News / A new AWS (Poland Solidarity Movement)? [54]

It's true that we badly need a solid, center-right, economically-oriented party whose prime objective would be to facilitate small and medium sized local business

Yes...

but Jaro is the last person to build it.

Well, I like facts, not the PR stuff and If you look at the facts, in Jaro's gov people in charge of economic affairs were professionals such as Gilowska, Gęsicka or Kluza, while current head of MOF is by far the worst in post-commie Poland. Basically all others were professionals, who were blocking irresponisble ideas of politicians, Vincent is a clown, Tusk's yes man and that is very dangerous.

But I'm never going to vote for anything led by Kaczyński. Not in this lifetime. And a large part of the 70% probably feel the same.

In 2010 he got nearly half of the votes. We will see, it is possible that recent shows with Rydzyk were to marginalize Ziobro and make sure there's no competition to the right of them, before going more to the center. Anyway, we need... change... PO is a great party on paper but under Tusk they are actually doing something totally different, they need to change their leadership, before that happens, they need to be defeated... and the only party, which in short term has any chance of doing it is PiS... Jaro would get the 2nd chance, If he screw it up, he will be gone as quickly as the 1st time and will be too old to think about the 3rd time... without both of them, Polish politics will be totally different... not necessarily better but at least there will be some chace for that.

News / PiS-PSL-LPR? [23]

And do you think that coalition with PiS (thereby putting them firmly into 'those nutters' camp) would be worth it for them?

First of all, "those nutters" camp didn't exist in 2005 (they won the eletions, you know...), the nutters image was created later, after a huge black PR campaign done by PO and entities cooperating with them.

The difference between PO and the SLD is hardly that big anyway.

Very interesting. Please explain.

News / More punch-UPS ON 11th NOV in Poland? [56]

PiS abused the State organs (the CBA, TVP, etc) for their own political goals.

And now TVP is ruined to reward TVN for their firm pro-PO stance.

News / PiS-PSL-LPR? [23]

Perhaps you would like to illustrate why Pawlak would ruin his electoral base

Sure. First of all, PSL on central level doesn't even have a clear agenda, their main objective is to provide jobs and other benefits to their members and relatives, who by the way, are the main element of their electoral base, they have ~150.000 members (let's be honest, you had no idea about it) and that alone is 1% of people, who actually use to vote, add their realtives and that's nearly enough to get into the Sejm, on votes of members and their relatives. PSL people are holding thousands of jobs in the public sector, cutting them off this drip would be a tragedy for them, that's why PSL is like a prostitute, the "can" with everyone If the price is ok. That's why they were forming the gov with SLD twice and now "do it" with PO, the party they had nothing to do with before 2005.

Life / Poland needs more immigrants and their children - which nationalities are the best? [518]

The real figures are around 40% or so and falling.

LOL ! Don't get so overexited, this figure is sunday mass attendance, I'm far below it by the way :)))

You simply can't read between the lines, so you think that when some people complaining about the church are by default hardcore atheists, vast majority simply isn't, I do complain on them too, many priests are clearly idiots, just like any other people, It doesn't mean I am some feckin palikotist. Poland in regard to religion will never become like the UK (at least not in this century) the worst may happen here is Russian kind of approach, they don't attend masses much, but vast majority follow Orthodox customs and find it an importent element of their identity. I thought that you are simply stupid but now i see you clearly don't understand what is going on around you.

News / Piotr Glinski - PIS candidate for PM of Poland [9]

Gregorz, could you provide a translation please?

I don't have enough time, nor am I good enough at it but generally he said that:
* we can't afford losing more time, as we are not only fighting with the crisis but also decide how the future or Poland will look like, If we will be developing or stay a backward country, * we need to immediately improve public institutions in the sectors, where they are needed and remove them from the areas, where we don't need them, * unemployment is growing, many companies are going bankrupt, EU funds are ineffectively spent and Poles keep emigrating, * we need major changes, vision and courage to move Poland foreward, * current gov is a perfect example of bad governence, neglection and scandals, making huge debts and hiding away from the responsibility for current economic situation.

