Work / Why Poland employers are afraid of hiring any foreign nationals? [171]

Polish teachers are most certainly not "every bit as fluent"

i don't think so. Maybe you've simply been at schools with low standards?
Some of the best teachers of english in poland are, imo, polish. Not all but some of the best, I really don't know your experiences and don't care to try and validate whose experience is more, uh, legitimate but for the record...

Please no stupid comments about "if you don't like it go home" as this is in itself racist!

check your definition of racism because that's a bit "off."

Regarding your situation: Poles? Nepotism? What a surprise! More than a few Poles think themselves as the best at everything and think that anytime a Pole isn't 1st or doesn't get the nod in work or play then the deck has been stacked against them (unless it's football, despair seems to set in before the inevitable). They use this mentality to justify their nepotism.

You got a group of parents who fit this mentality, you can't control how people think, you got to let it go. (but correct your definition of "racism")

News / Polar bear attack - a Polish guy survived [38]

The bear jumped on him while he was sleeping in his tent and he managed to get it off of him and shoot it .

For some reason I'm skeptical as to the accuracy of this account.

I see this is old, shouldn't this have been deleted?

History / Can Poland allow itself to refuse Slavija? [32]

Slavic world is much more then genetic or culturally based ethos. Slavic world is unique civilization.

you still did not explain your idea beyond merely making alliances for reasons other than cultural and genetic heritage. You, in fact, emphasized that you endorse alliances based on genetic and cultural ties alone. Think about it, if all the slavic world is so unique then what would you chalk that up to other than sharing genetic and cultural ties?

Hey that's cool though, maybe you're on to something, maybe that's how the world should work- alliances based on genetics- but don't pretend you're saying anything but that.

And,just cause you and some Hungarian decided that Hungarians need Slavic culture to understand them doesn't make it a fact.

Life / The Poles - do they "bumble" through life? [29]

^ then I guess I can go back to my original pytania:

Sydney:
Poles seem to be the sort that don't really mind for much and just seem to bumble along through life. Am I right?

as compared to?

that all depends on whether or not one believes the people of a nation should choose alliances based on genetic and cultural heritage alone.

Life / Do Polish People steal a lot? [330]

It has much to do with History, the oprressed becomes angry and then because living in Poland in the last 300years have been quiet uncertain times, when you are not sure if it is worth working honestly for something, because people have it in their brains that next thing the political system might change or maybe a war , and they can lose it all...

The oppressed you speak of died a long time ago. No one to my knowledge is even close to 300 years old in Poland. Poles were not the only people in the past to experience war. Modern day Poles need to give up this shtick.

It's weird, while I was living in london, the only people I heard Poles complain about in regards to stealing were other Poles and it wasn't an isolated thing. That being the case perhaps there was another reason for this. Maybe cultural sensitivity, maybe expecting more from their countrymen, maybe they just had more frequent contact with other Poles thus skewing the probability of theft in one direction...

News / Poland - Third World Country?? [300]

At a guess I would say that people who refer to Poland as a "third world country" have no knowledge of Poland (or wish to), probably don't really like Poland or Polish people and if they have been there, most likely had a bad experience due to the examples I've already written.

They also probably have no knowledge of what a third world country actually is...

it's amazing that the most succinct and insightful response was a mere 4 posts down from the op.

try 50 years of communism rot on for size some day

This makes about as much sense as a 20 something year-old black person in america trying to blame slavery for why they are the way they are. Some people just have to make excuses.

USA, Canada / Differences in How Polish People Raise a Child and How Americans Raise a Child [149]

Because I paid more attention to the baby than to him.

I've seen this with a fellow I know, his wife only speaks to him when she is either a) talking about the baby or b)angry at him about something. He ain't a happy man.

Immature? that's a bit rich, it's as if you're stating if a man doesn't understand his woman who is new to motherhood then it's immaturity but if a woman doesn't understand her man who is new to fatherhood then, well you just sort of assumed it's a one way street didn't you? I don't wish you any ill will but you're perspective seems a bit one sided.

A child is the biggest event in a woman's life, she has waited for so long for it to be born, has been with the child for those 9 months and to her that is the most precious thing in her life.

Are you sure you're speaking for all women on this one? I'm not a sister so I wouldn't know. If this is true for all women then, well, i guess that's one thing less i don't know.

History / Have Poles blood on their hands? :) [496]

My question to the Op is who cares at this point in time?
What can really be done about it?
Is there a deeper issue you're trying to get at?

I don't understand these attempts at blaming people alive and well today for what their ancestors did in the past, to me it's the attempt at reasoning a small child might make.

Some Poles like to blame Germans and Russians for what happened in the past but the fact of the matter is that there isn't a bloody thing anyone can do about the past- similarly dumb as the OP's question.

Trying to make others feel guilty for things they neither participated in nor condoned is a one of the most misdirected attempts people try when they attempt to "come to terms" with the past.

But maybe I've missed something here, I just clicked on the first page.

UK, Ireland / Hotels / accomodation in London for short-term stay? [6]

There are 5 people (3 guys 2 girls) from the Tychy Katowice area who are competing in a Brazilian Jujitsu competition somewhere near London- they need a place to stay for 1 day. I've trained with all of them (except 1 of the girls) and they are all very very good people. This morning (630-I must be mad), one of them told me they'll probably sleep at the airport if they can't find a place that's reasonable. Can anyone of their compatriots help them out?

News / Mass immigration to Poland - article and response [479]

So it's settled then, mass immigration from 3rd world refugees has a largely negative impact on the host nation, is this where we're at?

