Life / An example of what is wrong with Poland (fatal traffic accident and a tram) [55]

but for the love of god, why for two hours could nobody take the decision to move that tram to where it would have blocked only one lane of a single tram route?!

Because cops take forever to do anything. A couple or so hours to move vehicles after a pile up is completely normal, especially if there was an injury involved. The police have to talk to people, find out what happened. An ambulance has to be called and the injured taken to a hospital. If a death is involved, an investigation must start, thus adding more time.

Even though this wasn't a pile up, it was a public transportation vehicle and a fatality. That is going to take a long time to process.

Life / Support wanted to stop the sale of live carp in Poland [74]

rather standing knee deep in its own feces penned up in a factory farm stall while being fed antibiotics

Sadly, that is the situation for millions of dairy cows.
Beef cattle are sold as calves to feedlots.

Not if international quotas were established and enforced.

That already exists for some species, especially whales. Officially, hunting them is forbidden by the IWC. Unofficially, the Japanese and a few other whaling nations are allowed to hunt them in quotas for scientific study. There is a loophole that lets them sell the meat they garner from any whale they capture for scientific research or tissue gathering for samples.

They have short seasons for other fish, and it's easy to figure out why.
Millions of small fishing units.
How do you regulate these with quotas?

A wild fish is going to be harvested to the point of non existence. You have the shortest possible fishing seasons. Neo-con libertarians want them done away with. If those fishing seasons were lengthened or didn't exist, the fish wouldn't exist for long, either.

,sorry, but at one time it was probably a cute and fluffy little thing skipping around a field.

A fish isn't cute or fluffy. It's a basic food and one of the healthiest for us humans. It's better for people to consume, when compared to pork or beef.

It has those omega threes, EFAs which are essential for good health.
Fish is better when it's fresh, just been caught and cooked. Why try to ruin a good thing with something that's been processed?

If you want to go on a crusade, why not stop the slaughter of more complex beings, like pigs, cattle or chickens?
Pigs and cattle, especially, are mammals like us. A cow's head is bigger than a human's. Does this mean the brain is bigger?

why can't it be sold already killed

Because it isn't fresh and not nearly as healthy. Meat is much, much healthier if it is very fresh. It has the highest concentration of nutrients and isn't contaminated by bacteria.

This is just another example of liberals trying to impose their ideology on everyone. People have been eating fish for thousands of years. Fish exist in the wild in stagnant ponds, very gross and polluted, full of nasty stuff that humans don't want to touch. Disgusting places, they live there for years and years before being caught and eaten. You going to go out there and get all the fish from an icky, stagnant pond and relocate them?

Instead of outlawing it, why not just get better aquariums to put them in? They are fish after all. Unfortunately, low on the food chain and bound to be eaten. People catch fish from streams with hooks and carry them home, sometimes in a cooler, other times with other fish.

Honestly, it doesn't look like fun, but these are fish that are going to be eaten by carnivores or omnivores, whichever you think descibes humanity best. Any animal that is going to be eaten by another animal is not going to have the funnest time.

News / Die Welt-Poland and Germany are the economic driving force of Europe [239]

It doesn't matter if the value of the dollar is reduced when you consider the fact that we export from countries that make things so cheaply. It balances out.

Why don't we just let Chinese workers be workers for China and American workers be workers for America? That way everyone's got work .