Talk is cheap.

Sure but this speech make more sense than bullshiting about "policy of love", "green island" or recent "awaking Poland".

They might as well present their candidate for the President of the US.

I was disappointed with the whole "march" but this guy makes sense, sure he has little change to become the PM but at least there is some pressure on Tusk, maybe he will finally start treating his job seriously.

News / Piotr Glinski - PIS candidate for PM of Poland [9]

I don't know this guy but what he said...

I believe that the bid that in Poland we play , is not only counter the economic downturn , but also the development of civilization and backwardness of the country and we can not afford , is no longer on it just time to failure of this kind of action - convinced the professor.

We need to improve public institutions where they are now helpless , where the government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced properly surrender and withdraw the state from those areas where it is unnecessary - the professor said.

Glinski also spoke , among others , that in Poland is growing unemployment, bankrupt company , European funds are spent largely ineffective , sociological studies show that increased stratification of sociological and Poles choose to emigrate .

- Yes, can not continue . We must not only deal with the crisis, but we really and definitely change Poland . We can not afford apathy and rickety attempts at reform , we need to move forward Poland , have the vision and courage ( ... ) bringing real change right away - said Glinski .

Also sharply criticized the governments of Donald Tusk , which - in his opinion - are a textbook example of bad governance , means only stagnation and goings . The current team - he argued - has also led to a huge debt , flees from the responsibility for the crisis.

is 100% spot on.

History / Poland-Lithuania would we be better off together? [16]

I know Poles feel good about Lithuanians, however I was surpised reading some of the news stating Lithuanians do not trust/like the Poles.

Do Lithiunians retain any of the sentiment to our brotherhood as we do?

Poles are rather neutral on Lithuania, Lithuanians are rather unfriendly (not all of course) to Poles. They have serious inferiority complex issues and their approach to Commonwealth is totally different, they think they were under Polish boot and such.Today we have much more in common with Czechs, Slovaks, Hungarians and even Ukrainians then with them.

BTW The Grand Dutchy had not much in common with modern Lithuania, majority of population were Eastern Slavs.

OK, If you insist, I will try to activate your brain by asking you a simple question: do you realize that countries such as Greece, Spain or Portugal have had many more and for far too longer, those "yellow billboards" ?

News / A new AWS (Poland Solidarity Movement)? [54]

A new AWS?

Hopefully not.

combining Soldiarnosc, PiS and theTrwam-Maryja community

Trade union in politics is the best way to disaster and Trwam... the only way for PiS to defeat PO is to get non-political experts to prepare a good plan of badly needed reforms and move more to the center. If they keep concentrating on Rydzyk, Tusk will win 3rd time, If that happens, I will never forgive Jaro, It will be all his fault that we will have terrible, anti-Polish government for another 4 years.

so Poland does not become a neo-colony run by outside capital. It

Come on, It already happened many years ago, what we need now is rapid modernization of this country (and prey there will be enough Polish businessmen to make use of it) that is something PO is not capable of but PiS with unionists and Rydzyk will not make it happen either, there are plenty of smart people in Poland, what they need to do is to attract them and let them work, that is not impossible as anti-PiS/pro-PO hysteria is over among most of the experts but they will not do it with unions and Rydzyk.

Of course there were Poles working for the Soviets. And... ?

History / People the Soviets planted in Poland [75]

It would have failed, had there not been a social demand within Poland.

What do you base it on ?

So did Russia but it seems like for many Polish people the fact is still inexplicit.

You mean Poles think Russia is still a communist country ? I don't think so. It's more like going back to times of "white" Russia. The thing is Poland and pre-commie Russia were enemies for centuries, so It's not a simple: communist Russia = bad, non-communist Russia = good schem.

