poland, but you don't.

Life / Want to watch BBC iplayer in Poland? [59]

Well, at least we still have that hot MILF Daniela Denby-Ashe :)

I'm going to miss that chavvy Salford accent though, we don't get many of those on TV except on Corrie or Shameless :D

Food / Are frozen chips a cancer risk? The UK's NHS responds. [21]

Typically lazy tabloid reporting.

Chips "may" or "could" give you cancer. Then again, they will probably change their mind next week - "chips once a week protects against lung cancer" or something. As long as you don't have them with HP Sauce, in which case you "could" have a chance of getting diabetes once you reach your 70s. lol.

Perhaps what they should just do is run a "New research suggests that life leads to your death" headline, and have done with it. Then again, they would still use weasel words like "may", "could", or "some", haha :D

News / The consequences of a PiS electoral victory [22]

you mean the capital K? :)

Koalicja ;)

They would make the day of Lech Kaczynski's death a public holiday, and force school children to march with Kaczynski and PIS banners every Kaczynski day.

They would increase income tax to 60%, so that Polska B's inefficient farmers can carry on ploughing their unprofitable fields, just like in the "good old days" of the PRL.

Language / Polish word "no". Is it a slang word? [22]

And no, it's not true that only uneducated simpletons use the word. Overuse, maybe, but phrases like "no i co?" are part of the general language and are used by everybody.

Indeed.

My closest Polish-born family includes a doctor, a pharmacist, an art teacher, and several language graduates. All use/used this word, but not frequently.

Overuse of "po prostu" annoys me far more :D

Language / Polish word "no". Is it a slang word? [22]

I find the Polish word 'no' very annoying, and it is mainly used by uneducated people who have nothing better to say for themselves.

I hope your sarcasm isn't trying to imply that I'm uneducated.

Language / Polish word "no". Is it a slang word? [22]

WB - he's referring to the Polish word "no", which can mean "well", "yeah", "indeed", or "innit", depending on how it's used ;)

I'm trying to find out more about the Polish word "no".

Example:

Me: idziemy do łóżka?

Polish girlfriend: no, jesteś niesamowity

Me: are we going to bed?

PG: innit, you're incredible

lol

Love / Why don't Polish women treat education seriously for themselves? [130]

In my experience that's not true.........my polish female friends are highly educated with several languages, higher degrees, certificates etc.

Yet they all work in Costa :D

No, seriously... that's true in my experience, too.

Except for my lazy, chavvy ex with the hair extensions, lol.

News / Children licking cream off a Polish priest's legs "inappropriate" says NGO [116]

In taht case, she thought it wouldn`t hurt you as you are a representative of the rotten West. Adultery is common there and nobody makes a big fuss about it. Come on.

One of the bad things about this forum is that I can still see a preview of replies from idiots on the ignore list.

Yet again, you have given us even more reason to suspect that you aren't really a teacher, otherwise you would understand that even in the so-called "rotten" West (the "West" which Poles seem to love to move to, ironically), many people DO make a fuss about adultery. And it's not because they are religious, it's because they understand the harm it can cause, to the victims and their families - religious or otherwise.

Like Polonius3, you fail to understand that non-believers in god or religion can also live decent, responsible, respectable and moral lives, and many religious people can live pretty dreadful lives.

Fortunately, the backward Poland of which you are a representative is gradually dying, and Poland will eventually be much better for it.

Oh, and when I was still married, I was still a believer.

:):):)

Believe it or not, a string of smileys at the end of each post doesn't make you look clever, or funny.

Unlike WB, I have no time to engage in conversation with you. So back on ignore you go! :p

Life / General questions for those who have chosen to make Poland their home [32]

but I'm curious who - in your view - may be those that Poland isn't for ...?

It's certainly not for people like me.

Why would I move to a country where I would have to work longer hours than here, with worse terms and conditions, and 100% of my salary would barely stretch to paying for a 40m2 flat, and I would probably be told that I should live way out of town if I don't like the housing costs (I've never lived in a dead-end small town or village, and I certainly wouldn't be willing to do so if I went abroad). Especially as my 60m2 flat over here costs 20% of my salary, and I live in a metro area larger than Warsaw, with lots going for it.

Poland's a great place to visit, but it's not a good place to work for many, and especially not if you're in my line of work.

Unless it's a slim, athletic guy over 5'11", of course...

Do you think I could find a good catholic spouse?

Looking for a good Catholic spouse?

Sadly, we're no longer allowed to make "blanket generalisations". But, by reading the above, perhaps some PFers will understand why some of us have done so previously.

This matrimonial service says it can help those looking for a spouse who espouses and practices good Catholic values: znajomapolonia.com. Free shag seekers need not apply!

If you really think that someone claiming to be a "good Catholic" will protect you from cheating, you are incredibly naive. I married a "good Polish Catholic", yet I was the victim of adultery. I'm the non-believer who has never cheated and never will. That blows all your Dark Ages theories of morality right out of the water.

Life / Typical for the Poloniandists [171]

It's a sad state of affairs when we have to emphasise this, but we know how sensitive some people can be, so I'll keep to the rules.

I've even remove the 4th letter of the alphabet from my keyboar! lol ;)

Life / Typical for the Poloniandists [171]

To have Polish ancestors doesn't make you a Pole.

Over here, it appears that if you are second-generation, you stop being <insert ethnicity here>, but only if you are white.

If, for example, you are Pakistani, then you're still a "Paki" even after three or four generations.

Unless you're a sportsman, of course :D

If you run the local corner shop and speak with an "accent", then you get called a "Paki shop owner", but if you're an "Asian" boxer from Bolton, you get called "British" even if you wave both the Pakistani and Union flags after winning a fight. There's clearly a degree of hypocrisy within UK society ;)

But it could be worse - my sister only calls herself Polish if she gets passed over for promotion at work, and tries to plan an ethnic "race card" - it's hilarious to hear about it, because the rest of the time she talks about how "east Europeans" should "**** off back home and stop taking all the benefits"! :D Needless to say, she speaks no Polish.

I, on the other hand, have spoken excellent Polish all my life, married a 2nd generation Pole in a Polish church, and have been in several other relationships with Polish women (one actually from Poland, who spoke virtually no English), totalling around 13-14 years.

I have minimal contact with non-family Poles now though, because I don't like the attitude of most of those who have come over since 2004 (there is a degree of "generation gap" here, but it goes beyond that - but that's beyond the scope of this post, and I'm not willing to elaborate for personal reasons).

So I would say that I'm entitled to call myself Polish, but unlike some (bold text for the benefit of p3undone ;) ) of the Pol-Ams on here, I never mention it unless someone else does, or someone sees my surname and comments on it.

I can guarantee that you would never, ever see me driving around with some "Yeehaa! Damn right I'm Polish!!" car sticker like some Poland-avoiding, non-Polish speaking Polish-American probably would.

Life / General questions for those who have chosen to make Poland their home [32]

Why did you choose Poland as opposed to another country?

An even better question would be "If Poland was full of fat and ugly women, would you have moved there?"

I suspect that very few people would say "yes" if it was ;)

Disclaimer: this is just an observation, and is not intended to offend anyone fat, ugly or even Polish-American ;)

UK, Ireland / Unemployed Poles in Ireland : a crash course in milking the system [323]

By refusing to reply, it gives us even more reason to question your "Britishness". And you couldn't be more wrong - I'm proud of my origins and fluency in the language, but I couldn't be more pro-British if I tried. Better to be a Manc than some valley-dwelling sheep-shagger!
