News / More punch-UPS ON 11th NOV in Poland? [56]

Who in their right mind would post such rubbish about the democratically elected President and Head of State of the Republic of Poland?

You expats are too funny, especially that garbage, who was masturbating so much to Kaczynski's death that he even opened a thread on it here on PF.

News / "Plebs Out!" Roman Kuźniar, presidential advisor on educational matters talks about uni [14]

Prof. Roman Kuźniar

It's truly hilarious when a peasant accuse others of being plebs. One quote from "professor"...

...is enough to present pitiful intelectual abilities of this funny man.

News / Poland's Economy Is Booming! The EU's Success Story? [711]

Who would pay for all those lovely renovation works throughout Poland? Poland certainly doesn't have the cash to pay for it alone.

Probably no one. When a country is poor, authorities shouldn't spend money on anything else than crtical needs, "lovely renovation works" do not belong there. "External aid" in such case... makes as much sense as subsidising 80% of costs of buying a car by some poor guy, who next will be struggeling to pay for fuel and insurence. Can you show me any country, which actually benefited so much from these stupid EU subsidies ? All those, which you would have listed few years ago are in very deep s*itt now. They all had their "lovely renovation works" subsidised by EU for far far longer than Poland.

Study / Times Higher Education rankings 2012 Poland's top universities at end! [93]

Such rankings are clearly Anglo-American centric, when I see the best German univ at 45th, the best French at 59th and the best Russian around 300th place, It can not be objective. Polish ones, well If you are the 3rd tier country, you simply can not have them close to the top no matter how good they really are.

News / Qatar Airways opens contact centre in Wroclaw! [27]

Its been like this since the dawn of civilization. People migrate to locations with desirable geographical features, it used to be a river, a natural harbor now...

But that used to happen naturally, that is not really the case now. Wrocław is rich, so is investing a lot in attracting new investors and in result is getting richer and so on.. in result we are getting overcrowded aglomerations with skyrocketing real estate prices, traffic problems... and depopulated cities, which are collapsing as they can't afford to maintain infrastructure, schools etc. In small government scenario, which I personally would like to see, It would be just one of disadvantages overhelmed by other advantages, (besides It wouldn't be that big, a lot of what Wrocałw is doing is guiding investors through countless nonsense regulations created by big government) but in big government reality, poor areas are not left alone, taxpayers are spending a lot on various "programms for underdeveloped areas" and such, and they are still poor... It would be much better to help them attract some investors then "support" them endlessly.

News / Is Jarosław Kaczyński the new Lech Wałęsa? [74]

LOL ! Vast majority of people can't afford to buy a flat without a mortgage, majority of those who do, take a mortgage to buy a large house. It's the same all around the world.

News / Qatar Airways opens contact centre in Wroclaw! [27]

Call center... well, better that than nothing but I would rather like to see it in Białystok or Olsztyn... haveing vast regional differences in development is not good for anyone in the long term.

News / PiS-PSL-LPR? [23]

They did it to themselves

Well, let's agree to disagree... but you can not denay my point that they had no "nutters" image in 2005, so your agrument that PSL would have not liked to be associated with nutters is simply failing.

There's not much difference between them economically, and both the SLD and PO accept the status quo when it comes to social affairs.

Isn't PO, at least on paper, a center-right, free-market oriented, pro-low taxes, anti-bureaucratic burden, Chrisitan values supporting party ? If you mean that in practice, Tusk's PO is not much different than SLD, I totally agree with you.

News / Is Jarosław Kaczyński the new Lech Wałęsa? [74]

Good that during the last elections the commercial radio stations played a crucial role...

Very True.

Have you ever seen a socialist government which developed a country?

No. One of the reasons I am against PO.

ZUS contributions

Can you remind us, who was lowering non-payroll labour costs and who was increasing them. Thank you in advance.

Life / A rant about "patriotism" in today's Poland [60]

And nobody bloody knows about it. Nobody TALKED about it. I haven't seen ANY articles about it on any news site, I haven't heard about it neither in the radio nor in the TV. WHY?

Maybe simply because the songs were not that good really ? Are you suggesting there is some sort of conspiracy against Elektryczne gitary ?? As for getting outside recognition, yes I would say it is important and see nothing bad in that, no matter how we "glorify our history" domestically, there will be millions of people around the world thinking that Poles are these clowns, who got defeated in 2 weeks and that was all their involvement in WW2, they rather will not listen to songs in Polish... and in the 21st century, the image a country has abroad does really matter...

Teaching Polish children English is NOT an act of patriotism.

Of course it isn't, It's a job, just like driving a bus or any other. But I don't agree that it is not important to learn English... Chinese you say ? I have been talking countless times with Chinese people, in English. English will stay no.1 business language at least for decades, maybe for centuries, even If orginally English speaking countries get marginalized, Chinese is simply too difficult.
