UK, Ireland / Ive been in the UK for 6 days to relocate and im going back to Poland. [281]

some left-wingers do know their stuff.

This is the most complete illiterate rubbish i have ever heard, totally at odds with all statistics. Just plain wrong!

it is just so wrong i don't know were to start.

Why do you think that 'New Labour' and Blair modeled themselves on Thacher and adopted some of her policies if she was so wrong?

Don't say that to me again. Just because I don't buy that conservative nonsense doesn't mean that I don't know, ok? I'm getting tired of all those conservative nitwits who think they have all the knowledge. And then they copy my lines. Weak.

Why not, when you said she increased debt when in fact she did the exact opposite? Not only was she able to decrease the country's debt she also managed to reduce taxes that damaged the country's wealth creation capacity.

MT motion of no confidence in the commons.

And no, you are wrong everyone in private enterprise benefited under her, especially tradesman like plumbers etc. Hardly wealthy are they?

And what is wrong with owning your own home?

Forgotten yet that Thatcher, a conservative, brought the UK nearly to bancrupcy? Forgotten yet that that same Thatcher wanted everybody to own their homes, even when they could not afford it

It is amazing how politically illiterate you are, when Thatcher came to power Britain was nearing bankruptcy, the former labour chancellor had to go to the IMF with a begging bawl, and the unions held the country to ransom. Ever heard of the winter discontent? When Thatcher came to power she paid down the debt and much more, under her reign the country grew wealthy to an unprecedented degree.

this is how it use to be.

Don't be so despondent people, so long as the Conservatives remain in power things will get a little better, but first they have to get a little worse before that happens. The problem with some in the UK is that they are unwilling to think of the national good and they tend not to understand the concept, when you mention national good the first thing they think about is welfare not self sacrifice. That is why they might be tempted to revert to labour when things get a little tougher, the party with all the easy answers.

News / New cross war in Warsaw [530]

I agree with you BB 100%

But let us remember that we are dealing with a minority of people who had religion drummed into their heads from a very young age, the church has dissociated itself from them and the majority of politicians deplore their actions. In the meantime a group of youths is taking the **** and irritating them, which i would be tempted to do myself:)

Life / Yard waste / plastic burning - is such typical behaviour in Poland legal? [30]

should just call the fire department & give a rough location within 50 meters. But knowing their astute skills- (fighting brush fires with brooms & no water) they wouldn't be able to find the place. :S

I agree do it, it will teach them a lesson for next time, I know i would.

Exactly that. I find it humiliating the need to complain, writing letters,

If that would be the attitude everyone had, how on earth would the country improve?

You need to be an active citizen, sitting on your ass is not going to change anything, things only get better with an active citizenry that cares about:

1. their family

2. their local community

3. their country

It is the test a a true patriot. As the Poles in eastern Prussia new very well.

I said before, Maria Clementina Sobieski.

The daughter of great Jan Sobiseki, Saviour of Vienna in 1688, common knowledge.

unfair!

That is not the place for public meetings, it is the presidential palace and Poland is a secular country in which politics and religion should not mix. There are more than enough crosses in Poland, they can go some place else it was not meant to be there permanently.

So Kaczynski in Wawel is not enough for them? Face it they are a bunch of stupid morons blaspheming against the cross, and all this was prompted by that stupid, stupid, bitter Kaczynski.

Warsaw Pact countries are perhaps more vindictive

Perhaps not, if they were than former communists would never return to power, vindictive is the type of politics practiced by Labour in the UK fueled purely by class hatred.

UK, Ireland / Polish immigration in UK [491]

By the time Turkey joins-which will be in about 10 years time at least central and eastern Europe will be more prosperous, so will Turkey, so i suspect that though Germany will still be a prime location countries like Poland, Czech Rep and Slovakia will also be quite attractive locations.

I think the immigration impact will not be as bad as you might initially think, besides turkey will have to meet a number of conditions before joining.

History / Endecja - State Sponsored Anti Semitism 1935 - 1939. [138]

And you are calling ME biased? That actually makes me laugh on this Saturday morning.

How can you plausibly call my comments biased, please explain?

Maybe you consider SA is a well governed country at the moment?

Maybe you are denying the fact that the ANC has a monopoly on power in SA at the moment.

Or perhaps you would like to join Malema (head of the ANC youth wing) and sing along to
"bring me my machine gun" and "Kill the Boer" ?

Lets face if it had not been for colonialism Africa would still be in the dark age, hang on it actually still is.

"Fill full the mouth of Famine
And bid the sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest
The end for others sought,
Watch sloth and heathen Folly
Bring all your hopes to nought.

reap his old reward:
The blame of those ye better,
The hate of those ye guard--
The cry of hosts ye humour
(Ah, slowly!) toward the light:--
"Why brought he us from bondage,
Our loved Egyptian night?"

it is simply too fukcin prophetic!

Indeed, and i don't buy into this 'colonialism bad' crap. The Truth is that it had more positives than negatives, and facts alone prove that to be the case. both blacks and whites had a higher standard of living when Zim use to be Rhodesia and that goes for many other African states.

It is discrimination but it is also payback. Two wrongs don't make a right but blacks, being the majority, were denied so much during the long reign of apartheid. I can understand the logic. Life isn't fair, Hague.

No, it is not. And the trouble is that they won't remove them any time soon, because the de facto one party South African state will continue to mismanage South Africa and the black majority will continue being poor, whilst the minority that is capable of putting the state back on to its two feet is discriminated against.

Jews blocked out of most, if not all parts, of public and social life;

It does get mentioned, but you are stretching the truth with this one, and you know it, so i would certainly not consult you as you are not objective. Proportionally Polish Jews filled the majority of liberal professions in Poland.

News / Poland and Kresy being reunited? [162]

too full of Belorussian and Ukrainian peasants.

it is a better idea to help these countries develop so they can become more economically productive whilst adopting certain governmental norms, that way Poles can settle in the area regardless.

News / Pole loses language discrimination case in Germany; Scandalous! [97]

Gilla Schindler from the German Family Ministry, admitted that there were certain irregularities in the Jugendamts.

If the above is the case this deserves further examination, and i take it that 'irregularities', sometimes is political code for monumental Fcuk up.

News / Is Jarosław Kaczyński the new Lech Wałęsa? [74]

He is just a well meaning though stupid peasant with a chip on his shoulder. Don't even try to understand him he is becoming an increasingly bitter and twisted individual, he sees his own interest as the national interest. He thinks that he and Poland is one and the same, if that were the case i would not bother going to Poland.

Travel / Poland-My 9-day experience [239]

I have to take exception to this comparison with Australia since I live in Auss. It is just not worth comparing, this thread is about Poland and not Australia. Australia has its special qualities and it should not be compared to Europe. I think that Australian people have their own particular sense of culture, and yes it can be a bit of a cringe especially when they imitate American culture, like country singing and call it Australian! But there is a lot more to it and I think it is encapsulated in the I am you are-song.

I love the Australian sporting culture and I think there is a lot to celebrate in that, However if one is after some European culture you will be disappointed and I guess that is why so many young Aussies go on European holidays. I think it is unfair to compare Australia to Europe like the Australian PM (Keating) did and referred to it as the backside of the world, or something to that effect. This land is not an identikit of Europe it has its own culture.
