I bet it has nothing to do with social welfare programs at all.

Oh, it does, too. Also, the government not spending on other stuff, too. If the government isn't spending, it's easy to tell. People don't have as much income without those government contracts and stuff. Although it's shabby because private industry bilks the government out of millions, the money finds its way into the economy and a large percentage of the people have a higher standard of living. This, my friend, is the difference between first and third world countries :)

I am actually appalled at seeing so many people refer to Poland as a 'third world country',

They probably call it that because there are few social welfare programs and the government doesn't spend much. Third world countries are like that, so when a developed country does the same thing, it gets called third world, too.

Why do I think that calling someone Plastic Polack could be a sign of plain and simple immaturity?

On this forum, it's a way to say "I don't agree with your opinion, so it doesn't matter." You call someone a plastic pole and suddenly their post isn't supposed to have any validity. It would be better to disagree and give reasons instead of, "what do you know, you're just a plastic pole."

am not going to say what is right for Poland, but in order to have good social welfare, you first of all need wealth. And that does not come from lefties. All they can do is to take wealth that is already there and distribute, they cannot create it.

And the last thing economies that want to grow need is higher taxes to fund expensive welfare systems.

How, exactly, does one create wealth? Who prints the money?

Everybody influences everyone else, with social media and globalization. It's impossible to escape the influence of other cultures. Sure,they influenced each other in the past, but it's that much easier now with all these fibre optic cables and satellites. You can kiss your g4 android powered cell phone for that!

Hard to tell even with the photo enlarged 400%. I can't tell if the two white vehicles belong to the cops or the paramedics. Is the ambulance the orange and purple vehicle on the shoulder of Trasa WZ? I can see a man with a bright green safety vest standing by a car with the door open. He looks like either a cop or part of a road crew.

Precisely: the tram has already been moved. If it was returned to the position which it was in the accident occurred, it would not be blocking both directions of seven tram routes and one lane of a major road and half the junction with another major road.

I thought you said the tram hadn't been moved and was left to block traffic?