Or has someone brought some salient points as to the benefits the host nation enjoys which outweigh the increase in violent crime and economic dependents and general dissatisfaction all parties both host and refugee seem to moan about?

No?
Ok this thread is over then.
Let's start a new thread focusing on whether or not Polish firms exploit workers in 3rd world nations to keep their multinational based economy running.

Jeeeezuz atch Kariste there are way too many people missing the obvious on this thread-choosing a nice snuggley, simplistic and emotional view of the world despite what sober and objective evidence happens to exist.

*Slams door on thread*

Study / Cost of Polish lessons, courses (private) [34]

Having read this ongoing debate I can only recommend that PolishTutor gets over herself and quickly. Most of the comments were, while critical, not uncalled for. So if you can't stand the heat then get outta da kitchen.

P.S. What you charge is what you charge and i'm not gonna tell you how to run your business but a person shouldn't ever tell anyone what you charge unless it's to a potential client.

I'm I the only one who doesn't use any English in their Polish classes? I refuse to let my teacher speak English in class, she tried to the other day and I told that'll be the last time we try that- she blushed.

Work / Does it make sense to move from the UK to Wroclaw for this salary? [50]

I do not speak Polish although will be able to speak it fluently within a year

I'm not saying you won't but do you have any idea what it takes to become actually fluent in another language? Not just ask for crap in a shop or speak with a sympathetic listener but be able to function smoothly 100% all day in a foreign language? If you pull that off then hats off to you sir!

News / Mass immigration to Poland - article and response [479]

Here I disagree, they should be treated better than other animals. In the long run their civilization have a chance to be improved. There is also chance that they will absorb western style of life (hopefully without its weaknesses). So, higher civilization should serve as an example.

That's all well and nice but what do you do when you have violence coming from 3rd world immigrants? These people do not come from currently successful civilizations and have been raised with different attitudes and completely different ways of thinking. This poses two problems to your approach towards the situation:

The 1st one is straightforward enough. Let's be honest, these people by and large do not enrich the society to which they immigrate to. They do not improve the standard of living to those around them. They do not bring stability to the people of the nations which take them in. They are a burden for the tax-payer and bring little if any value to the society.

The 2nd one requires some thinking but is still easy enough to grasp.
They do not think like you or I if they come from war torn places or areas with tribal warring. It is hard for some people to comprehend that others don't think like them but when someone comes from a country where rape isn't looked down upon then I got news for you, that someone and you are worlds apart. You're not gonna convince them any different either, it's too hard wired into them. You simply have to use the language they're most likely to listen to if and only if they become violent or aggressive in your house.

If you try to ********* around with people who don't flinch at acting out violently and consider being non-violently arrested and placed in a comfortable police car a joke then you're seen as easy prey. I don't advocate the state handles its business any differently, I advocate people getting together and knocking some heads on their own. Everyday people gotta get medieval on crime when it crosses their path. Why be a victim?

News / Mass immigration to Poland - article and response [479]

I do not answer silly questions.

What's so silly about hard evidence?

And how exactly would you suggest doing that? What would undated laws look like to you (in terms of combating violent crime from 3rd world immigrants)?

As for your figures... done on the basis of racialism..

Well I have to remind you AGAIN, THEY ARE NOT MY FIGURES, I didn't have a hand in creating them but even if they were done on the basis of racialism, can you explain why you don't think they are still valid? I mean if I wanted to find out how many supported a policy in a given city based on race then my numbers would be perfectly valid regardless of the stats. Please explain on what logical grounds you can dismiss them.

its not my concern.

But why aren't those numbers your concern? Is it because you don't have to live with the problem created by violent crime due to immigration from 3rd world countries or another reason?

Better schooling... arranging ratios...30% colored and 70% white kids

But what if the immigrants (particularly muslim) object to this and want their children to not have contact with infidels?
Why should children be shipped around and native european families be made to suffer for your ideas? When have those ideas when implemented proven to work?

There is ONE WORLD.... no other world. Thus, crimes are done by our own, human kind...our own brothers... We need to help the situation properly...not through hatred, blaming or animosity.

I already told you, that's how you get 3rd world immigrants to see you as a mark. Like it or not, they speak the language of violence and violent reprisal is the only way to get through to those straight off the boat. Speak their language just like you would any other animal.

You've avoided the question for too long:

Foreigner4:
Lodz_The_Boat: How do you rationalize away or dismiss the figures from Scandinavia which show quite clearly that increased immigration from 3rd world countries leads to a very large increase in violent crime within the host nations?

News / Mass immigration to Poland - article and response [479]

i'm still curious as to how łodztheboat categorizes humans as not being animals. I say he can't do it convincingly at all.

What I meant was this: if 50% of the city's women are Muslim, it means that half the city's female population won't date you.

oh, ok. But I think you wrote:

If you live in a city which is 50% Islamic, that means it is likely that 50% of the women will not or will not be allowed to date you.

Thus 50% of the population wouldn't be islamic and then we'd be looking at what respective percentages islamic and nonislamic women represented, blah blah blah, I'm being an overly analytic dickhead. I do agree with your sentiments though.

You come out with the strongest argumentation then I need to surrender... You win, enjoy. :)

Sorry about that, you really rubbed me the wrong way on your approach but I was wrong to have stooped to that level. I think I was just frustrated with my falling into a stupid online conversation that detracted from the suicidal approach łodz_the_boat has towards this topic.
