There is nothing stopping you from asking in the Admin office if you can do that, you may even get a chance to speak to a Prof.

Life / What is meant by 'dochody' (monthly earnings per child) in Poland - are they GROSS or NET? [8]

I have often wondered what is meant by 'dochody' (monthly earnings) when it comes to any calculations. Could someone please help me with this.
Are the figures being quoted GROSS or NET?.
For example the recent 500+ child scheme requires that for the first child the 'dochody' (monthly earnings) per person do not go above a certain limit. How is that counted? If a family consists of 2 parents and 1 child, and the required 'dochody' should not go above 500 per family member, that is 3x500 = 1,500. If the dochody was counted as gross, this figure is below the minimum monthly salary, but if the dochody is counted as net, then how much is the gross figure.

Law / How much is the fee for a divorce lawyer in Poland? [9]

There must be thousands of lawyers.....go into the office of a first one you see and ask. Then into the office of the next one and ask.

From my view anything between 5,000 pln to 10,000 pln (and that's if you're very lucky).

Study / Second Bachelor's in Poland? [6]

If you want to study for a third, fourth, fifth BA - all Universities will take you as long as you pay. There is absolutely nothing and nobody stopping you studying for at least 10 BA's - as long as you can cover the costs.

Life / Eating out in Poland, is it expensive? [28]

While in Krakow, I can highly recommend Bar Raj on Rajska St. Set menu is changed every day, you get soup and a Polish dinner - all for 13 pln. I spend 25 weeks in Poland and have gone there every day.

News / PiS to impose blanket retail tax in Poland [291]

1. I'm sure that every store, large concern will AVOID this tax at all costs. Large stores will be divided into separate unique outlets selling cosmetics, bread, food items, clothing. Their individual profits will be below the line set for tax.

2, As for trading on Saturday and Sunday (higher tax rates) the stores will merely open longer on weekdays or pass the extra charge onto their customers which will fuel inflation.

3. Stores being closed on Sunday will not FORCE people into going to church anyway..

4. ALL banks will pass any extra charges onto their customers. Banks will cut costs and dispense with the services of bank employees. This will mean more unemployment. Government will have to pay the unemployed.

5. Introduction of the minimum, wage will force prices to increase and will fuel inflation, then strikes then a change in Government.
Government will have to pay the unemployed who have been dispensed with, as companies/firms have only so much for the services that cleaners or security people provide. If they were to increase prices this fuels inflation.

6. In 2 years time, inflation in Poland will be running at 15-20% per annum.

Travel / Behavior of Polish travellers on Planes. [72]

I have just returned on a 3 hour flight from Poland. Next to me sat a couple, who for the whole flight did not exchange a word between them. This made me very sad, as if a married couple has nothing to say to each other, then we are all doomed......

News / Poland to end state funding for IVF treatment [102]

>>>>Regardless what people want this treatment never should be founded from money of the Health Service in the first place.
Would your view be any different if it was your wife who could not get pregnant and you have religiously been trying every day for the last 5 years?

Life / Polish attitudes toward cancer [6]

If my memory serves me right -
Yes, the same thing happened with a boy - I think they took the boy abroad, because they no longer believed in 'traditional' medicine (the hospital told them there is no chance of him living and they should just let him die). Luckily the boy got better with the 'unconventional' treatment.

Charges against the parents (for taking an ill boy out of hospital) were dropped.

News / Poland to end state funding for IVF treatment [102]

My dear young man,
If you had bothered to read my posts properly and understood exactly what I was writing, you would not resort to the kind of language which you now exhibit.

I will say it once more, so that you can read it slowly and understand my argument.

If the UK taxpayer (this includes all workers of all nationalities) is funding child benefit payments to Polish working parents whose children reside in Poland, there is no reason why the Polish taxpayer (including all workers of all nationalities) should not be funding child benefit payable to the working parents of children who reside in FAR, FAR poorer countries within the borders of the EU. The reasoning, I feel is pretty self evident.

And there is no need to resort of profanities - just because you cannot be bothered to read exactly what I wrote, and you read without understanding.

News / Poland to end state funding for IVF treatment [102]

@rozumieniec
Just for your information - I do not resent the fact that the British taxpayer is funding ANY child benefit for ANY child, but I resent the fact that different rules APPEAR to apply for individual countries within the EU. That's all.

But then again, all children are equal, but some are more equal than others.......

A Polish person working in the UK gets child benefit for his children back home, but a Bulgarian, Romanian or a Turkish person working in Poland cannot get child benefit for his children back home.....This is where EU rules are unfair.

News / Poland to end state funding for IVF treatment [102]

Just read that a Government Minister stated that the 500pln will only be payable for children residing in Poland and not in the 'uber rich West'. How strange is it (and perhaps a bit of a double-standard mode) that UK taxpayers can fund child benefit for those whose children reside in Poland.

News / Poland to end state funding for IVF treatment [102]

It always amazes me that no Polish woman ever admits to actually having sex with a man, but they somehow manage to have children.
I know, Virgin Births Rule OK.

Seeing as I am a drama queen - (as someone has rightly pointed out) it will be interesting to find out (when the dust settles) of the actual number of family units who have been given the 500 pln (tax free) for their children. One day someone will calculate this. However, as the Government is not really sure when this will start....we can but dream....

News / Poland to end state funding for IVF treatment [102]

I have just read on Interia.pl that families where the father is claiming child support in other countries (i.e. in UK, Germany or anywhere else) will also be excluded from the 500 pln.

Once you deduct these families, the better off (level of income still to be decided), the very poor (alcoholics) also people of questionable character (those that do not go to Church regularly) you will be left with 100 families for the whole of Poland entitled to this new 500 pln for second and other children.

Law / Family law in Poland - want the Polish children back to the Irish courts [53]

I took the time to read the whole Convention.
However, we should note: If the mother can provide evidence (neighbours, police reports, bank statements, school reports etc) that the children were forced to live in an unhealthy atmosphere or are likely to be in physical or mental danger if returned to live in the same house as the father, or the children themselves say that they are frightened - it is then up to the father to refute those facts.

No Court will force children to live in a family unit where there is imminent danger.

If the children are returned to Ireland you have to consider where they will live and who will pay for this..

This is why as the father - I would keep ALL lines of communication open, would seek/beg/plead for a reconciliation or mediation, in fact anything to keep the mother on my side.

News / Poland to end state funding for IVF treatment [102]

But the 500 pln per second and successive child WILL NOT be given to everyone as of right. The poorest families already in receipt of some local benefits will lose part of their benefit - no so clear 500 pln. Very likely the Government will also stipulate that anyone earning above a certain amount will not be entitled.

I am not certain that single mothers, homosexual pairs or other family units not consisting of married couples (father/mother) will also get the 500 pln.

As they say in Poland....it will all come out in the wash. Good idea, badly thought out - promises made without any substance. But hey, people voted for this Government.

A wise person once said: Every country gets the Government it deserves....

Work / Some questions about average wages and hiring a cleaning woman/maid in Poland [23]

Whilst we really appreciate the economic lesson about how much people earn in the US, this is Wroclaw, Poland.
Please let us know how much you ended up paying for someone who meets your criteria for the job. That would be very useful for any future prospective employers/clients who wish to hire people for similar positions.

Law / British living in Poland - tax treaty with the UK? [30]

This is why establishing 'residency' is so important.
There is nothing stopping anyone from being a resident in the UK (i.e. spending more than 183 days in the UK) and spending the rest of the time in Poland. In this way you pay UK taxes, but would have UK tax-free allowance.