Indeed. It never would have worked without the acceptance of the locals.

Fascinating. So you say Poles wanted post-WW2 Poland to become a communist country ?

Do you believe that if the Soviets didn't bring communism to Poland, the Polish people wouldn't invent it themselves?

Very interesting question. Could you explain what is your position on this one ?

News / The consequences of a PiS electoral victory [22]

My question is - what would happen next?

Isn't it obvious that the sky would fall over our heads ?

They would increase income tax to 60%

Yes, because we all know very well that PiS was increasing taxes when they were forming the government and PO gov is known for reducing them :)))

History / People the Soviets planted in Poland [75]

Anybody, who thinks that in 89 commies capitulated and "freedom won" is naive like a child, commies allowed it all to happen only after they secured their interests. That's one of the main reasons why this country now is so pathetic.

BTW comments of expats in this topic are truly priceless :)))

Which was the only country in the 27-nation European Union to register economic growth without going through a recession last year? The surprising answer is Poland.

Yawn... it's not even funny anymore.

Food / Kasztelan niepasteryzowane is really fresh! [11]

Do you regard £omża as a reigonal brewer? They certainly advertise enough -- the big beer from the little brewery!

I don't think so. Yes, they try to look like a regional brewery but it is really a large brewery (with production capacity 1 million hl annually, 20 times more than Witnica, which isn't really a micro entity either) being a part of even larger group. I know their beers, they are not bad but anyway, this is a trully industrial scale production and one can feel it.

Kasztelan is not bad but try some beer from regional breweries ->
browaryregionalne.pl/stowarzyszone-browary

Browar Witnica produce excellent beer, especially BOSS and Celtyckie. Some stuff from Browar Fortuna and other regional producers is also top class. Recently regional producers have been in offensive, their beer is crushing mainsteam beers (usually owned by Carlsberg and other global companies) 10 thousand times. Regional beers used to be hard to get, I guess small producers were struggeling with distribution and other related issues but these days you can often find their beers even in Żabka.

Life / Typical for the Poloniandists [171]

Harry,I can understand how someone trying to tell you what's best for Poland when they don't live there or never even been there can be annoying.

Sorry P3 but you are talking nonsense, I've seen many stupid things on PF over the years but the idea that certain gang of "expats" managed to position themselves as some kind of experts on Poland and an authority on what's best for this country is just too much, especially when a moderator buy this garbage. They've been living here for a few years, are not fluent in Polish and has as much clue about this country as a Polish factory worker living in London since 3 or 4 years has about UK. Besides, even If that was not a case It still doesn't mean they have a right to gang up on posters they do not agree with.

These creaters live on this stuff, they provoke others and then push the button to report their posts once their "enemies" lose their nerves, all of that in the name of fighting with "racists" of course... So we get busia and plenty of other nonsense. They mastered the art of insulting and provoking the way that one can not "quote" it as it is put between the lines. I find it incredible that I have to explain such things but imagine a small American forum with a gang of Europeans with ultra-liberal views, who are living in the US and abuse other users, Americans, German-Americans and whoever else, they say that people who owns guns are mostly descendants of racist village peasants from lands which we don't speak of in civilised circles, they say that anyone who does not support public health care system is a backward racist and so on, that's why they gang up on such posters, to fight racism of course. When one, on a veteran day, post a topic about fallen American soldiers liberating Europe during WW2, they paste links to stories about a French girl raped by an American soldier or about another one, who stole a bicycle in Holland, all of that to break "national myths" of course and once some "nationalist" lose his nerves and call it what it is, they push the button. Think for a while what a sane administration whould do with them. I can understand freedom of speech uber alles, I can understand that "Poles steal our jobs" idiots are tolerated but organized trolling is a totally another issue.

I don't give a feck, I've seen so much of this garbage here that it doesn't work on me anymore but majority of the best posters has already left, soon you will stay here alone with admin and a gang of kunts. Have fun.
