Life / Are Poles bankrupt? [35]

many non-EU countries (Poland was cited as one country)

Poland is in the EU.

The euro put an end to cheating on debts.

How did it do that?

Real Estate / Where to live, where to avoid in Krakow [28]

jarnowa, I think you are very brave moving to Krakow.
You might change your attitude because of all the 3rd worlders here that you will have to integrate with.

Life / Are Poles bankrupt? [35]

The real question is not if they are, but how much they are in debt?

In 51st place it's Poland

Bolesław Chrobry beat Terry Wogan's ancestor in battle

How did you make that connection? :)

Link?

And you thought good ol' Wogan was just a normal Irishman!

He is Irish/British, the Eurovision was not the same without him, he was the best thing about it.
Not a comical genius now, the performances covered the comical part but the dry sarcasm made it hillarious:

"Who knows what hellish future lies ahead? … Actually, I do. I've seen the rehearsals,"

History / How Polish history is viewed by other countries textbooks [124]

No matter where she was from , anyone who invents

In July 1898, Skłodowska–Curie and her husband published a paper together, announcing the existence of an element which they named "polonium", in honor of her native Poland.

Will Harry bore someone in to submission again?

I will do the pre-emptive defense and give in before it sends me to sleep and say she was not Polish because nobody Polish ever did notin for noone :)

Travel / Traveling to Kraków - how to get to the city's center from the airoport? [7]

You're welcome, please feel free to add to the thread and tell us about your trip.

Krakow is a wonderful city, I am sure you'll love it.

By the way the free bus to the station is from the airport?

It's a free bus 500metres to the train which you have to pay 6 zloty on.
So it's not worth the messing around for a 500m walk.

The train brings you to the main trainstation and a big shopping mall (Galleria krakowska).
From there it's about a 5 minute walk to the market square (the very centre).

I recommend you book a hotel first, then you can off load your baggage and explore.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Travel / Traveling to Kraków - how to get to the city's center from the airoport? [7]

Hello OBAKA,

And welcome to the Polish forums.

If you are flying in to Krakow (Balice Airport).
I recommend you take the free bus that will bring you to the express light train.
The train will take to the train station in the centre of Krakow (cost 6 Zloty).

You can actually walk to the train, when you get out just follow the road to the right, it is about 500metres.
Buses too are cheap but then you don't know where you are getting off.
There are taxis outside, they are the most expensive mode of transport into the centre but if you have the cash, why not.

I mean do you guys know any good hotels in Kraków? My budget is 350zł -400zł for 5 nights.

I am not sure but for that price, I think you are looking for a hostel, Hotels start from about 200 per night in the centre.

UK, Ireland / ENGLISHMAN JAILED FOR MURDER OF POLISH GIRLFRIEND [47]

R.I.P.

How terrible, the family must be in bits.

I try not to read such news, it is terribly depressing, so young and beautiful.

Incredible how the sick people of this forum show themselves on such sad occasions.
I often make excuses for some of the people on here like Jarnowa, Southern and Sokrates.
I think they must have really painful physical disabilities and vomit their hate on the internet to vent but the truth is they are just reactionary provokers with no self-respect and therefore no respect for anyone else, I pity them, we only have to put up with the little bits we accidentally read, they have to live with themselves alone.

Comparatively petrol is very expensive here in Poland, no question.

Many people use public transport or have gas adapted cars (gas is much cheaper).

It all comes down to planning ahead but you have a point M, petrol is very expensive when compared to the wages.

* what do Americans call 'gas' not petrol but gas?

Im talking about the price of petrol in POLAND, where the the minimum wage is 2 euro an hour. How do THEY afford to travel tp work if they live in the country side.

They take public transport.
